"KAI!? LUCY!? Natsu? G-Gray? Erza…" she screamed, before her breath hitched and tears started to fall from her eyes.
She curled herself into a ball, laying on her side in protective fetal position, as her face was buried in her arm, soaking the sleeve of her nightgown with tears. Her body shook as sobs erupted from her mouth; she desperately tried to stop herself, and thought of what Master Makarov would say if he saw her like this, but it only made her cry more. She couldn't protect the ones she cared about, her second family, and she had watched them fall to the ground. Her free arm gripped her head tightly as her soul started to become broken, along with her mind.
Her thoughts were moving so fast, encasing her with the memories of her families' deaths, that she didn't notice the door of the room creak open, and a boy run to her side. She began muttering the names of her lost friends, whispering apologies to them as if it was all her fault. Suddenly, two arms wrapped around her and pulled her upright, holding her closely in a comforting embrace. Her sobs quickly ceased as she looked up, her bangs falling over one of her eyes, to see pale blue eyes looking at her with care. Her eyes widened as she saw the short, pale, blond hair above them, slightly messy, but had recently been brushed.
"K-Kai!? H-how!?" she gasped, gripping onto his shirt.
"Aurea, calm down, it's okay!" he exclaimed, holding the small girl tighter.
Finding comfort in the boys arms, her breathing slowed but her grip did not falter, as if the moment she let go, she would lose him again. Her mind slowly fixed itself, at least partially, as she took in her best friend's warmth. When Kai was completely sure Aurea had calmed down, he loosened his grip, but didn't let her go yet.
"You're okay!" she exclaimed, hugging Kai tightly and smiling brightly.
"Yup!" Kai replied, happy to see Aurea as her 'normal self' once more. "Everyone else is too! Turns out once Happy saw trouble, he flew out of the place and went to go get help!"
"I'm glad." The light mage sighed, nuzzling her face into Kai's shirt.
"Yeah, I'm glad you're okay too. You scared everyone, you know that? You've been out for a week! I'm glad Ms. Angele (pronounced Angel) was able to get you to eat something, or you would've starved!" Kai replied.
"Ms. Angele?" Aurea asked, "Who's that?"
"She's the person who got us out of there! Can you get up, cause I wanna tell everyone you're awake!"
"Yeah, I think so." The two let go of each other and slipped off of the bed.
Aurea stumbled a bit at first, but straightened herself quickly and walked with Kai happily. He ran off to find the group, but in her weak state, she quickly had to stop and sit down. She leaned up against the peach wall and closed her eyes gently, but quickly snapping them open as a strange image of shadows shot through her mind. She stumbled, seeing red liquid before her and her friends laying on the floor, but the blood wasn't from them, and the shadows seemed to be coming from her. Her breath hitched and her stomach clenched, causing her to dash into another room, hoping it was the bathroom. Thankfully it was, and the limited contents of her stomach was now in a white basin and soon entered the sewers. Aurea shivered and climbed on the stool that was placed in front of the sink. She looked at herself in the mirror curiously, and saw her messy hair. She raised a hand slowly and moved the bangs out of her face, uncovering her right eye, only to see a strange image in front of her. It was strange enough that a small section of her bangs had paled and turned blonde, but now a red eye replaced her soft, golden one and the color slowly seemed to swirl as if it contained live magic. Aurea blinked rapidly to make sure she was seeing everything correctly, and when she was sure it wasn't some trick of the light, she let out a small yelp and fell from the stood, afraid of her own reflection.
As if someone had heard her fright, small footsteps echoed on the floor and a woman entered the room, concern written on her face. Aurea gasped, seeing the woman that she had just seen in her dream a few moments earlier, except this time her eyes were visible. They were a beautiful shade of deep blue, almost purple, and had a dash of knowledge to them. She wore a cloak and a white dress with golden embroidery along the edges, and golden patterns along the sleeves and base could be seen beneath it. Her feet were bare, but they looked as soft as her normal skin anyway. She looked a bit shock to see the young girl on the floor, but quickly came over shyly and looked at Aurea with caring eyes.
"Oh my, are you alright?" she asked quietly.
Aurea just stared blankly at the woman before scooting back a bit and sitting in an upwards fetal position, her different-colored eyes peeking out from behind her legs. Even though she usually had a very open personality, her recent experiences caused her to be wary and a bit more careful around strangers. She clutched the fabric of her gown and her hair pooled around over her shoulders. She opened her mouth to say something, but quickly shut it as more footsteps could be heard running down the hallways. Soon enough, a group of four "adults", one child, and a cat came into view, causing Aurea to scramble to her knees and stare at the group. Team Natsu stood in front of her, their injuries seemed to be restricted to scars of small scratches and they all seemed to be in perfect health. Seeing this, tears unknowingly entered Aurea's eyes and she stumbled to her feet and dashed into a running hug, straight into Natsu's waist, before sobbing into his pants happily.
"Aurea, you're awake!" Lucy exclaimed happily.
"Whoa, what's wrong?" Natsu asked, a bit surprised by the sudden tears.
Aurea just laughed through her cries and looked at all of them affectionately, "You're all alright! I'm so happy!" she cried, a large smile on her face.
At this, Gray kneeled down to the young girl's height and ruffled her hair saying, "Hey, why are you so surprised? Don't doubt us just yet."
"Yeah, team Natsu is the strongest team in Fairy Tail!" Happy declared, jumping in the air.
"We're not leaving any time soon." Erza reassured, earning a happy nod in return.
"Oh, hello Miss Angele! I didn't know you were over here! I thought you were in the backyard!" Kai greeted, looking behind Aurea at the woman.
Aurea turned around shyly and looked up at the kind woman, now noticing that she was a lot shorter than the rest of the adults, and appeared to be around 14 years old. "Oh, so you're Miss Angele? I'm sorry for acting so rude before…" Aurea apologized, looking at her feet.
Angele seemed to giggle at this before looking at Aurea knowingly and smiling. "It's alright. Well, Now I've been introduced, so what's your name?" she asked.
"Oh, my name's Aurea! Nice to meet you!" she replied, waving at the girl in front of her, but as she took in her appearance again, she frowned a bit. "Why…why were you in my dream?"
