Ok so I realized that Far has been kind of fading away, so this chapter will be from his pov. This was refreshing to write, since all the other chapters are either Mira, Ava, or Danny. Hope you guys enjoy! I'm super happy with how this turned out!
Reviewers:
IronFistRocks: I know right! Good point about the Hunger Games! As always, thanks for reviewing!
TooLazyToLogin: Haha! Glad to hear from you! And I'm happy you're not dead. Thanks so much, I wasn't sure how quickly or slowly I should move things along. Thanks for reviewing, I think you'll like this chapter quite a lot.
Far's pov
I'm not going to lie. I was terrified. Like, going to school and realizing you have no pants on, kind of terrified. But I've never been known for being particularly brave, so let me set the scene.
Columns of acidic smoke rose into the air as if holding up some type of Greek temple. Squat gray buildings were strewn around, like tiny factories. And about fifty giant, muscled dudes with flat tops and evil eyes marching around like military generals or cafeteria ladies or something equally scary.
Sounds like a great time right?
Yeah, I didn't think so. But hey, what was I supposed to do? Just leave Mira and Danny? They were my ride!
Besides, they totally needed me. Here they were, charging in like bulls to some crazy military campus on a mountain. For all we knew, this was a top secret government alien-contact project. But does anyone ever listen to the sane guy in the background? No!
"Far! Stop daydreaming and run!" Mira chastised. I sighed.
"You know these dudes could totally throw us off the mountain right?" I piped up cheerfully. Danny winced, but stayed silent. Man, Danny really needs to learn how to be less ominous. I bet he could be a really good villain, you know...if he wasn't already a hero...
"I don't want to think about that right now! They could be really nice for all you know!" Mira gasped, tripping in the snow.
"Seriously! That's like going up to a wild lion and saying 'this lion probably just wants to be my friend!'" I yelled back.
"Will you two be quiet! We are here!" Danny hissed. We looked up to see a tattered metal fence with more holes in it than Mira's logic.
We carefully ducked under it and found ourselves inside the camp.
"Welcome to Camp Nightmare, where everything wants to kill you," I muttered. Danny glared at me, but he couldn't get mad. This place was freaky.
Those tiny factories were massive from this close. And those body-building guards looked even more menacing. One of them walked up to us. I gulped.
He was about a foot taller than Danny and looked wider than Luke. His armor matched Danny's traditional one, only in black and red rather than green and gold. His tanned face was lacerated with so many scars that he looked like a jigsaw puzzle.
Oh. And he was wearing an eye-patch.
China, meet Nick Fury. Nick Fury, meet China.
"I am Davos. General of this base. State your names and business," He boomed in Chinese Mandarin.
"King Daniel, Kun'Lun's Immortal Weapon, Iron Fist," Danny stated. Talk about making people uncomfortable. Here he was with his gigantically unnecessary title, and me with my three letter name. Brilliant.
"Far..." I said awkwardly, "Danny's friend."
"And I am Mira Stone," She announced with false regality.
Davos had pretty much stopped listening when I started talking though. His eyes were trained on Danny.
"King Daniel! You have arrived! Please, forgive me for the confusion. You looked different among..." I swear Davos looked at me way more than at Mira. "Among friends of much lower status." He bowed to Danny.
The way this guy said friends sounded a lot like 'sidekicks.' I looked down at myself. My skinny jeans had a few holes, and my shoes could have been cleaner, but my coat was brand new!
"What is this place?" Danny asked. Davos gestured for us to walk with him. The snow had been shoveled away to form roads and paths. Guards were everywhere.
"We have been sent from Kun'Lun to patrol these cells," Davos told us, pointing to the gray buildings. I felt like I was on a tour.
"Why?" I wondered. Davos glared at me like I was some sort of peasant.
"One does not question Kun'Lunian government!" He said.
"Are you serious!" I huffed.
"Surely you can tell us something?" Danny asked politely. Davos softened and even smiled. I face-palmed.
"Believe me Your Highness, my men and I would tell you a thousand times what lies behind these walls, but we do not know. We were sent with orders to ask no questions," He explained.
"We understand. But now that Danny is here, perhaps we may be granted access to the cells?" Mira asked. Davos' dark eye gleamed. He nodded like a bobble head.
"Oh yes. Come, you can stay in a personal dorm while I arrange things," Davos led us to a square, beige dormitory. The doorway was a tarp and when we entered it was pretty much bare except for five cot-beds.
"This is an unused dorm, we didn't need it. So you may reside here for the duration of your visit. I apologize for its informality, I'm sure this must be very different than what you are accustomed to," Davos addressed Danny and Mira.
"Whereas you, well...this is probably very similar to what you are used to," He said to me. I was seething, but he was kind of right. SHIELD isn't exactly known for being a five-star hotel.
Thank you, for your hospitality. But I suppose one of us will have to tell the pilot of our intentions," Danny said. Mira looked up, staring at me. Willing me to leave her alone with Danny so they could probably get on with their terribly exciting romantics, like awkwardly staring at each other, and awkwardly blushing, and awkwardly brushing hands. All followed by more awkward staring. Talk about living on the edge.
"Not it!" I yelled. Mira rolled her eyes.
"Fine, I'll go. There is no way I'm being left alone with Far," She huffed. Danny chuckled.
"Be careful, it's getting colder," He lectured. Mira smiled and kissed his cheek! She. Kissed. His. Cheek! How did I miss that they were on kissing level! How!?
Mira smirked at the surprise on my face as she disappeared behind the tarp. Danny looked at me innocently.
"Pardon my forwardness, but your queen is definitely a beautiful prize, Kun'Lun will be lucky when she rules by your side," Davos interjected creepily. I groaned.
"My queen?" Danny turned bright red when he realized what that meant. "Oh! No! No no no! No! Mira is not my queen..." He stuttered. Davos cocked his head.
"She is not your betrothed?"
"No! She is my girlfriend. My love. But not...my queen..." Danny said quickly.
"As you wish, Your Highness. I will go prepare things," Davos left and Danny sat on a cot, blushing. I grinned.
"Well? When were you going to tell me that you and Mira are on kissing level? Did you kiss her for real yet? Like on the lips?" I asked in my best 'gossipy teen girl' voice.
"I was going to tell you never, because it's none of your business," Danny muttered. "But yes. Yes I did."
"Ooh! That's my Danny-boy! Nice!" I cheered. Danny rolled his eyes. Then froze.
"Wait."
"What's up?" I asked.
"You said Ava made you do something. When we were in her room. And Mira was crying."
"Uh..." I replied brilliantly.
"Explain," Danny sighed.
"It's nothing, Mira was just crying because Ava broke into her diary," I said casually. Danny's eyes widened.
"What! Why would Ava do that?"
"To see why Mira hates her so much! Duh!" I answered.
"Mira doesn't hate her. Does she?"
"Wow, you are totally dense. Did you really not see it?" I laughed.
"Far! Explain everything! Now!" Danny groaned.
"Um, well I was just minding my own business when Ava pulled me over. She said Mira hated her, which I already knew, and that she just read her diary. I guess Ava found out that Mira hates her because Mira knows that Ava really likes you. And Ava realized that Mira really likes you too, so she made a crazy plan to get rid of that. I was supposed to basically find out as much as possible about your relationship and if you like Ava at all. Which you didn't. So I was supposed to interrupt you and Mira as much as I could!" I finished.
Danny stared.
"Ava likes me? Since when?" He demanded. I sniggered.
"Uh...since forever? You are literally the most oblivious person ever!" I snorted.
"I was trained in perception Far," He muttered.
"Yeah dude, in battle. But when it comes to social problems, you are clueless! I can't believe you didn't know any of this!"
"Fine! But why you? What do you get out of it?"
"Well for one, I got to embarrass you two! And also Ava promised to give me enough money to buy my own clothes! Because those SHIELD issued things look like something a scarecrow would be embarrassed to wear!" I told him.
"So when you told me you liked Ava..." I could practically see the underused "social-life" part of Danny's brain working to figure it out.
"I was baiting you! She's cute and all, but like you said, I'm out of her league," I flexed imaginary muscles.
"I believe I said that she is out of your league, actually," Danny countered.
"Whatever. So...you're not telling Mira...right?" I asked seriously.
"Why not?"
"Because she will ground me into a pulp."
"What makes you think I won't?"
"You have morals. All life is sacred and all that. Mira is a teenage girl. First, she'll cry and vent and stomp around. Then she will give me the silent treatment. Then she will annihilate me. And then she'll become overjoyed and you two will kiss and live happily ever after! That's how it works," I deadpanned.
Danny smiled.
"Fine. But if you ever double cross me again, I will feed you to Shao-Lao myself!" He said brightly. Then he walked out of the dorm, leaving me to fear for my life.
Like I said. I was terrified.
I love writing in Far's pov. I don't know why, but I love it! Thanks for reading! Oh! I almost forgot! I think I might change the cover image sometime today or tomorrow. So look for that, I promise it'll be much better quality than the current one. Probably. Anyway...
Wolf out...
