Sun and Moon (a 'Pokemon X/Y' fic)
Disc.: I will never ever own a great series like this one, so for now I'll to settle on writing fics like this one.
A/N: I recently have been stuck in a writer's block, and it was not fun…at all; after doing some thinking and playing more Alpha Sapphire, I finally managed to get myself back on track and am gonna add a twist to the fic…it was talked about between me and a wonderfully faithful reviewer named 23StellaOrgana (you are really awesome, btw…thanks for loving the story), and we decided on a few things to be added into the story. Those will be revealed at a later time either in this chapter or the next one, but for now enjoy Ch.7 and be sure to look forward to the finale of my 'Legend of Spyro' crossover series…which will be posted at a later date in the year.
Ch.7- Sowing Potential
The sky over Kalos was starting to become tinged pink, a sign that the sun would be coming up to warm the world very soon. Wallace stretched in his sleep and threw his arms around Luca, the brunette Hoenn Champion snuggling closer into his lover's embrace as he smiled in his sleep; the two lovers had never felt more at peace then they did right now in each other's arms, their minds at ease with the fact that nothing could ruin this moment between them.
A few hours later, the sun had risen up over Kalos and thus began a new day for everyone that lived there…human and Pokemon alike were all starting their daily routines, including Wallace and his brunette lover as they ate breakfast with their Pokemon; the day itself was incredibly clear and beautiful, both males deciding that it would be a waste not to have a picnic so they bought some food and packed it into a basket before leaving their hotel room for the day. When they made it to the top of a large hill, Luca noticed that they could see Coumarine City from where they were sitting so him and Wallace let their Pokemon out and enjoyed a wonderful picnic with just the two of them and their Pokemon.
As the teal haired Gym Leader sat enjoying the picnic with his lover and their Pokemon, Yuèliàng slipped away when she sensed the presence of another Pokemon hiding nearby; the Dark Pokemon could feel the presence of not just one, but two Pokemon hiding nearby, so she used Dark Pulse to lure them out…a minute or so later, Uxie and Azelf jumped out and floated over towards her, all three Pokemon at a standstill as Yuèliàng tensed up in case she needed to fight them both at the same time.
[This next part is Uxie, Azelf, and Umbreon talking to each other, so please don't be weirded out by the dialogue shown here.]
"(Who are you, and what do you want with us?)"
"[We're sorry for following you, but we need to find the one called Luca…it's urgent that we locate him as soon as possible.]"
"(You didn't answer my question…you have 2 seconds to tell me who you are or I'll use Dark Pulse again, and this time I won't go easy or miss.)"
Azelf could sense that this Umbreon was very protective of her master, but they were running out of time so he moved to use a Psychic attack on her when Uxie floated in front of him and threw his arms up to block him.
"(Riley, what are you doing?!)"
"(Alexander, just trust me…you wouldn't be able to beat her anyway, she's a Dark Type; our Psychic attacks wouldn't affect her…right now, we need diplomacy and not violence.)"
"(*sighs* You'd better know what you're doing.)"
"(Trust me on this one, brother…I apologize for his behavior, m'lady; my name's Riley, and this is my brother Alexander. We've come from Hoenn to find Luca, we're hoping he'll help us save our friend Xerneas…she was taken away and we need to get her back to the King's Forest or it will die. Please, can you take us to Luca if he's nearby?)"
"(I'll take you to him, but I don't trust either of you just yet…Luca will decide for himself if he trusts you, so follow me.)"
The two Lake Guardians nodded at Yuèliàng and followed after her, the shiny female Umbreon making sure to keep careful watch of their actions as all three Pokemon soon arrived back at the hilltop where Luca and Wallace were still having lunch with the other Pokemon on their teams.
To say that Yuèliàng coming back with two Legendary Pokemon in tow was surprising would be the understatement of the century, the two lovers looking at each other and back at the Legendary Pokemon…Uxie and Azelf floating over to Wallace and Luca while watching them with hopeful expressions.
The brunette Hoenn Champion stared at Azelf for a few minutes, the blue and grey Lake Guardian floating around him and chirping at him when Luca patted his head affectionately. Wallace was appraising Uxie but soon smiled at him, the yellow and grey Lake Guardian smiling warmly at the teal haired Gym Leader.
"I saw you…in my dreams; do you still need our help saving your friend?"
Both Lake Guardians nodded at the brunette Hoenn Champion, the Lake Guardians perching themselves on top of both males' heads. After another 10 minutes, the two lovers shared a passionate kiss before cleaning up with the help of their Pokemon and then recalling them into their Pokeballs…all of them heading towards the Coumarine Gym to watch Ash battle the Gym Leader.
(Coumarine City)
When the two lovers arrived at Coumarine City, Azelf pointed towards an absolutely huge tree sitting on top of a hill at the very edge of the City. Wallace started walking towards it with his lover at his side, the two males finally reaching the tree after 20 minutes of walking. As they stared up at the huge tree, Luca saw that there were thick vines they could use to climb up the tree so him and his teal haired lover began the long climb up to the top of the tree…neither aware that they were being watched by two more sets of eyes.
(Coumarine Gym)
When Luca and Wallace finally made it up to the top of the tree, they saw Ash was already battling the Leader…and losing. The Leader was down to his last Pokemon, which was a Gogoat; and from the looks of the battle thus far, Ash had lost 2 Pokemon to the Grass Type already. Azelf and Uxie were both watching the battle, the Lake Guardians eager to see who the raven haired Trainer would choose as his next Pokemon as the two lovers kept an eye on the battlefield to see how things would turn out.
"Frogadier, I choose you!" Ash said as he tossed a Pokeball up into the air and released a blue and white frog Pokemon, Frogadier letting out a croak of anticipation as it eyed its' opponent.
"I don't understand what Ash is doing…why would he send a Water Type out to battle a Grass Type? Wouldn't he be at a disadvantage?" Serena asked Clemont, confusion clear on her face as the blonde science loving Gym Leader smiled when he realized what his boyfriend was doing.
"Well, this is Ash we're talking about, Serena…he's probably got a trick of two up his sleeve for this final match."
"I hope so, Clemont…I really do hope so." the blonde girl said worriedly, her heart beating in her chest as she watched the battle take place.
"Frogadier, use Aerial Ace!"
"Gogoat, dodge it and use Vine Whip."
As the battle got ready to start up again, Bonnie looked over in the direction of Uxie and Azelf, but the Lake Guardians had flown away from the teal haired Gym Leader and brunette Hoenn Champion before the blonde girl could see them…which made her brother wonder what she was looking at.
"Bonnie, what are you looking at?" Clemont asked his sister when he saw her look in the direction of some smaller trees that were grouped together inside the massive tree that doubled as a Grass Type Gym.
"I thought I saw a Pokemon over there."
"Over where?"
"By the smaller trees clustered together." Bonnie said as she pointed over by the trees where Azelf and Uxie were hiding, both of them praying to Arceus that she hadn't seen either one of them.
"I don't see anything, Bonnie…just some small trees." Clemont said, Serena also looking over at them and seeing nothing but the trees.
"Your brother's right, Bonnie…nothing's over there except some small trees bunched into a group."
"But-"
"Even if there was a Pokemon over there, it probably ran off when you looked at it…wild Pokemon tend to be more skittish and scared around humans, so whatever was there before is gone now."
The blonde girl looked away after huffing sadly, the Lake Guardians glad that they hadn't been spotted as they both decided to just wait until the little blonde girl and her friends were gone before coming out of hiding.
Back on the battlefield, both Pokemon obeyed their Trainers' commands, the Grass Pokemon jumping away from the blade of air thrown at it and then using vines from its' shoulder blades to repeatedly whip Frogadier all over its' body. Ash watched his Pokemon get beaten by his opponent when he told his partner to jump up and use Double Team to confuse Gogoat.
This strategy proved futile as Gogoat kept picking out which one of the illusions was his opponent by listening for Frogadier's footsteps on the ground, the Grass Pokemon using Razor Leaf in a whirlwind that surrounded his opponent and kept hammering him with blow after blow; the raven haired Trainer was certain that he'd lose this battle when he remembered Ramos' words from before the battle began, when they were pulling weeds.
"Frogadier, listen to me…forget about the leaves and focus on Gogoat; jump up and use Aerial Ace!"
The blue and white frog Pokemon nodded before he jumped up into the air and fired off his most powerful Aerial Ace at his opponent, the attack hitting Gogoat dead center and knocking it unconscious.
"Gogoat is unable to battle, Frogadier wins…which means the victory goes to the opponent and his Pokemon." The referee said loud enough for everyone to hear, Ash and his friends cheering while Frogadier smiled at his Trainer happily.
"Well now, I gotta say…you sure caught me by surprise there, whippersnapper."
"Yeah, well I remembered what you said to me earlier…if I just kept on rushing through my battle and saw only the win, I would've missed what was really important."
"Good, I'm glad you followed my advice…here's proof of your victory, the Plant Badge."
Ash smiled as he took the badge from its' case and slipped it into his own, Ramos looking over to the far left of the battlefield and saw Wallace standing there with Luca.
"Well now, looks like we had us a couple witnesses…it's not often that we're watched by the Sootopolis Gym Leader and his companion." Ramos said with a smile on his aged face as he saw the two males come over to him, Ash and his friends surprised that they'd shown up yet at the same time happy that they'd come to watch him battle.
"Hello, Ramos…it's so good to see you; you're looking rather spry for your age." Wallace said with a slight grin on his face.
"Wallace, you know him?" Luca asked curiously, his older lover smiling at him; Ash and his friends were also curious as to how the two older men knew each other.
"Yes, Luca…Ramos and I trained our Pokemon together before I took my place as the Sootopolis Gym Leader, and we've always found time to compare battle strategies and notes on Type advantage and disadvantage; anyway, I'm glad that Ash gave you such a wonderful battle Ramos…the boy has certainly proven he's worth his salt."
"Indeed he has, Wallace. Now then, whippersnapper, I suggest you head to Laverre City for your next Gym Battle. But first, you should rest your Pokemon as a way of thanking them for working so hard today."
Ash nodded at Ramos and smiled at Luca and Wallace before climbing back down the massive tree followed by his friends, all of them heading to the Pokemon Center in Coumarine City. Wallace and Luca both looked at the raven haired Trainer rush off out of the tree, his energy never seeming to go away.
"Ramos…you didn't tell him that the next Gym Leader is gonna be different than any other he's faced before?" the teal haired Gym Leader asked the older Grass Type Leader, a smile coming onto Ramos' slightly wrinkled face.
"No; it seems that as I get older, my preoccupation is often geared more towards the simpler things in life…such as my ranch, my gardens, and all my wonderful Pokemon."
"What's so different about the next Gym Leader, Wallace?" the brunette Hoenn Champion asked his older lover, the teal haired Gym Leader getting a sort of far off look in his eyes as he recalled what he'd been told of the next Gym Leader.
"Her name's Valerie Jonas (no relation to the Jonas brothers, lol), and she uses a pretty new Type of Pokemon called the Fairy Type…not much is known about this new Type, except that it's weak to Steel and Poison Types; Ash will need a good strong Steel Type to face her and come out on top."
"Hopefully he'll figure that out before he battles her, but for now let's get going and try to find where Xerneas could've been taken."
Ramos watched as the two males walked away, but he cleared his throat and made them turn to face him.
"Are you talking about the Kalos Legendary Pokemon, by chance?"
"Yeah…it's been taken hostage; but by who, we don't know."
Before either of the two lovers could speak up again, Uxie and Azelf came out of hiding when they sensed that Ash and his friends were gone…both Lake Guardians hovering around Luca and Wallace, which made Ramos smile at seeing the two sibling Legendary Pokemon as he came up with a suggestion as to where the brunette Hoenn Champion and the teal haired Gym Leader could go next.
"Hmm…might this have something to do with Azelf and Uxie? They are, after all, the messengers between Legendary Pokemon and humans; it's been this way ever since time itself has begun. Unfortunately, I don't know much else about the legends; try asking around in Geosenge Town, the people there are more connected to the legends than the rest of us in Kalos."
"You know, that might not be such a bad idea…thank you, Ramos." Luca said as he smiled at Wallace and the two lovers headed out of the massive tree that doubled as a Grass Type Gym with the Lake Guardians floating along next to them, the older man deciding to close up his Gym for the day and spend the time with his Pokemon.
After all, when your days are numbered and you just keep getting older, you tend to need time for the smaller things in life…because you never know when tomorrow could be your next day or your last.
