Wow, this was annoying to type. I just finished a chapter of a different story for a different fandom and it was all in present tense. So for this, my brain kept telling me to write in present tense! So this is going up early because I'll be out tomorrow. I was going to update As You Wish, but like I said, I'll be out, and I don't have time to do it now. So that won't be done until later in the week. Sorry!

wordjumble29: Thanks, and as for your OC, you'll just have to see. Sorry. Thanks for reviewing and I think you'll like this chapter!
Mira's pov
The sound of melted hinges falling to the ground was now my favorite noise. Closely followed by the crash of the door collapsing. We stepped out into the cold, refreshing wind and grinned. I'm sure we didn't look too odd, just a few teens emerging from a holding sell after the door has just broken down. Far wore a smug smile, but Danny had a hard look about him.
"What?" I asked. He scanned the area.
"We need to find Davos before he tries something else." I sighed.
"No, we need to find Kun'Lun. That's where the problem originated," I said. Danny shook his head.
"This is bigger now. This place is wrong, and we're going to fix it," He stated simply, as if it was obvious. Far grinned.
"Um, excuse me Mr. Heroic, but how exactly are we going to do that?"
"Firstly, by finding Davos." Danny began walking off with purpose. We followed. The camp looked different to me now that I knew what it was. The shadows seemed longer and faces seemed so unfriendly. Suddenly, a clamor of voices rang out, shouting insults and profanity. We turned to see a guard with dark black hair and a missing arm screaming at his troops.
He was scratching frantically at one of the doors to the cells, while some other men held him back. He was shrieking, eyes wide and crazed.
"Let me in! Open the door! My daughter is in there! Let me in!" His voice was choked by sobs, just in the back of his throat. For a moment I froze, thinking about my own father. Then I was running over there, Far and Danny just behind me.
"Hey!" I yelled at the men restraining him, "Hey!" No one looked up. I elbowed my way into the crowd and tried prying people away from the distraught father. A flash of pain exploded in my nose as a heavy arm struck me. I stumbled backwards, tears of fury in my eyes. A familiar sticky liquid ran down my lips and over my chin.
"Mira!" Danny shouted. I waved him away and swiveled around to look beyond the throngs of men. On the outskirts of the crowd were a couple more guards, watching us with bemused looks.
I ran over.
"Come on! Help us!" I cried, wiping away my blood with my sleeve. They looked at each other, then back at me.
"Why?"
"BECAUSE THAT MAN IS TRYING TO GET TO HIS DAUGHTER!"
"Indeed, Yosuke. There is nothing to be done about it," One said. He was bald with pink skin and dirty fingernails. He picked at his ear. I scrunched up my face in disgust, sending a jolt of pain to my nose.
I noticed suddenly that these men all wore golden bracelets and golden chest plates.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"We are the higher guard, the only ones who get to see what's inside those cells. I bet you would like to know very much," He taunted. I held my head high.
"Yeah, I would love to see your test chambers full of diseased patients that you use gas to kill," I said sweetly. He stared at me.
"Smart maid. But be careful what you say in public," He snarled in my ear. I felt his hand grab my arm and draw me closer to his stinking breath. I struggled out of his grasp, gasping.
"If you are the only ones who know, then why does he?" I gestured to the armless man, or Yosuke. The man shrugged.
"Sometimes they find out, only natural. But there is a very convenient solution," He laughed. It was an ugly sound. I looked back to see Yosuke screaming about killing gas, he was trying to warn them. But the other guards wouldn't listen, they continued to pull him away from the cell. Danny and Far were in the center of it all, trying to help Yosuke get free, and trying to back up his words.
The higher guard reached behind his back and pulled out a small wooden tube. He pressed something sharp into it, with feathers at its end, and blew. I watched as the dart hit Yosuke in the neck. He froze, then collapsed to the floor, twitching and jerking until he lay still, bloodied foam emerging from his mouth.
I stared in horror as the other men picked him up and walked to one of the fire pits. They casually tossed his body onto the flames and then wiped their hands on their pants, without batting an eye. The corpse blackened quickly, making the fire jump up for a second, then leaving it low and content. Danny and Far were struck dumb, standing there.
I slowly turned to the higher guard, a mix of disgust and terror visible on my face. He grinned a yellow-toothed grin at me, then tucked the dart tube back into his back pocket.
"Watch what you say," he repeated, laughing, as he and his entourage paraded away.
Danny and Far came up beside me.
"Did that...Did that just happen?" Far asked in disbelief.
"I believe so..." Danny said in a hushed whisper.
"Forget Davos," I muttered, "We're going after them."
"Mira, you're still bleeding," Danny said. I brought a hand to my lower face, it came away red. I rolled my eyes.
"Great."
"You look like something out of a horror movie," Far laughed. I tried to kick him and he quickly swerved out of the way. "Hey, I'd watch it," Far grinned.
"Come on, we need to follow them," I glared ahead. "My dress is ruined," I murmured, staring at my bloodstained sleeve. I stalked past Danny and Far. Far shrugged.
"Okay, fine. So...you know where they are?" He asked.
"No," I told him.
"Oh great. Do you know their names?"
"No."
"Uh-huh...Do you remember how many there were?"
"Shut up Far!" I yelled.
"I'll take that as a no..." We aimlessly walked in silence for a few more minutes. Until Far decided to grace us with his brilliant words.
"You realize that this is a suicide mission right? I mean, these guys seem pretty content with their cult, and their poison darts. Maybe we should let them be, live alongside them, send them a muffin basket."
I turned around to stare at him, but he was dead serious. I was about to say something but Danny beat me to it.
"What is wrong you?! Stop being such a coward and come on!" He said. I nodded. Far crossed his arms.
"Sorry Mr. High and Mighty. I was just kidding...mostly..." He muttered. I rolled my eyes. Some people are the little sibling you never wanted, and some people are the idiot you never asked for. In spite of myself, I smiled.
Hope you guys enjoyed! Please review and anyway...
Wolf out...
