Sun and Moon (a 'Pokemon X/Y' fic)
Disc.: I will never ever own a great series like this one, so for now I'll to settle on writing fics like this one.
A/N: So, for everyone who has been waiting for the next chapter, I'm sorry it's taken so long to write it up. I was having a hard time deciding on what should happen next, and after much plotting, I finally came up with an idea…it came to me last night as I was winding down for the night, and it was also my birthday yesterday! I'm another year older, and so I decided to base the next events in this chapter on that specific joy. On that note, let's get into the chapter!
Ch.17- Birthday Healing
The next morning, for Luca, was probably the hardest event for him to have to get through. After everything that'd happened yesterday, and over the last few months, the brunette Hoenn Champion had become depressed and somewhat reclusive. Wallace had tried to cheer his fiancé up, but he knew that his lover was still hurting deep inside his heart because of his Swampert's death. It seemed that he still wasn't finished with the personal grieving process; and even though he now had a whole sanctuary's worth of Pokemon to care for, the brunette Hoenn Champion was still extremely sad and depressed.
He wouldn't tell Luca to stop grieving and move on, because that would make things much worse for his still fragile state of being…the teal haired Gym Leader walking into the room and giving his lover a hug as he rubbed his back soothingly.
"Luca…I got an update from Anna. She says that Ash has defeated Valerie and Olympia, and he's now going after his final Badge."
Luca just nodded into his lover's embrace before sighing sadly, tears entering his peripheral vision. The two lovers just stayed quiet for the next 10 or so minutes before Luca headed outside to stare out at the fields of grass that his Pokemon inhabited. All of them were awake and either playing, eating, or interacting with each other in some way.
Lucario had shown up to keep an eye on the younger Pokemon that had either been born recently or were still growing. Charizard was keeping watch over the other Pokemon and breaking up any disputes or fights that had erupted between older Pokemon. Mewtwo, on his part, was keeping a close eye on Luca with Gallade at his side; the Psychic/Fighting Pokemon had told him last night how the brunette Hoenn Champion had saved him from his own cursed fate by offering him a place at his side.
As the brunette Hoenn Champion kept staring blankly out at the sky and grassy fields, many of the Pokemon couldn't help but feel sad for him. Wallace was in the house talking to his lover's parents, Norman and Jessica telling the teal haired Gym Leader that Luca's birthday was fast approaching and how he'd miss it if he didn't snap out of his depressed state. They also went into great detail about all of their son's favorite things that had happened on the birthdays before they moved into the Hoenn Region, and all of this gave Wallace a perfect idea on how to bring a genuine smile back onto his lover's face again.
It would take a few days at most, but the teal haired Gym Leader was confident that this would make Luca happy again. After the line went dead, Wallace headed out to sit next to his lover and grabbed his hand. He'd let his own Pokemon out to stretch their legs a while ago, Deoxys flying around with Rayquaza and the other Flying Pokemon in the enclosure.
"Luca?"
The brunette Hoenn Champion looked at his lover sadly before responding.
"Yes, Wallace?"
"I have some things I need to take care of in Laverre City, and I'll be gone for about 3 or 4 days. Do you mind staying here without me for that long? I promise I'll be back soon, and I'll call you every night to let you know that I'm alright."
The brunette Hoenn Champion just nodded before letting tears track silently down his face, Wallace wiping them away with his thumb before placing a kiss beneath each slate grey eye. The teal haired Gym Leader walked out into the grassy field and asked Deoxys to teleport him to Laverre City, the Psychic Pokemon grabbing hold of Wallace in his dial colored arms and holding him flush against his body before both of them disappeared in a flash of pink light.
Luca just sighed again before resuming his staring session with the blue expanse overhead.
(4 days later)
Luca was sitting against a tree with his Pokemon all playing nearby, Auron, Lorien, and Miki having gone to Laverre City to help Wallace with…whatever it was he'd been doing over the last 4 days. Mewtwo was sitting near the brunette Hoenn Champion, the Psychic Pokemon sensing Luca's deep running depression. He knew that the boy was still heartbroken over a friend's death, and probably would be for quite a while; that being said, he could also feel the energy signatures of Wallace and the Pokemon that'd gone with him coming back this way.
The teal haired Gym Leader was heading towards them, Luca looking up as his lover's shadow fell on him.
"Luca…I have a pair of tickets to Valerie's latest fashion show in Laverre City, and I think it would do you some good to get away from Pokemon for a little while. I know that you'll be worried about them, but you must also know that they can take care of themselves while we're gone. So, will you get up and go with me?"
The brunette Hoenn Champion really wanted nothing more than to just stay in his depressed state, but knew that that was no way to live as he nodded before extending a hand upwards…Wallace taking the hand gently in his own and leading his lover out of the sanctuary.
(2 hours later)
The two lovers had arrived at Laverre City's Pixie Inn, the teal haired Gym Leader having blindfolded him by tying a white cloth around Luca's eyes. When he'd asked why he wanted to blindfold him, Wallace had told him it was a surprise and that he didn't want him peeking; the two lovers walked into the lobby of the Inn and when the doors closed, the brunette Hoenn Champion stood stock still as he let his other senses fill him in on what was around him.
The room was large and dark, easily big enough for about 50 or so people and their Pokemon; from what he could make out in the darkness, Luca saw that there was a Pokemon Center-like desk with a Pokemon Center healing machine behind it. The walls were a pale beige-cream color with dark oak support pillars embedded in them, the floor also dark oak with plush jade carpeting that covered the whole floor.
There were tables lined up against the walls, and though the brunette Hoenn Champion couldn't see what was on them, the smell of many different kinds of food hit his nostrils…his mouth watering slightly as he smelled fruits, steamed vegetables, and deserts. Though he still couldn't see, Luca could tell that him and his lover weren't the only ones in the room as he heard the sounds of feet shuffling quietly across the carpeted floor.
The teal haired Gym Leader was standing behind his lover with a smile on his face, Luca getting a bit antsy as he still wasn't able to open his eyes due to the blindfold covering them.
"Wallace, can I take off the blindfold and open my eyes now?"
The teal haired Gym Leader walked up to his younger lover and gently placed his hands on his shoulders, the smile never leaving his face.
"Yes, you can."
Luca finally removed the cloth from around his eyes and opened them just as the lights came on, people popping confetti poppers and letting the streams of brightly colored paper and confetti flutter around in the air. The brunette Hoenn Champion was surprised when the loud bangs resounded throughout the room, people and Pokemon standing in the room with smiles and grins on their faces as they looked at him happily.
"Surprise! Happy Birthday, Luca!" said the room full of people as the Pokemon, which Luca could now identify as his own team, chirped and cried loudly in joy with smiles on their own faces.
Luca was struck speechless, the brunette Hoenn Champion looked around and saw that streamers hung from the ceiling and walls in bright pinks, blues, greens, reds, and oranges. As he took in everything around him, including the tables lined with food and gifts, music started playing.
It sounded like the music one would hear in a Pokemon Center, except it was more like a giant music box had been wound up and allowed to play its' beautiful tune, bells chiming in time with the music; as he felt a smile inch onto his face, Luca saw that among the guests were his parents…Norman and Jessica smiling happily at their son. Ash, Anna, Bonnie, Clemont, and all the Gym Leaders of Hoenn and Kalos were present…even Serena had shown up. As he saw everyone smiling at him, the counter at the back opened to reveal Lorien and Auron coming out towards him with a large round tray in their hands…a double decker chocolate cake with vanilla frosting and fresh Pecha, Oran, and Sitrus berries cut into triangular slices lining the top rims and edges of each cake. Miki then stepped out a minute later and softly blew small embers from her slightly opened mouth, the candles becoming alight with tiny flames that flickered brightly atop the wax covered wicks. On the very top of the cake was a pair of Oran berries that'd been cut into a flower shape and in the middle of them was a piece of solid white chocolate with milk chocolate writing elegantly painted into the message 'Happy Birthday, Luca!'.
Lorien and Auron, followed by Miki, brought the cake to Luca with smiles on their own faces as they chirped happily at their Master.
Wallace could see that his lover was dumbstruck as to how all of this had been put together in just 4 days, so he walked around and stood in front of Luca without blocking the cake.
"I called all of our friends up and they helped me put all of this together, their Pokemon helped too. Your parents also asked to help me with this, and as you can see we pitched in to throw you a surprise party. So, what do you think?"
The brunette Hoenn Champion just stood there unable to speak, tears falling down his face.
This time, however, they were tears of joy as a huge smile finally formed on Luca's face.

T.B.C.- So, I was inspired by the following events actually happening in my file of Alpha Sapphire yesterday evening. As soon as I had my character walk into the Pokemon Center in Oldale Town, the lights dimmed and I couldn't move. But when a bunch of little Pichu faces fell down the screen and the lights came on, I could finally move again and I saw that a cake had appeared on the Pokemon Center screen at the very back of the desk and a beautiful music box and bell version of the Pokemon Center theme started playing…I was almost tearing up at the whole thing, and even Nurse Joy wished me a happy birthday and wonderful rest of my year. It was such a wonderful event, so I figured I'd use that as inspiration for this chapter. So, please let me know how I did with this one and I hope the rest of you have a very happy birthday, too.
From the very bottom of my heart, I sincerely wish every single one of you wonderful reviewers a very Happy Birthday!
