Ch.9- Dark Realizations
Ash woke up feeling the happiest he'd ever felt in a long time, his victory against Ramos still playing in his head as he looked down to find Clemont snuggled up against his side and smiling…the raven haired Trainer also smiling as he let his hand drape down to settle on his lover's hip. After the battle against Ramos, both lovers had decided to come out about their relationship and told the girls; Bonnie took it surprisingly well, the young blonde girl and her Dedenne being happy for them and wishing them all the happiness in the world.
Serena, on the other hand, didn't handle it as well as Bonnie…she cried for 3 hours straight before packing up her bags and leaving the group, saying that she couldn't be around them knowing that the one she loved was in love with someone else; it'd already been nearly a day since she left, and Ash wasn't regretting the choice him and his lover had made…sure he lost a traveling companion, maybe even a friend, but at least him and Clemont weren't hiding their love from the world anymore.
And that sense of relief was worth losing someone as shallow as Serena, the raven haired Trainer knowing for a while that she loved him as more than a friend…he'd seen the signs with his other female friends over the years, such as Misty, Dawn, May, and Iris; even Annabelle, who was a Gym Leader, had some form of affection for him. He had told them all that he couldn't love them in that way because he was still trying to experience things at his own pace and for that reason they'd backed off in their amorous intentions.
As the sun kept rising, Clemont let out a sleepy half yawn/half moan to let Ash know that he was starting to wake up…Ash finding the sound to be adorable as he tenderly placed a kiss to the blonde's forehead. The feeling of his boyfriend's lips to his skin made Clemont open his cornflower blue irises and he looked up at Ash with a happy smile on his face, the raven haired Trainer leaning down and capturing his lover's lips in a sweet and gentle kiss that soon became fiery and passionate as they allowed their tongues to come into play…the kiss becoming even more heated as they each tried to be dominant but in the end, Clemont submitted to his raven haired lover's skilled tongue that eagerly ran across his own tongue and teeth until they could feel the much needed oxygen to survive start to interfere with their passionate liplock and broke away to breathe.
Ash ran his hand over his lover's blonde locks and placed a small kiss to his forehead again, Clemont giggling at his boyfriend's need to show affection to him every time they were together. After a few more minutes of sharing an embrace and a couple more kisses, the two Trainers got up and took a shower together before getting dressed for the day and joining Bonnie for breakfast; it felt strange not having Serena with them that morning, but the two lovers quickly dismissed the feeling when they realized that their love didn't have to be hidden anymore…and that brought them both a huge sense of relief.
After breakfast was finished, the now group of 3 Trainers began heading to Laverre City to challenge the Gym Leader for their Badge.
(2 days later)
Ash had learned the hard way that the Fairy Type had few weaknesses, most notably Steel and Poison but he was relieved when he'd managed to pull off a victory against Valerie…the Fairy Badge sitting in his Badge Case, Clemont suggesting that they all go on a picnic to celebrate his boyfriend's win against Valerie. All of them agreed and the next thing they knew all of them were sitting on a grassy hill and watching the clouds roll by in the endless blue over the Kalos Region, the raven haired Trainer telling Bonnie and Clemont that he was gonna stretch his legs and would be back a little later; the blonde Gym Leader watched his boyfriend walk off, Bonnie laying down for a nap with Dedenne curled up alongside her and Clemont doing the same shortly afterwards. Pikachu and the raven haired Trainer's other Pokemon also decided to take advantage of the nice weather and joined their other friends in the land of dreams.
(Diamond Cave)
Ash could feel his face light up with the biggest smile ever as he marveled at all the beautiful diamonds and gems in the cave he was currently walking through, the crystals being different shades of blue, green, and even pink. Carbink were watching him and hopping either out of his way or beside him as he laughed at their antics, the raven haired Trainer following a glow that spread throughout the rest of the cave and drew him to it…his hazel orbs sparkling as he saw the whole room covered from floor to ceiling in thousands upon thousands of glittering diamonds that were mostly pink but also ranged into the green and blue category of color for gemstones, Ash wishing that Clemont and Bonnie were here to see this with him as one diamond in particular caught his eye…it was rooted into the ground and glittering in the light of the other diamonds, Ash immediately forgetting the other gems and going towards the diamond after wading through water that went up to his hips.
The diamond was on a circular ledge made of pure stone with several smaller non diamond rocks strewn about in random places, the ground not bothering the raven haired Trainer as he leaned down to look at the diamond entrancing him and was surprised at the beauty of it up close; it was pure black with pale red swirls in a filigree esque design that ended in the middle of the gemstone, the shape resembling a tribal 'Y' as Ash reached out and touched it gently…his whole world fading to darkness shortly afterwards.
(Yveltal's Dreamscape)
Ash groaned as he woke up from his comatose state, the raven haired Trainer looking around and finding a forest that'd been turned to stone with scorch marks covering the ground and no sign of grass or any Pokemon running around…the whole scene reminded Ash of a post apocalyptic world after a world war and nuclear fallout had clashed, all life gone and him being the very last one left alive; it was heartbreaking and not at all pleasant as he broke down and started crying at the whole depressing scene, the sound of flapping wings making him look up through his tears to find a huge Pokemon staring at him with a somewhat sympathetic look on his face…Ash letting the tears streak down his pale tan face.
"Ash…don't cry, my little one; despite the ruination you see, this is paradise."
"How do you know who I am?" the raven haired Trainer asked as he wiped his remaining tears away with the back of his hand.
"I'm not surprised you don't remember who I am; after all, it's been years since last we met. I am Yveltal, and I have come to help you realize your potential."
Ash stared up at the Legendary Pokemon hovering in the air in front of him, confusion evident in his eyes.
"My potential?"
"Yes…I will help you mold your, at the moment, raw battle skills; the only thing I ask in return is that you allow me the use of your body, because my own is still comatose and cannot awaken until I fulfill certain tasks."
"Wait…Nurse Joy told us about you, how you almost destroyed the world when you fought with Xerneas; why should I trust you?"
Ash turned away from Yveltal and started walking off when the Dark and Flying Pokemon spoke to him again.
"Why would you deny helping one who has watched over you ever since you were a child?"
Ash, not expecting to hear such a statement, turned back to look at Yveltal again with wide eyes.
"What are you talking about?"
"Haven't you always wondered who was watching you from a distance? When you were a little boy and your father Giovanni would always yell at you for even the littlest things, you'd run outside crying and hide behind a really tall tree…I would watch you through the eyes of another Pokemon, and felt great sympathy for you; you remember seeing my eyes when you saw that Eevee, the little one who came to visit you and cheer you up?"
Ash closed his eyes in thought, his mind recalling the memory from deep in his subconscious…he remembered there being an Eevee with blue eyes instead of the usual brown that they were known for having, his troubles going away every time he was with that Eevee; realization hit Ash square in the gut as he stumbled back slightly in disbelief, his hazel eyes connecting once more with Yveltal's.
"Th…That was you? All that time, it was you comforting me?!"
"Yes, it was…quite frankly, I'm upset that you forgot about me. But I'll forgive you…if you help me out by lending me your body."
"So you can hurt people and Pokemon? No way!" the raven haired Trainer shouted at Yveltal, his eyes narrowing slightly before he turned away and started walking off again before he was stopped (yet again) by the Dark and Flying Pokemon's voice.
"How many times have you come up short at the final stretch when you got to the Championship Battles and people have told you that there was no way you could possibly lose?"
"You…know about that?"
"Of course I do, my eyes and ears are everywhere! Where there are Pokemon I can see through the eyes of, I used them to watch over you…so many times you've lost, so many friends who've left you behind because you failed to get all the way to becoming Champion…they never say it aloud, but they're disappointed that even after all your boasting and training you lost when you were so close to victory; how many times has that happened to you? Too many to count? Such a shame, really…"
Ash turned away from Yveltal as he started remembering all those Championship victories he'd come so close to grasping but ultimately failing in the end because he got too overconfident or his opponents outsmarted him at the last second, his hands balling into fists and clenching tightly…Yveltal hovering closer to him and placing his hands on the raven haired Trainer's shoulders before leaning down to speak softly into his ear.
"If you allow me to borrow your body until mine is reawakened, I can make you the most powerful Pokemon Trainer this world has ever witnessed…even Champions will bow to your skill when we're through…so, what have you to say now, my little foundling?"
The thought of everyone marveling at his skill was tempting, the respect of even Champions being unable to beat him was making Ash smile…but it was more of a triumphant or even slightly wicked smile as he turned around in the Dark and Flying Pokemon's arms, the raven haired Trainer's eyes connecting with Yveltal's and glowing with anticipation of those words being true.
"Could you…really do that for me?"
"Of course, dearest Ash…do we have a deal?"
"I…I'm not sure if I'll ever get this chance again, and since you have been watching over me ever since I was a kid…I'll let you use my body as yours, but I have one condition that you must follow."
Yveltal looked down at the boy who would soon be his vessel, a genuine interest sparkling in his blue irises.
"Oh? And what would your 'condition' be?"
"My boyfriend, Clemont…you cannot hurt him or his sister; please, just do that one favor for me. If you keep that promise, I will give you full control of my body until yours is reawakened." The raven haired Trainer said as he resigned himself to his fate, Ash hoping and praying to Arceus that his boyfriend and Bonnie would be kept safe.
"I don't see that being unreasonable…very well, I shall keep my word and not touch either one of them."
Ash nodded as a smile settled on his lips before his world went dark again the moment he felt Yveltal's massive wings wrap him in an embrace.
(Human World)
Ash could feel the Dark and Flying Pokemon's power seeping into his soul, the energy filling his body to the brim and exuding from every pore of his skin…his eyes changing from hazel to blue with black slitted pupils, a tribal 'Y' etching itself onto the skin of his neck and a loud roar erupting from his throat when he threw his head back and opened his mouth…the sound echoing loudly through the cave and forest surrounding it, Pokemon running away scared when they heard the deafening roar.
The black diamond that had previously held Yveltal's soul hovered in the air before embedding itself into Ash's gloved left hand, the raven haired Trainer wondering if he should keep using his own Pokemon when Yveltal's voice in the back of his mind answered his question for him.
"I highly doubt they'd approve of your decision, so I'll give you the Pokemon who have kept watch over you with my eyes…except that Eevee, it passed away a few years ago; it's soul is resting in peace, so you can breathe a sigh of relief. Look down at your belt, you'll find 6 Pokeballs attached to it."
The raven haired Trainer reached down and his hand came into contact with the all too familiar feeling of Pokeballs nestled onto his body, a smile settling onto his face when he felt 6 Pokeballs…but they were all different; on his hips sat a Dive Ball, Luxury Ball, Ultra Ball, Moon Ball, Heavy Ball, and Level Ball. Ash stepped out of the cave before he released all the Pokemon and was shocked at who was standing before him: Aegishield, Mismagius, Delphox, Lucario, Dragalge, and Houndoom.
"Wow, so these are the ones who watched me with your eyes?"
"Yes…Houndoom in particular seems to have grown fond of you, so he'll be a little affectionate."
Before the raven haired Trainer could ask what Yveltal meant, he was tackled by Houndoom and licked all over his face while the Fire and Dark Pokemon whined and panted affectionately…Ash patting him on the head between his horns gently and earning a nuzzle to his cheek.
As the raven haired Trainer recalled his new team, he let Houndoom walk alongside him as they walked through the forest surrounding the cave…none of them even remotely aware that Hope and Diana had watched the whole thing as they went off to find Ash's friends and tell them what happened.

T.B.C.- Phew, that was one hell of a long chapter but I hope you like it! In the next one, Clemont and Bonnie get a visit from Diancie and Hoopa…they tell them everything that happened with Ash in the cave, so now they need to save him! As always, the flames of progress are only stoked by positive reviews, so please leave only those at the door when you come in.
