Hopefully with this the show may go on, and we can take steps towards the finale of this story. I hope to write on the field missions soon and to start work on other things, do not fret my friends, for it is never the end, only new beginnings. Depending on where the series ends this season depends on where I will take this story. Now I hope to see some submissions for that contest, remember guess the Nen category of the twenty characters listed in the previous chapter. Adios!

RWBY: The Darkness Within

Season 2- Chapter 14

The Final Waltz

Honesty is the Rhythm of Love

"Well this is a drag." Caradin said to Deverou at the punch bowl.

"Yup."

"To the lonely hearts!" Caradin said as he drank his punch watching Knives skirt around the dance floor with Ryzia as Ruby looked at him and the two locked eyes as Knives frowned and his eyes saddened.

"Well it seems he's not having the best of nights either." Deverou added as he sipped his punch and looked on as Weiss adjusted a flower.

"Dude, just talk to her." He replied, "Neptune turned her down, so now's your chance to rekindle that friendship!"

"Yeah, Yeah!" He said more confidently, as he handed off his punch, "Hold this for me!"

He approached her swiftly as he adjusted his tie, "May I have this dance?" He said bowing as she turned around to look at him.

"I appreciate the gesture, but I don't really feel like dancing." She said as she eyed Neptune talking with Blake and Sun.

"You're upset, I'm sorry to hear that." He said as he regained his composure.

"Deverou, do you feel like things are becoming much harder? Like everything is just moving way too fast?" She pleaded.

He chuckled, "Where is the Weiss Schnee who would organize everything we did every day at the Manor?"

"She's still here, she's just," She paused looking as Neptune left the dance for the balcony, "dealing with some things at the moment."

His expression hardened as he let out a sigh, "I know the feeling all too well, Weiss," He stopped and gathered his thoughts, "I have watched you since we were young and protected you, I love you, but I also realize it's an unrequited love because we are friends and nothing more. I see how you feel about him, and it hurts me to see you hurting. So I say just wait till he comes to you, because believe me he will, and when it comes give him a shot. I'm sure whether or not you like what you fine you'll feel better."

"Thanks Deverou," She said with a smile as she went off to sit down, "You always know what to say."

He watched her walk away and his expression shifted, "Not always." He turned and walked towards the door and out of the dance towards his room, it was time to put away love and idealistic fancy, he was a butler and nothing more, their closeness had died the moment she entered the Emerald Forest.

A Promise is a Promise, no Matter the Price

Luxus spun Newt around as they laughed and enjoyed the dance to Pyron's disdain. "Women." He said turning to look at David who was sitting and talking to a girl Pyron had never seen before, "Dammit."

"Chin up mate." Carlos said as he offered him punch and some cake pops, "It's not like everyone is enjoying themselves." He turned away to see a sight he wasn't expecting, "Well that's new." He pointed as Pyron watched Jaune walk across the dance floor in a dress.

"You've got to be kidding me." Pyron said as everyone erupted in laughter, as Knives approached them.

"Okay, that was so shocking I was able to break away from Ryzia. Have either of you seen Ruby?" He demanded, seeming incredibly sober at the moment.

"I saw her near the door, how are you sober?" Pyron exclaimed.

"Dude, blood manipulation, it's great for metabolizing poisons." He said with a smirk. "I'm gonna try and catch her for a dance, I promised myself I'd get the courage to do it and after seeing Jaune, I think my problem needs a fraction of that courage."

"Well then run boy!" Carlos screamed as Knives tried to fight his way through the sea of people to the door, where he saw Ruby turn and leave. He tried calling out and shoving his way through, but by the time he reached the door, she was gone.

"Trying to get away from me?" Ryzia asked with a smirk, "Wanna go walk in the garden now?"

"Yeah, I might as well." He said solemnly as he walked off with her towards the garden.

Now we shall Dance, the Deadly Dance of Death

"Well you look pretty, I didn't know they let in people who weren't students." A man called behind Sinon.

"I volunteered as a chaperone, and I'm just as surprised to see you here Romeo," She said as she wheeled on the man.

"No you're not." He replied with a smirk.

"You're highly predictable."

"And at the same time you've never killed or captured me, so I must be doing something right." He finished with his typical cocky grin, "But my target is preoccupied and this isn't my typical venue to deal death, I'm honestly here for the party."

"I'm sure you were, gathering intel on Knives' team?" She asked.

"Hey, how'd you," He stopped, "You didn't know, and I just gave it away."

"Yup." She said with a smile.

"Ah what the hell." He said grabbing her hand and sweeping her away.

"What are you doing! Unhand me!"

"Oh come on, not too high and mighty to dance are ya?"

She blushed feverishly and resigned to dance with this man, "You know I'm still mad about the Haven assignment."

"That!? You fucking shot me with your sniper rifle!" He cried silently.

"You killed my target!"

"Our target, you were moving too slow so I offed him and saved us the trouble and claimed the reward."

"For yourself!" She exclaimed.

"I'm sorry, did you shoot him?" He huffed. "Besides, remember Vacuo."

"That," She started, "was a mistake."

"You broke my jaw."

"You kissed me!" She cried silently.

"Because you said act like a couple."

"I meant hold hands and walk along talking."

"With how I look, no one was going to believe that." He grinned.

"Can you be a bigger ass?" She huffed.

"Can you have a bigger ass?" He said eyeing the back of her dress with a smile.

She blushed and punched him as she walked off in a huff, "Hate to see her leave, love to watch her go." He added with a smirk as she retired to the punchbowl to drink angrily.

The Final Requiem in the Field of Roses

Knives followed Ryzia into the garden as they looked up at the moon that beautiful night, "You know, you don't have to try so hard for their friendship." She stated as he looked into her eyes, "These people are all the same, trying so hard to look out for themselves and protect their own interests."

"I wouldn't say that's all true, I mean look at what Jaune did." He said with a snicker.

"But what about Ruby, and Luxus, and Deverou, and Caradin. Caradin's putting on a show for his parents, Luxus is doing everything for the sake of personal gain, Deverou only cares about Weiss, and Ruby doesn't even know you exist." She cried as Knives fixed her with a cold stare.

"I never pegged you for the jealous type." He said harshly, "What is this about?"

"Aren't you tired of trying to do good only for it to blow up in your face?" She asked as he looked at the ground.

"If you're asking me would I rather go back to how things used to be, then my answer is no. I'm doing something here at Beacon, not just taking away from others indiscriminately and doing whatever pleased me at the time." He finished, "I didn't know you thought that way."

"I suffered until you came, and I found a cause worth fighting for, all I'm asking is that you leave this place behind and take up with us!" She said as she offered her hand to him.

"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that and then I'm going back to my dorm. If you follow me, bring this up to anyone else, or try to interfere with anyone I hold dear as a means of getting to me." He fixed her with his crimson eyes that shone with the hue of freshly spilled blood, "I won't hesitate to put you in the ground myself." He left that night more determined than ever to make a difference.

Further and further down the rabbit hole we go, where it stops, only I know!
