This is one of the normal sized chapters. I am glad you guys all like Traitor, and don't worry, I have some action scenes planned for either next chapter, or the one after. Anyway here it is, enjoy!
Mira's pov
Danny was right. After three hours of wandering about the imperial palace I had learned two things. Number one: my feet hurt. Number two: whoever built this place really liked long walks and indoor mazes. I went through a hallway and ended up in the main parlor. Again. For the eighth time. I gave up and dumped my bags and suitcases off by a long couch. Perhaps I should call it a sofa? I am in a royal palace, I must be the picture of sophistication. I resolved to call it a sofa whenever in Danny's presence, and that of the monks. I looked around. The ceiling stretched above me at a dizzying height. There was something painted on it, but I couldn't tell what it was. There were large windows around the room and billowy curtains blocked the night. There were a few couches arranged in a square around a small table made of rich wood. The walls were made of brilliant white quartz and the floors were a polished jade. I stretched out on the couch, suddenly exhausted.
"You would do well to ask our help," A shorter man with a white beard to match his cloak strode toward me. It was one of the monks. I sat up and blinked away the sleepiness.
"My apologies, King Daniel offered a tour, but I declined," I bowed. The monk smiled.
"I am shocked that he has not told you to call him Danny," He said as he gestured for me to follow him. I dragged my things behind me and tried my best to look less like a zombie.
"He has, and I do so in his presence," I informed him.
"So you have chosen to address him differently because of me?" The monk chuckled. "You are the palace guest, do not feel pressured to act a certain way," He assured. I smiled. It was one of the first sincere smiles I'd delivered since...since he...My smile disappeared. We came to a large wooden door.
"This will be your room," The monk said. We went in. The room was huge! High ceiling, marble flooring, luxurious royal purple carpet, a wardrobe big enough to find Narnia in! This was heaven! And the bed, it was a big, soft, canopy bed. I tossed myself on it and giggled like an idiot before remembering I wasn't alone.
"I take it everything is to your liking?"
"Oh...yeah, sorry! It's great," I laughed nervously. The monk chuckled, then he left, closing the door behind him. I waited a few seconds until I knew he was gone.
"WHOOOOO HOOOOOO!" I squealed, jumping on my ridiculously bouncy bed until I was out of breath. I guess it's true what they say about silver linings. I was unpacking my bags when there was a tap on my window. I looked but saw nothing. Besides, this bed was calling to me, and I didn't want to get up. Tap, tap, tap! I tried to ignore it. It was probably a branch or something. TAP, TAP, TAP! I reluctantly walked to the window and flung open the windows.
"Ow!" Someone cried out. I looked out and saw Far holding his nose from where the window had hit him.
"Ugh!" I sighed, grabbing him and yanking him into the room less-than-gently. He fell on his face.
"Ow! Again!" He whined.
"Oh shut up! What do you want this time?" I placed my hands on my hips.
"I figured you'd at least want to see the plane," He cocked an eyebrow.
"Wait. Why would I want to see the plane?"
"Um, duh! 'Cause you're flying in it too!" He said.
"What?" I asked.
"Look, you are his girl!"
"His..." I trailed off, not understanding.
"His girl! His lady friend! His GF! Girlfriend! Do I have to spell it out? If you go too, Danny won't get as mad at us!" He whisper yelled. I just looked at him. To be fair, it was an exciting thought. New York. And it would allow me to find out more about this Ava. Then I blushed.
"You know I'm not his girlfriend! I've known Danny for like, two days!" I crossed my arms. Far saw my blush and laughed.
"Hmmm...Iron Mira? Mira Fist? Dira? I ship it!" He grinned. I slapped him across the face. He winced, and only laughed harder.
"Dude! That needs to be a fan fiction somewhere!" He added between breaths.
"A fan what?" I hated when Far used words from the Outside. He shook his head.
"Never mind. Anyway, I need to show you the plane," He said.
"I don't know. I need to think. I mean, Danny trusts us. We can't just...I don't know Far," I lowered my head. He glared at me.
"Mira. You are an orphan. What else do you have in Kun'Lun? Who else do you have? I know I have nothing. This is my only chance Mira! And yours too!" Far said slowly. Then he turned and stiffly lowered himself out of the window. I thought I saw a tear on his face, but I couldn't be sure. I sat down to meditate like Father taught me to do. My mind cleared. I wondered if I could see where Danny was without alerting him to my presence. I zoned in on his chi.
Hello Mira.
Darn it! He must have been meditating too. Oh well, I guess I had to answer.
Hello Danny. I was just...I wondered if anyone else was even in this palace.
It is quite a large maze of sorts. It is easy to feel alone here. He responded. I could see his face now. His hair just barely covered his eyes, he blew a strand away and I smiled in spite of myself.
Yes well, how was your tour with Far? I asked conversationally.
He has quite the interest in flight vehicles doesn't he?
Um...yeah...heh heh. I laughed nervously.
You know, I will miss you both when in New York. I would have liked to see the reactions on my Outside friends' faces upon meeting you two.
oh. I mentally sighed. This little "visit" wasn't helping me. My concentration wavered slightly.
Is everything all right Mira? I guess he sensed it.
yes I'm fine, just tired. It has been a long day. I wasn't lying. It just wasn't the whole truth.
I understand. Good night Mira. Oh, and about your father, remember, it isn't your fault.
Thank you, good night Danny. I cut off the connection and opened my eyes. Oh Danny, I thought, if only you knew.
Ooh! Mystery time! Like I said, the next chapter might have some more action and of course: MORE DANNY! Because who wouldn't want more Danny? Thanks to IronFistRocks for the nice review. And I have no idea how I do this, other than a big imagination I guess. Hope to hear from all my reviewers again on this chapter and...
Wolf out...
