Thank you! Someone who actually answers an author's call for help! Thanks a bunch Avengers101! Sorry I didn't get around to this sooner though, band camp and then school kinda got in the way.

Now on with the story (that I own nothing of, which is sad but true…)

Chapter 9-Types

I woke up in a better mood than I went to bed in. I tried to forget about the junk with Barry and the annoyance of Paul so that I could focus on the here and now.

I departed my room wearing a red tank top and a denim skirt along with a matching black beanie with a red pokeball symbol. I still dawn my black spandex but I traded out my brown leather boots for a pair of black ones with slight heels.

I reached the stadium with time to spare and Espeon on my heels. I was lucky to find Sara and Claire at the front entrance and we got seats together right behind Dawn and the others.

Paul and Barry were up first and got to be the first duo to experience the changing terrain. The two got stuck with rocky terrain which made me relieved. The terrain wouldn't be used more than once today so I wouldn't have to deal with a pokemon with a ground type advantage.

I have to say that Paul and Barry duked it out hard. Yet Paul won with a three to zero score. Barry is a good trainer but he's still too new, he doesn't have the experience yet. Paul on the other hand seemed fairly well rounded; he didn't have the new comer rashness either.

Next up was Ash and the creepy Conway.

I sat through a third battle before Tallon was up. I watched closely, trying to see if he'd changed his style or if he made a switch up in his top team. Nothing stood out to me as I watched his landslide victory.

I got up and told the group goodbye as I went down for mine. There was one more duo before mine so I needed to be ready in the wings for my third match-up.

"Next up we have Tyler versus Carina!"

I walked out onto the field to find our terrain was still the grassy field. That was good and bad, good that it wouldn't do any harm to my pokemon but bad that none of them would have a terrain advantage.

"The first move has been decided by coin toss so let's see the first pokemon!"

I looked across the field as the black haired boy revealed his pokemon, an Empoleon.

Crap!

My pokeball was already mid-air, releasing my Arcanine. My thoughts were already screaming danger and type disadvantage but I shook those thoughts away. Arcanine is strong; I know she can stand against the water starter.

"Tyler gets the first move!" declared the ref.

"Alright, Empoleon use Brine!" commanded Tyler.

I watched as the move raced towards Arcanine. As it came down to the last few seconds I called out her move. "Arcanine, protect!"

The green-ish, blue-ish shield appeared, blocking the attack. I could see Tyler's frown from my side of the field.

"Good job Arcanine, now use Solar Beam!"

~Outside POV~

"Hey? Since when can a fire type pokemon use a grass type move?" questions Barry as Arcanine stands on the field charging with the remains of protect surrounding her.

"I've seen it once before." Says Brock "The trainer later told me that he taught it so that if his fire type ever went up against a water type he'd have a defense move."

"But solar beam needs time to charge, it's not practical against water types." Adds Ash

"But can't you see what my sister is doing?" questions Claire as she leans forward to join the conversation.

"What is she doing?" asks Dawn

"She used Solar beam before protect wore off. I happen to know that her Arcanine's protect lasts awhile, longer than most pokemon. She came up with this combo a few years ago and it hasn't failed her yet."

~Carina's POV~

I watched as protect faded and Solar Beam was still charging.

"Alright Empoleon, use aqua jet!" Empoleon started to charge at Arcanine, aqua jet has to be used within a certain proximity of the target, as Empoleon came within range I heard the tell tale click of solar beam.

"Go Arcanine!" I yelled and the flash of light fired at the water pokemon.

Empoleon took the full brunt of the hit and the type advantage did its job. I knew I wouldn't be able to pull off that combo again so I pulled out Arcanine's pokeball.

"Good job Arcanine." I said as she disappeared into the capture device. I quickly pulled out my next pokemon.

"Let's finish him off Jolteon!" My small yellow eevee evolution appeared.

"Carina has switched out Arcanine for Jolteon!"

~Outside POV~

"No way…"

"What is it Claire?" questions Sara as she looks over at her friend and rival.

"She couldn't be…"

"Couldn't be what?" questions Barry, turned around to look at his childhood friend.

"She's using her Kanto team." Claire says quietly.

"Your sisters been to Kanto?" asks Dawn.

Claire nods her head vigorously "She's been practically everywhere."

"But what do you mean by Kanto team?" Now Brock was interested

"She had a team of pokemon that she trained while she was there and they got really strong."

"What pokemon were they?" asks Barry

"Well her Arcanine and Jolteon from this battle, her Meganium from her last battle, her Lapras, Pidgeot and her Dragonair. They were unbeatable, it was almost scary."

~Carina's POV~

"Empoleon use metal claw!"

"Jolteon dodge it!" Jolteon disappeared as Empoleon slashed down in the now vacated space.

"Discharge!" I shout and the yellow pokemon appears behind Empoleon before he releases his electricity. Empoleon gets fried and faints.

"Empoleon is unable to battle!" declares the ref

"Return." The beaten Empoleon disappears into the red beam. "Go Lucario!"

Lucario is weak to fire but it may not be a good idea to use Arcanine, she's not particularly strong against physical attacks…

"Alright, Jolteon use thunder!"

Lucario couldn't get out of the way in time. He was hit but was far from down, I didn't have any advantage, which annoyed me, besides a higher level pokemon and more experience.

"Lucario use Metal claw!" Lucario charged instantly but he wasn't very fast. Jolteon was gone long before Lucario came close.

"Jolteon Shadow ball!"

~Outside POV~

"Okay, your sister has a lot of weird combos." Comments Sara

"That's why she always beats Tallon." Smirks Claire

Sara glares at the brunette.

"Did she go there?" asks Barry (acting slightly sassy XD)

"She went there." Dawn says, mimicking Barry's tone.

~Carina's POV~

"Counter with Aura sphere!" I watch as the blue ball comes into contact with Jolteon's purple ball of energy. The energy's collide with a bang. Neither affected their target.

Well that didn't work. Time for plan C.

"Jolteon Discharge!" The mass of electricity fries Lucario but the pokemon is still standing, barely.

"Hang in there!" That was the first time I heard an ounce of concern from this trainer. That made this battle ten times better. "Use Force palm!"

Lucario charged. "Sorry." I whisper, "Thunder!" Lucario collapses as the last bolt of electricity hits him.

Lucario is called back and Tyler pulls out his last pokeball. "Go Luxio!"

Well time for Arcanine again 'cause I can't use Lapras or Jolteon.

"Return Jolteon." I put his pokeball away with a 'thank you' and pull out my first. "Arcanine, lets finish this!"

"Carina switches Jolteon back out for Arcanine!"

The ref signals us to continue, Tyler to start.

"Luxio thunder fang!" The blue and yellow pokemon charged, fangs barred at my Arcanine.

"Fire Blast!" Before Luxio can sink his fangs into Arcanine he's sent flying by the power behind Arcanine's fire power.

With one hit the small electric pokemon was down for the count.

"Carina wins!"
