Hello everyone! You guys can call me OmegaXV, and I'm a big fan of Kingdom Hearts. I've been writing this story on and off for a quite some time, and while I'd like to think that I've gotten better since I started writing this, constructive criticism is always appreciated!

Please note that this story will have an OC in it, so if you don't like OCs, just read something else.

If you're like me and do enjoy OCs, please give this story a read. It has a pretty slow start, but I've enjoyed writing this so far.

I hope that you'll enjoy reading it just as much.

Typical FFN Disclaimer: I do not own Kingdom Hearts. In fact, the only thing I do own is my OC, Lucas.

Day ?: A Deep Dive

(Play Dive into the Heart -Destati-)

(Lucas's Point of View)

I opened my eyes, expecting to see the ceiling of my room. What I saw instead was... darkness. This was the first thing my mind registered. The second thing was that I was falling, head first, into the void. It felt like I was falling through water, but I could breathe just fine.

After a while of this, I landed on a pillar. It had a stained-glass painting on top. It somewhat resembled the Station of Awakening from Kingdom Hearts, strangely enough. It showed me leaning against nothing. My eyes were only half open, and my hands were slack and by my side.

The circles that normally showed friends were empty, although there was a faint outline in one of them. The overall painting was painted with shades of white, while the "friend circles" had a gray background. In the place usually devoted to the home world or background of the one in the Dive, there was what seemed to be a part of the moon. Glancing around, I noticed that the Roman numerals for the numbers 1 through 12 surrounded the painting, but only in places where they would be on a clock.

Finally, I looked back towards the main subject of the painting, me. I was depicted as wearing a black vest over a white t-shirt, which was short-sleeved. I was also wearing black cargo shorts and dark blue shoes, adorned with white detailing. I also seemed to be wearing something around my neck, but I wasn't sure what. My brown hair was swept up in order to be off my face. To finish the painting's portrayal of me, I had my black glasses on, framing my brown eyes, and navy blue fingerless gloves with a white Fleur-de-lis on each.

'What?' I thought, utterly confused. 'Is this... a Dive to the Heart?'

As soon as I finished that thought, a soft feminine voice spoke from everywhere and from nowhere at the same time.

"Lucas... you have arrived just in time, as your destiny is approaching quickly. You shouldn't be afraid, however, as your power sleeps dormant deep within you. If you will it to return, it will give you strength once again."

Three pedestals appeared on the pillar, each with something different resting a few inches above them. One held a sword, one held a shield, and the last held a rod of some sorts. I looked around in a panic, trying to figure out where the voice was coming from.

"H-how do you know my name? Where am I? What's going on? What do you mean 'once again'?"

"Answers will come in due time."

I sighed as I walked toward the sword, and held it in my hand. The length and weight were just right; like a natural extension of my arm. It felt like it was made for me. The voice made itself known again.

"The Sword: A power of valor and might. What will you use it for?"

I thought about it, and a horrible possibility came to mind.

"If I choose the sword, will I start to hurt my friends?" I asked, staring at the blade.

"That can only be answered by yourself."

I put the sword back, suddenly unsure. Then, I walked toward the shield and examined it. It covered enough of my body so that it wouldn't leave too much exposed to injury, but was light enough so that I wouldn't have trouble holding it for extended periods of time. She spoke again.

"The Shield: A power of kindness and protection. Who will you defend?"

I thought about this too. "What if I need to fight? What good will a shield be then?" I asked.

"That is an interesting dilemma. What do you think would happen?"

I put the shield back, doubting it. I then walked over to the rod, and picked it up. As soon as I did, a strange energy flared up in me for an instant, but it was gone almost immediately. The voice spoke again.

"The Staff. A power of magic and skill. What wonders will you perform with it?"

"Magic?" I asked. "That doesn't exist."

"'Magic doesn't exist?' Is that the truth, or only what you tell yourself?"

I put the rod back, confused and annoyed. That's when an idea popped into my mind.

"Um... Voice?" I asked, crossing my fingers.

"Voice? Do you mean... Oh. Um, yes?"

"I can't decide on what power to choose, so... can I have all three?" The Voice paused for a second. Then she responded.

"I'm afraid that is not possible. Sorry."

With a frown on my face, I paced back and forward for a bit. Eventually I settled on the Sword, leaving the other two options to disappear. The stained-glass pillar beneath me began to crack, and then it shattered! I fell into the darkness and onto another identical pillar. After I got my bearings again, The Voice returned.

"Your dormant powers are returning. When the time comes, you will need to fight. The Worlds will depend on you."

At her words, the sword appeared in my right hand, and a scabbard for the sword appeared on my back. It was held to my torso by a belt-like strap.

However, something felt off, like something was there that wasn't supposed to be. That's when I heard The Voice again.

"Watch out!"

I turned around to find a Shadow Heartless. I quickly defeated it with a few swipes of my sword. I turned back around to find three more of them staring me down, ready to strike.

A Shadow swiped at me, which I had to dodge. I then cleaved it in two with my sword, only to get hit from behind! I turned around only to see that the Shadow that hit me had melded into the floor.

Shadows continued to form around me until I was surrounded. I was worried, but I took a deep breath to calm myself. Here we go. I cleaved another Shadow in two, and the ones beside it melded into the floor. I ran through the gap, and turned to face the remaining Shadows. There were at least five of them, and two rushed at me. I slashed at them, destroying them. I ran in and bisected the last three Heartless, before sighing in relief.

Stairs appeared in front of me, leading to another pillar in the distance. I got up, and walked to the next pillar. A door that seemingly led to nowhere rose out of it.

The Voice returned.

"Go through that door. Your destiny awaits you there."

I walked up to and opened the door. Beyond it was a tower in a sunset-bathed setting.

'The Twilight Town clock tower! Then that must mean...'

Just as I thought, facsimiles of Axel, Roxas, and Xion were sitting there, as if they were waiting for me. The Voice rang out yet again.

"If you don't mind, could you please tell me a bit about yourself? I'm curious."

I walked up to Xion, as she was closest. She looked at me and asked, "What are you afraid of?" I thought for a while, and then answered.

"Getting old." I muttered, embarrassed. "I… I'm not ready to be an adult."

"Why is that so scary?" She asked before vanishing. I then walked up to Roxas.

"What do you want out of life?" He asked.

A few seconds later, I had an answer. "I guess I wanna broaden my horizons. There are a lot of things that I wanna know."

"Are you sure about that?" He asked before vanishing. Finally, I walked up to Axel.

"What's most important to you?" He asked me.

I frowned as I thought it over. "I dunno..." I muttered. "Friendship, maybe? Everyone needs a shoulder to cry on once in a while."

Axel responded with "Friendship, huh..." before he vanished. As soon as he did, the voice returned.

"All right then... Thank you for answering my questions. Your adventure will begin soon. It will be perilous, and you will feel pain and fear. Don't worry, however, because the day that your destiny will reveal itself is much closer than you think."

The clock tower faded, and I appeared on another platform, still confused.

"Your light shines bright, but you must be careful. A bright light always means deep shadows."

The Voice said, as I felt my shadow detach itself from me.

"Don't be afraid, Lucas."

She continued as I turned around to face my foe.

"So please don't forget-"

She was cut off. My foe emerged from the platform, and it looked like me. It was pitch black with yellow eyes, as if it was a Shadow Heartless. The copy then summoned the Rod, and got into a fighting stance.

It then rushed me, and I had to dodge. I retaliated with a few slashes from my blade, but then it whacked me with the rod. I quickly ran back, not wanting a repeat of that. It then pointed the rod at me, and a fireball came out! I dodged the fireball, ran up close, and stabbed it. Afterward, it fired another spell at me, this time an ice one. I couldn't dodge it in time, so I took it full force in the chest. I was disoriented for a moment, but I managed to slice it twice. The wounds I inflicted formed an X, which shined with a bright light before getting healed. The figure then replaced the Rod with the Shield, and brought up its guard.

I studied the Shielded enemy for a second before rushing in. Obviously, it blocked my attacks, and then tried to bash me on the head. I dodged, and the copy tried to bash my head in with the shield again. I blocked it with my sword and forced the shield out of its hands. The figure then clutched its head. I took this opportunity to attack. I stabbed the figure, and slashed upward. The figure shined brightly and disappeared...

I took a few deep breaths before sheathing the sword.

"It's over..." I said. Nothing happened, so I waited for The Voice to return. However, darkness started to engulf the platform, dragging me down with it!

"H-HELP!" I cried. The darkness was all encompassing, consuming my vision and everything else. I awaited its cold, inky black embrace...

"Don't be afraid, Lucas. You will illuminate the way for many others. So please don't forget..."

As the darkness pulled me in, The Voice became clearer, and a hand reached down to grab mine. I grasped it, and it pulled me out of the darkness! The last thing I saw was a woman with blond hair, the one who saved me. Was she...?

"Na-Naminé…?" Then, my vision faded out.

"... that you are the Champion of Light."

Boss Bios

Boss Bios will appear after every chapter with a "Boss Battle" in it. For those who have played a recent Kirby game, it is the same general idea: some flavor text with either lore or a tip on how to beat the Boss.
