Sun and Moon (a 'Pokemon X/Y' fic)

Disc.: I will never ever own a great series like this one, so for now I'll to settle on writing fics like this one.

A/N: Wow…finally made it to Ch.18. I never thought the story would go this far, but it has and I'm happy about it. The chapters will have Luca becoming happier, but not too quickly; he still has some things to settle concerning the death of his Swampert and his deep resentment towards Yveltal for killing him. As for how I plan to have them resolve the issue, I'll think of something as the words flow…for now, here's the chapter!

Ch.18- Smile Returned

As Luca stood there with tears running down his face, the smile on his lips never left. Wallace walked over with a plastic knife and placed it in his lover's hand, the two locking eyes for a moment before the teal haired Gym Leader smiled warmly at the brunette Hoenn Champion.

"It's customary for the birthday boy to cut the first piece of his own cake, and also eat it."

Luca nodded and sliced into the topmost piece, the cake coming apart softly in a square shape. The brunette Hoenn Champion had managed to cut the chocolate square off as well before placing it on a plate his mom handed him, Miki and Auron carrying the cake towards a table so that it wouldn't get dropped onto the floor.

Mewtwo used his Psychic energy to move some of the food trays over enough to make space for the cake, a smile settling onto the Psychic Pokemon's face when he felt his new Master's energy turn from dark and depressed to bright and happy.

As the party kept going, Luca was smiling happily for the first time in months…Wallace pulling him towards the middle of the room to dance when slow music began playing, the two lovers basking in the warmth of each other's bodies. The teal haired Gym Leader leaned down and whispered into his lover's ear softly, the brunette Hoenn Champion blushing slightly at the warmth on his ear.

"Happy Birthday, my love…are you feeling better?"

"I…yes, I feel great…thanks to all of you. I was so depressed and sad over the loss of a very dear friend, but now I feel a little better today. Thank you so much, Wallace, for putting this together and inviting all our friends and family for my special day."

The teal haired Gym Leader smiled as he then placed a kiss on the shell of Luca's ear, the action making him shudder slightly at the softness of Wallace's lips on his skin. The two lovers continued dancing until some more lively music began playing and they sat down to rest.

After another few hours, everyone went home or to a hotel until their flight home tomorrow afternoon. Wallace and Luca climbed into the car behind the brunette Hoenn Champion's parents, the couple driving back to the Sanctuary as Mewtwo and Miki flew overhead towards the enclosure with Lorien and Auron being carried by their hands being clasped together.

When the sun finally set, Luca went into his room to lie down after the day's happy events while his teal haired lover took a shower. Norman and Jessica went off to their shared bedroom until their flight back to Hoenn tomorrow morning. After coming back into the room they shared wearing a pale aqua bathrobe, Wallace saw that his brunette lover was asleep just as the sun had disappeared below the mountain line…all the Pokemon in the enclosure also asleep by this point.

The teal haired Gym Leader watched his lover's steady breathing, tear stains still on his face from all the time he'd spent crying over the last few months. Wallace gently ran his hand through his lover's hair and grinned as a small smile graced Luca's lips. After another few minutes of carding his fingers through the brunette Hoenn Champion's soft strands, the teal haired Gym Leader removed his hand from the boy's hair. His hand then went to the Pokeball that held Yveltal inside it, a memory flashing through Wallace's mind as he stared at the ball in his hand.

(Flashback: Wallace, age 7, Sootopolis City)

The teal haired boy was sitting under the huge tree on the island in the middle of the clear water, his Feebas smiling up at him as he stroked her top fin. His grandfather joined him a few minutes later, the older teal haired man sitting next to his grandson with a smile on his aged face.

"Wallace…can I speak to you about a rather serious matter?"

The teal haired boy looked up at his green eyed grandfather, Wallace's teal orbs shimmering with excitement as a huge smile formed on his face.

"What is it, grandpa?"

"You know that you'll be the Sootopolis Gym Leader when you grow up, don't you?"

"Of course, grandpa…just like dad is. I can't wait to show off the greatness of Water Pokemon when I grow up!"

"(laughs) Your upbeat attitude is rather contagious, Wallace. That aside, has your father told you about what dreams are?"

"Um…he says that they're ways of telling us things when we're not awake."

"Hmm…well, he's partly right. They also say that when we sleep with a Pokeball near us, sometimes the Pokemon inside can enter our dreams through their own and communicate with us."

"Do you really believe that, grandpa Reginald?"

"I do…some say that it can forge an even stronger connection between us and our most precious partner. Someday, a very close friend of yours will need your help…and that could be the only way to help them in their most dire time of need."

"You…really think I'll have someone like that someday, grandpa?"

"(chuckles) Without a doubt, Wallace…without a doubt."

The teal haired older man and Wallace decided to just enjoy the rest of the day leaning against the tree, the many flowers glittering brightly in the warm summer sunlight.

(Flashback ends)

Wallace sighed before placing the Pokeball on the bed next to Luca's hand, the brunette Hoenn Champion reaching out in his sleep and placing the hand on top of the ball…the teal haired Gym Leader smiled once again before leaning down and placing a kiss on his lover's cheek. Wallace then drew back the covers and slipped into the bed on the right side of his brunette lover, the teal haired Gym Leader sighing before closing his teal irises and falling asleep.

(Dreamscape)

Yedidyah was currently sitting on top of a pillar and looking out over his own dreamscape, the fields before him green with many trees and large lakes. He sighed as his blue irises took in the beauty surrounding him, tears threatening to fall from them. The Dark/Flying Pokemon also observed the many graves dotted across the hills as he couldn't help but feel depressed by all the lives he'd taken in his anger fueled haste.

He would've kept staring out at the landscape but he heard crying coming from beyond the forest, Yveltal spreading his wings and taking off towards the source. After a few minutes, he landed and saw someone sitting on the ground…the figure being small and visibly shaking like a leaf in the wind. The figure was wearing an ocean blue hood over their head, red and white markings adorning the hood as it connected to a robe. The robe was spread out across the ground and retained that same blue as the hood; the one wearing it had pale olive-tan skin and was wearing dark blue and brown sandals.

Yveltal attempted to get closer by walking, but the figure stood up and turned to face him with their head tilted downwards…their eyes being obscured by the hood and tears running down their face. The figure was still shaking and crying, but the shaking eventually stopped and the Dark/Flying Pokemon felt a pang of guilt run through his heart.

Before he could even speak, the figure tilted their head upward to reveal slate grey eyes full of sadness and hatred…Yedidyah recognizing the figure as the Trainer whose Swampert he'd killed.

"You…are Luca…right?"

Luca said nothing, instead tilting his gaze downwards again as Yedidyah spoke to him again.

"I am sorry about what I did to your Pokemon…I was angry; my rage consumed me, and I couldn't keep it under control. I thought that the only way to regain my power was through the sacrifices of other Pokemon, and you paid an especially heavy price for my actions. Can you…will you…find it in your heart to forgive me, Luca?"

The brunette boy looked back up at Yveltal, his eyes softening as he kept crying. After more tears were shed, Luca spoke to Yveltal again.

"Don't bother apologizing to me, because I won't forgive you right now…in fact, I'm not sure if I ever will. Because I'm not the one you killed in a fit of rage…if you really want to be forgiven, then you should apologize to Prilivnyy…my Swampert. He's the one you should apologize to, not me!"

The Dark/Flying Pokemon nodded at the brunette boy, his legs carrying him over towards the tree that Luca had been sitting under moments ago. Beneath the tree was a gravestone, pale grey with a message carved into it that read 'Prilivnyy: A true friend until the end'.

Yedidyah bowed his head and let his own tears fall onto the ground where the Water/Ground Pokemon lay in eternal slumber.

"Prilivnyy…I am sorry for taking your life away from you, and for taking you away from your Master. I can probably never apologize enough to you for what I did, but please accept it if you're willing."

The brunette boy watched as Yedidyah kept his head bowed and apologized to the buried Pokemon beneath his feet, the tears receding somewhat as the two just stayed there in silence for a few moments longer. When the silence became too much to bear, Yveltal turned back around to face Luca…the Dark/Flying Pokemon making sure not to hit him with his tail.

The two stared each other down for a minute before Yedidyah spoke to the brunette boy.

"I have done as you asked, Luca…I hope that, in time, you'll forgive me for my horrid actions."

"We shall see…but don't bet on that happening anytime soon. In any case, the sun is rising and you must leave now. Get out of my dreamscape and go back to your own."

The Dark/Flying Pokemon nodded silently before spreading his wings and flying away from the grassy hill and tree. Luca then sat down before shifting over onto his side and laid his head down onto the ground where his beloved Pokemon lay sleeping…a sad smile resting on his lips.

(Outside Dreamscape)

The sun had come up slowly over the horizon, many of the Pokemon still asleep…among them, Auron and Lorien. The two of them were sleeping in a rather…intimate position, Lucario leaning against the tree and Gallade in his lap. Lorien had his head resting on Auron's chest with Lucario's arms holding him tightly against his body. Miki was laying on a warm rock and was letting small embers flare out of her parted lips as she exhaled sleepily, Mewtwo sitting in a meditative stance but was indeed asleep.

(With Luca and Wallace)

The two lovers were finally waking up when the clock in the living room chimed 9:00 a.m., both of them taking their time to get ready. When it was around 9:30, Luca walked outside into the Sanctuary and stared at all the Pokemon having fun and playing. Knowing that he wanted to see Ash battle in the Championship Battle against the Kalos Champion, the brunette Hoenn Champion cleared his throat and all the Pokemon stared at him…their anticipation growing as they waited for what their Master would say or do.

After a minute of silence, the brunette Hoenn Champion spoke to his Pokemon.

"Alright, everyone…since I'm now your caretaker, I'm gonna do my best to make sure all of you are tended to. But, I'll be going to watch a very important Championship Battle so I'll be taking the following Pokemon with me: Mewtwo, Gallade, Lucario, Charizard, Rayquaza, and Umbreon."

Luca watched as his Umbreon, Yuèliàng, walked forward and curled around his ankles while chirping happily. The Dark Pokemon followed her Master as he walked out into the field with Pokeballs on his belt, his teal haired lover also keeping stride with them. When they reached the part of the Sanctuary beyond the forest, Miki and Mewtwo were already awake and sparring with each other while Auron and Lorien were exchanging blows.

When they heard the brunette Hoenn Champion approach, they stopped sparring and stood in front of him…Luca smiling at each of them before speaking to them.

"Good morning, my friends. I've decided to take all 4 of you with me on the rest of this trip through Kalos. And, one other thing…" Luca said before stopping, his heart wrenching with pain over knowing what he had to say next. The words were definitely gonna be painful to utter aloud, but he had to be strong and say them or he'd never be able to go into the future with confidence.

"I've decided…to stop crying over Prilivnyy's death. I will always miss him, and I'll always mourn over his death, because just moving on and forgetting about him isn't gonna do either of us any good. I'll keep moving ahead with my life, for him…but I'll also only grieve when the time calls for it. So, now that that's out of the way…it's time to get going."

Miki, Lorien, Auron, and Mewtwo nodded at him before Luca called three of them into their Pokeballs. The brunette Hoenn Champion didn't call Mewtwo into his ball yet, because the Psychic Pokemon had decided to speak to him.

"If you're looking for Rayquaza, I can go and tell him it's time to get going. Wait here, I'll be back momentarily."

The brunette Hoenn Champion watched as Mewtwo levitated and then flew off, the Psychic Pokemon heading off in the direction of the mountains. After 10 minutes, Rayquaza was following behind Mewtwo as they landed near Luca. The brunette Hoenn Champion smiled at them both before recalling them back into their Pokeballs. Wallace then came up to his brunette lover and hugged him from behind, the teal haired Gym Leader placing his chin on top of his lover's head.

"Luca…that took a lot of strength to say that you would stop crying over your Swampert's death. I know that you'll never stop mourning, but at least you're willing to try and be strong for him…he'd be happy to hear that, if he were still with us."

Luca sighed before speaking to his lover, the brunette Hoenn Champion grasping Wallace's arms in his hands as he smiled.

Even though the tears had finally stopped falling, Luca would always mourn for the death of his beloved Swampert…but for the first time in months, he finally had a reason to move forward.

And that reason was the Pokemon that shared this world with him.
