Hey guys! Happy Summer vacation! Yay! This chapter is slightly uneventful but it's important because Ava finally figures stuff out! And it helps explain last chapter a bit better.

Reviewers:

IronFistRocks: LOL. That's awesome!

wordjumble29: Thanks! That made my day! Keep reading!

I was cleaning up my and Mira's room when I found it. Tucked under my bed and behind some old shoeboxes, was a journal. It was small, about pocket sized, and had a leather cover. I looked closer at the booklet, and saw a tiny lock embedded into the cover.

"Huh, that's weird..." I muttered. I could have sworn I'd seen that shape before. My eyes scanned the room until I saw it. Mia's locket. She had left it here before going to the showers and must have forgotten it. Should I? No, I shouldn't. But maybe just a peek. No no. I couldn't. But maybe...

Before I knew it, my fingers had closed around the locket and were prying it open. Cling! A tiny key fell out and onto the floor. I picked it up. It fit perfectly into the lock. The journal opened.

The first two pages were filled with some type of story.

"Dragon's Heart?" I read the title.

"Daiyu Stone?" I read the bottom of the page. Mira's mom. Waves of guilt began to wash over me. But I couldn't just pass up this opportunity! I skipped a couple of pages and found a diary entry.

April 9, 2015-Journal of Mira Stone, age 16

Dear Journal,

In a magical city on the edge of the world, mountains encompass the landscape and the glittering snow merges with the horizon, creating an infinite effect. This is where I live. Kun'Lun, one of the seven capitol cities of heaven...

I read through the whole entry. Then I read it again. And again. Then I growled, stomped around, smashed my claws into my desk, ate a bowl of cereal, and ripped a pillow to shreds. Then I read it again.

Mira liked Danny. She really liked Danny. A lot.

I flipped to a new entry, and a few more after that one. Unbelievable! Nearly every page had some extensive mention of Danny! 'Golden locks of hair.' 'Luminous jade eyes.' 'A calming, radiant smile.' 'Strong, warm hands!' UGH!

After so many months of trying to get close to him, and she just prances in! UGH!

My blood boiled. Then a thought dawned on me. This is why she hates me! She knows we both like him! I'm her competition!

I sat on my bed and sighed.

"Maybe a few more. Just to scope out the competition," I said. The next entry stopped me.

I saw one of the diseased people from Kun'Lun last night. She kept calling my name. Pretty Paws was about to get us both killed by asking directions. I pulled her away but the lady called my name. I was so scared. I think she was dying, she might already be dead. Something about her was familiar, but I can't tell what.

I can only hope that she hasn't spread it.

My eyes widened. That lady was from Kun'Lun? And diseased? What! I turned to the next page.

I know who it was! Danny agrees that it is Katana! That lady with the sick child! Although, knowing who it was, that only makes me feel guiltier. What could I have done? Nothing! Not without getting sick myself! Right? Right! Then why do I feel so bad?

So they were both in on it. But why was there a diseased woman from Kun'Lun n New York? The next page did not give me my answer, but it made my guilt intensify to an almost unbearable weight.

I had the dream again. I haven't had it in a few years and I thought it had gone. But I guess not. It started out as always with the teasing of my classmates. It got louder and progressively worse until they mentioned it. Yes, it. The moment that still tortures me every minute.

I mean...I guess I never really recorded the story. And the monks say that telling a story lightens the load. So I'll try.

It was about a year ago. Mother had gone to the market. Father was napping and I was reading. Suddenly, I heard muffled grunts coming from outside. I thought it was Mother, so I peeked my head out of the door. What I saw made me freeze.

Scorpion was in front of our house, with his tail blade pressed against Mother's throat. I knew he would kill her. Her hands formed shapes and symbols, she was trying to use her magic. I knew those motions well since she had been teaching me what the great Sorcerer Supreme taught her. But she was scared, and her concentration wasn't strong enough.

At the time, I had thought I could help. That maybe, just maybe, I could save her. So I let my hands come together into a pyramid shape. I muttered under my breath. That was when they saw me. Mother started crying and Scorpion pressed the blade deeper. Blood began burbling up from the incision, he was going to kill her before I could finish.

I went faster. My fingers flew through the motions. Scorpion slashed into her and she fell. Bleeding, but the cut wasn't deep. He picked her up and slammed her into the ground, smashing her face into pavement.

My chi energy was going wild, I couldn't control it! But I just went faster. Then I was ready to aim. The spell was supposed to be a type of energy beam. I tried to aim at Scorpion, but my vision was hazy. I felt myself swaying. Too much power! My knees gave out and I fell. And as I fell, my gaze switched from Scorpion to Mother.

The beam shot out from my hands, straight into Mother. She cried out and crumpled to the ground, screaming and crying. I screamed too, but I was detached. Completely separate from this world. Darkness swam in my eyes. And the last thing I saw, was Scorpion smiling as he carried my limp mother away. He locked eyes with me and mouthed: thank you.

So like I said, it's Summer! And that means I might be able to update more frequently! Again, sorry for the lack of Danny-ness and action. Next chapter will be full of stuff, probably. Please review and anyway...

Wolf out...
