As not much was revealed at the time of the 1st episode, so I didn't know much about the inner workings of the Schnee family and we still don't so I made him pretty stern. I also removed Deverou's accent as it was a pain to write it in and I've changed his weapon design.

Deverou

Deverou leaned against the wall of the Schnee Dust Company's regional office watching his target moving through the crowd of men in suits. He followed his target closely, making sure not to be noticed as he blended carefully with the businessmen. The man he was tailing, Roman Torchwick, had entered this building to meet with an informant for reasons that were a mystery to Deverou, but he knew whatever they were they would involve Dust. Torchwick went off to the left, and he saw another man follow him. He knew this man was the informant, Joseph Anderson, one of the men in charge of taking inventory and making shipping invoices. Deverou tailed him to the bathroom, he knew this man was nervous and had a guilty conscious about this deal. He entered in behind him and removed his sunglasses. "Hello there, Mister Anderson." He said in his smooth foreign accent.

The man wheeled around in horror and immediately fixated on the eye-patch that Deverou had on. "You, you're one of them; a Tenebrous!?"

He removed the eye-patch and the crystal blue eye beneath fixated on the man, his face began to cringe with fear before becoming slack and emotionless. "Why are you here?"

"I am brokering the Schnee Dust Companies shipping manifests to a Mr. Roman Torchwick for security of my family, he'll be meeting me in Conference Room C." He replied in a monotone.

"My family has already secured yours; Mr. Torchwick shall not have them." He placed the eye-patch back on, and the man came to his senses.

"How did you…what!?" He said with a startled snort.

"Do not worry Mr. Anderson, I will meet with Mr. Torchwick and you may return home." He said as he made sure the eye-patch was on tight.

"He's going to kill my family!" Anderson cried as Deverou went for the door.

"Everything will be okay; now go home." He said looking over his shoulder to see the look of fear and uncertainty on the man's face.

Deverou turned and left, sure that the man would do as he was told, and made his way to the conference room that Mr. Anderson told him about. He entered the room quietly, but Torchwick was pretty sharp. "Mr. Anderson…" He said turning, before fixing eyes on Deverou.

"Surprised to see me?" Deverou said with a cocky grin.

Roman seemed unsurprised actually, as he put out his cigar calmly and sighed. "In my line of work we are to prepare for any outcome…" He pointed his cane at Deverou and the crosshair popped up, "It's a shame to say I saw interference coming, especially with that spineless coward Anderson." He fired, and Deverou barely had time to draw his blade. He dove beneath the conference table to avoid the blast, and Torchwick took the opportunity to run and toss a grenade on the way out. Deverou heard the pin pull and the door slam shut and gauged he had about three seconds, he quickly rose and jumped out the window as the blast went off. He drew his chain-scythe and threw it at the building where it snagged nicely.

"Well, that was interesting." He climbed the chain and took off for the roof; sure that Torchwick would go that way to avoid security. He arrived at the roof, just in time to see Torchwick wave at him as an airship flew off with him. A couple of men had been left behind to make trouble for him. "Great…small-fry…", He said clicking the small trigger near the chain on his chain-scythe to begin using fire Dust. The blade burst into flames and he spun it overhead, whipping and lashing out at the henchmen sending waved of flame at them. He corralled them into a circle where with a quick flick of the chain he brought it of his hand and shut off the flow of Dust before wrapping them up with the chain. He waited till the security team came to arrest them before returning to his client, Master Schnee. "Deverou, how long has your family served mine?" He asked, in his white suit as he faced the bookshelf in his study.

"For ages my lord; since your family's company was founded." He said kneeling and bowing towards his master.

"And has your job not always been completed with greatest efficiency?" He said fixing him with those cold blue eyes.

He knew the scolding was coming and braced himself for the worst. Master Schnee expected nothing but excellence from everyone in his life, and the White Fang attacking their shipments. He was especially hard on Weiss. But the man's hard-set face softened into an expression of neutrality. "You're family has served me well, and you have led countless missions to complete success. But I need you on a more important assignment that takes you out of the field for a time. I expect you will continue to serve me and protect my daughter at Beacon Academy?" He asked.

So he had been demoted from field agent to bodyguard, "Of course sir," He was disappointed but not entirely saddened, "I will give my life to protect Weiss…you need not worry about her."

"I trust you Deverou. She may not think I love her, but I'm only hard on her because I want to protect her. She is my greatest treasure; more valuable than all the Dust in the world." He said revealing a sentimental side that Deverou had seen on a rare occasion.

Deverou smiled slightly, "You may want to tell her that yourself."

"She would think I have gone mad. I have already spoken with Headmaster Ozpin, and under heavy recommendation he has accepted my offer to let you start next semester with Weiss." He said revealing the smile Deverou knew he was capable of.

"Thank you master, I will not disappoint you." He said rising from the floor and heading for the door.

"You never have Deverou, and you never will." He replied.
