Xiaolin Showdown and TDI!
Review amount goes to... wow... uh... nine... so, only nine gilded Chris go out... Uh... well, at least at the date I'm at.
Sarah and Chris broke the surface of the lake long after dark, and they secretly made their way across the island quickly. They went through the woods, and completely ignored all the others. But they realized that the others were still looking for them when they ran into DeShawn's group.
"I'm telling you, I'm glad that Sarah bitch is gone!" DeShawn said nodding, and Sarah cringed in shock. "I have no doubt that she is the very first woman who has insisted that I stay away from her."
"What are you, some kind of playboy?" DJ shot back.
"I'm not just a playboy," DeShawn laughed. "I'm a guy who takes what girl he wants, when he wants. No girl has resisted my charms until Sarah. And since the little bitch said no three times… well, let's just say that if I can't have her, then no guy can have her."
"Come on," Chris whispered as he ushered her past the campsite that they were at.
Sarah was about to go into hysterics when Chris finally got to the medical cabin and opened it. He pushed her in before closing the door and locking it behind them. She was about to start wrecking the room when he popped a pill into her mouth and held her mouth and nose closed. The trick worked, and she swallowed the pills dry.
Within moments, she collapsed into his waiting arms, and he put her on the bed. He had been lucky to be able to dive back into the water to get his backpack and gear before coming back to the camp, and even luckier to find that his cell phone was still in the medical cabin where he'd left it. To no surprise, there were a multitude of missed calls, mostly from the producers.
"Chris?" he heard chef ask as the larger man walked in, and he jerked up in surprise. "Where were you?"
"I got lost," Chris said calmly. "Sarah was lost in the woods, to a degree."
"There's a story," Chef said as he closed the door.
"DeShawn pushed us off the cliff," Chris explained. "We barely survived, and when we got out of the water, we were too tired to get very far. We stayed in the forest and kept moving around, and we finally found our way back here, with Sarah's help. I'm no good at navigation."
"But how?" Chef asked. "You were lost…"
"Yeah, but Sarah was able to use the stars to figure out where we were on the island, or to an approximate degree," Chris yawned before beginning to sway on his feet. "So hungry…"
Chef rolled his eyes before leaving the medical cabin, leaving Chris to drop his barely-survived façade and sit next to Sarah's bed. He was exhausted, yes, and even though he knew that Sarah was eleven years younger than him, he still couldn't help but feel the same nagging feelings of the tugging behind his navel and his chest constricting whenever he looked at her. He yawned, and let his head fall to the side for him to fall asleep. It didn't take long for the dark void of slumber to take over him.
Meanwhile, Chef was rounding up all the other campers, starting with those on the Killer Bass. It took a while, but finally he found them on the cliff trying to figure out what on earth had happened to Chris and Sarah.
"Head back to the main lodge," he said, and Edward and Trinity nodded.
Brett, however, had other ideas. He followed Chef to where the Screaming Gophers were talking about Chris and Sarah. But it was to both Brett and Chef's shock that DeShawn was still going on about how he'd forced Sarah over the edge for refusing him and then Chris for trying to help her, as well as mistaking him for Edward at the time.
Brett's face flushed with rage, but Chef was calm as he blew a whistle and ordered the Screaming Gophers cabin to run around the lake five times. They jerked, unsure of what was going on, and he yelled that they weren't even trying, so they would keep an eye out while running. All went, albeit very grudgingly. Justina, however, approached Chef by holding back after all her teammates were out of sight, and DeShawn held back somewhat to keep an eye on her.
"DeShawn keeps talking about how he killed them," Justina said quietly, and DeShawn narrowed his eyes. "Are Chris and Sarah…?"
"Alive," he snapped before raising his voice. "Get moving, soldier."
"Chef, when's breakfast?!" Logan whined.
"You maggots don't eat until you've completed the first two laps around the lake!" Chef bellowed at them, and they began running faster than they ever thought possible.
"Guys, Chef knows," DeShawn said as he caught up to Haden and Logan. "Justina betrayed us. If she betrays us on this tiny thing, then who knows what she'll do to us. She's a liability."
"I'll get the others to kick her off," Haden snickered. "After all, nobody wants to end up like Sarah did."
As Haden, Logan, and DeShawn passed by the main lodge for the first time, Chef noticed that Haden was talking while running. He narrowed his eyes and then instructed the Killer Bass to keep tally of how many times each of the screaming gophers went around the lodge. Just as soon as Edward and Trinity were on guard, he headed up towards the medical cabin to check on Chris and Sarah.
Chris was now fast asleep, and Sarah showed no signs of waking up anytime soon. Sarah kept muttering something about otters in her sleep, with Chris shivering every so often. It wasn't long at all before Sarah's mutterings switched to her tossing and turning in her sleep, with her dream switching quickly to a nightmare of her mother. Chris meanwhile, had come to be shaking nonstop and trying to rub himself in his sleep to get warm.
Chef put his hands on each of their foreheads to find that both of them had fevers. He rolled his eyes and got out a Tylenol, and woke up Chris. The shivering man looked at the pill groggily before pushing Chef's hand away and trying to go back to sleep while trying to get warm.
"Chris," Chef snapped, and he was immediately alert in realizing that it wasn't a hallucination. "Take it."
Chris swallowed the pill dry, pulled out a blanket from the closet, and curled up in the chair underneath the blanket. Chef then produced some soups that he'd ordered and had rushed to the island, and chris stared at it before smiling as Chef began heating up two cans of chicken noodle soup.
"So, how did the campers do without me?" chris asked. "I heard the Killer Bass looking for us."
"And the gophers?" Chef asked, and Chris shook his head confused.
"No… why?"
"I gave them a challenge to see who could find you first," Chef said calmly. "Whichever team found you first got a reward, and whichever team found sarah first got a reward. Neither of them found you, so I don't think either of them get a reward."
"No, but I do know who's going to be kicked off," Chris scowled. "I'm going to get that good-for-nothing DeShawn kicked off the island! Do you know what he did to me?"
"Pushed you over the cliff and told all the other campers you were dead," Chef nodded with a scowl. "I hate him. He's got guts, and he won't be alive long if Edward ever figures out what he did."
"Oh, he won't be alive for very long anyways," Chris laughed before going into a coughing fit. "ow… how did this happen?"
"I believe it's because you stayed outside for too long," chef snorted as he began heating up the second can for Sarah. "You think you'll be ready for the next challenge?"
"I hope so," Chris moaned as he began drinking the broth.
DeShawn will be off the island before the game is out, I promise!
