The next morning it was really nice out. Sunny and warm. After all my thinking last night I wanted to play a game of soccer. I called Joe.

"Joe I wanna play soccer today."

There was a grunt.

"I had a lot to drink last night we'll do it tomorrow I promise." He half groaned into the phone. Oh yeah I forgot about that. I got dressed and went to the park myself. I didn't exactly have a ball with me but I ran a lot of track back in high school and every once in a while I would run. I plug in my headphones and start to jog listening to my work out mix which was made of this song mix:

Get Back Up-Starship
I'm Gonna Be (500 miles)- The Proclaimers
One Foot- Fun
On Top of the World- Imagine Dragons
Radioactive- Imagine Dragons
Carry On- Fun
Rogues Are We- Holy Musical B tman
Some Nights- Fun
To Be A Man- Holy Musical B tman
It Gets Better- Fun
Co2- Jim and the Povolos

I just ran around the park until my song list ran out. Walking at the slower songs and running to the beat of the faster songs. When I finished I walked home and ate a salad. I was on a health kick today. Then I did push ups until I realized that I was too weak to ever reach 100 push-ups. So after 30 I gave up and took a shower. I smelled awful. When I was cleaned I got dressed in uniform to go to work. I drank some juice out of the carton and left.

Work was okay. There is was never good nor bad. I missed bar tending. Waitressing wasn't bad I guess...I just had to interact with people I promised myself to never become when I was younger and I felt bad being especially nice to them when interacting. That was a weird thought but it was true.

"Davis!" My boss called me over. I sighed and trotted over.

"Yeah?" I answered casually but curiously.

"Emma had to call in for a family matter do you think you can take over the bar for tonight?" He asked. My smile grew.
"Yeah I can do that!" I exclaimed.

"Just for tonight Davis don't get carried away." He warned before turning and returned to whatever he did. Huh what did he do...

I shook the thought and rushed behind the bar. Remembering I had tables to tend I rushed to them quickly. I finished the families that I had and returned the bar every so often. I was so excited. I mixed drinks like no tomorrow I was giddy too which apparently brought attention. I wasn't doing it in purpose I was just really content with my job at the moment. There was something really satisfying about being in control of alcohol. The night ended however and I went home.

The next morning Joe came over and was dressed for some serious soccer. We left immediately after I grabbed a granola bar. I was really into this health stuff now.

We walked to the park with the soccer ball underneath my arm. My hair was in a high ponytail and I was wearing and old shirt, shorts and athletic sneakers I got at Walmart. Joe and I were playing one on one. The soccer field was empty. I stretched for a little before we met in the center.

"I assume you know the rules blah blah blah." We took our right feet and stuck them next to the ball.

"1...2...3 Go!" I called and tried to capture the ball. Joe got it in his control unfortunately but I caught up to him quick. He dove up the field and I crashed into him with my shoulders. I might as well have done that to a brick wall. I managed to kick the ball away from him after his stride and I dart to retrieve it. Joe does the same shoulder bump but he is a lot heavier than I am. I fall over rolling on the ground. Nothing that I haven't done in a game. When I was a Freshman in High School I would practice with my brother's team to get tougher. They were rough and they treated me as one of them. In the same tumble I roll back up and start darting again. Joe seemed surprised. I reach him again and cut him off completely, running in front of him. I kick the ball just in time and make my way back down the field. Joe sped ahead of me to be defense. I fake him off and kick the ball in the corner. No goalie so I scored. Smirking I turned and walk sassyingly back to the center.

"You move your hips more when your playing a sport." Joe pointed out.

"That is not the first time I heard that." I laughed back not quite as sassy. Some of my brothers teammates use to say that sometimes."

"That's because they were looking at your ass." Joe laughed. I turned back in almost horror.
"Really!?"

Joe nodded and smiled.

"Your ass looks really good when you do it."

I rolled my eyes.

"I don't know whether to be disgusted or flattered." We finally made it back to the center of the field. First to three won.

"Scared Walker?" I taunted, raising my eyebrows.

"In your dreams Davis." He death glared back and we were off again.

Joe scored the next point and the point after. Then I scored. We were tied for the last point. Joe was heading it down to my goal. I was getting tired so I wasn't running as fast, not doing as well. Neither was he but he made it up to the 18 yard line for a kick before I caught up to him. He ball went soaring in the air. I held my breath. The ball flew over the net. He missed. In a crazed laugh I go and get it from the bushes. I kicked the goal kick making it zoom down the field. I chased after it. This time I caught up and dribbled it until I reached a little into the 18. Joe could use his hands in this territory. I kicked it quick, just above the ground. Joe dove for it skidding the dirt. He was too late though he just missed the ball as it rolled into the net.

"I won!" I cheered.

Joe rolled his eyes.

"This one." He corrected me. "I'll get the next one."

I made a face before he handed me the ball. I walked ahead of him with a little skip in my step. Joe was trailing behind.
"Pick up the pace." I called back. He was grinning trotting slightly behind me. Behind.

"Are you looking at my ass again!" I exclaimed putting the pieces together.

"It just looks so good in those shorts. And your walking that way again." He defended himself. I rolled my eyes again before just sighing and walking straight. I guess I did feel a little flattered.

We went back to my place for smoothies. While I was getting the ingredients I saw something on the fridge that had almost made me drop them. I red circle around a date with a frowny face. I saw today's date. It was a week and three days away. How could I have forgotten. I take a deep breath and continued to make smoothies with the fact sticking in the back of my mind. A week and three days. 10 days away including today. Tomorrow will be single digits. This ruined my health kick and all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and eat chocolate. Joe got up to get a napkin only to be interrupted by the red circle of doom. He blinked twice I think wondering where all the time went and I put my head down.

"So," I broke the silence, "I see you saw the round figure of blood upon the date reminder." I worded. I would've been proud of myself if the news behind that sentence was better.

"Yeah." He answered sipping his smoothie. "Just wondering where all that time went."

What did I tell you?

I gulped. But Joe smiled at me.

"Come on it's not over yet! It's going to be the best 9 days of your life!" He cheered before kissing me on the cheek. I couldn't help but smile.
