YES YOU HEARD ME A LONG ONE! XDDDD So now am I in your good books again? Anyway I know most of you were questioning as to why I drugged Lark in the previous chapter. Well the answer is simple...If you had been paying attention then you would have realised that I did mention that she JUST managed to survive the spider poison so it would take time for her body to recover from the stress that she was put under. Anyway I hope that that has cleared up any queeries you had! XD Now I'll get back to business with these updates XD. PLEASE READ AND REVIEW ETC.

On with the chapter...
A Flight for Freedom
Arandur walked towards Thranduil's council chambers. He had had enough. The elven king had been drugging Lark all week; expecting answers to come from her whilst she slept. So far they had no success but the green-eyed elf had had it. Anymore of this and Lark's body would shut down and Aüle knows what Kili would do to him if that happened. He stopped outside the large wooden door and knocked it lightly.
"Enter."
Thranduil turned his head to see his friend enter. He gave Arandur a light smile but it fell from his face when he saw the grim expression his friend was wearing.
"My friend what holds your face in such depression? Surely you should be smiling. The dwarves are still in our hold, Oakenshield is about to break and we have finally had that delivery of the Dorwinion wine for tonights celebrations!"
"Sire you must let the girl go!"
The king turned to look at the guard. His expression was startled, as Arandur knew it would be. This however did not make him shift in the slightest.
"I beg your pardon Arandur. That is not possible. She is a prisoner here and I will not release her until I have answers."
"Why? You already know of Oakenshield's plan! You choose to poison her, to drug her. Her body is about to give up due to lack of food and proper water. What will you do then?!"
"Temper Arandur do not forget to whom you speak!"
The dark-haired elf growled and straightened his shoulders. He noticed how Thranduil bristled, this was not going to be an easy fight.
"My King, she is dear to me and I wish for her not to be harmed..."
"How?"
"Lar..the girl saved my life a long time ago and I hold a debt to her. If you continue this way I shall never be able to fufill it."
Thranduil pursed his lips and stayed silent. If he let the girl wake then she would clamp shut and not tell them anything. He did know about the dwarf king's mission but, he wanted to know more about this mysterious girl. She was more fair than any elf he'd ever seen and she held this aura about her, like a cloak. The crystal-eyed king wanted to know if she'd be suitable for his son once he came of age. He sighed and sat on a large wooden chair. Arandur sat opposite him and leant his arms on his knees.
"Please Thranduil...I can't lose her...I've already lost my family."
The elf king lifted his head.
"You have Tauriel."
"My grandaughter has never warmed to me. The girl has touched me the way my daughter did and I would never forgive myself if any more harm came to her."
Thranduil nodded in understanding. He would hate himself eternally if he let anything happen to Legolas. The lad was barely of age and was currently in Rivendell doing his studies. He knew that any father would never remove the guilt if anything happened to their child. The fair-headed elf placed a hand on his friend's knee. Arandur lifted his head.
"I will stop using the drug. She will wake by the late evening. Her mind may be a little clouded but she should make a full recovery."
Arandur placed a hand over his heart and bowed his head low.
"Thank you Sire! You do not realise how much this means to me!"
Thranduil returned the gesture.
"It is nothing...now I must ask..will you be smiling for tonights celebrations?"
The Captain of the Guard nodded. Arandur stood and bid his king farewell. Thranduil nodded and watched his friend leave. He would question the girl as soon as she was ready. The dwarves weren't going anywhere anytime soon...and neither was she. The blonde-elf stood and went to his chambers to prepare for the evening.
…...
Kili paced back and forth in his cell. To say he was panicking would've been an understatement. For a week he hadn't seen or heard a word of Lark. She hadn't been in his dreams...The elf hadn't been to see him and worry had been gnawing at the back of his mind. In a sudden burst of frustration he punched the wall. Pain shot through his gloved hand and he began a stream of insults in Khuzd-Dhul. He stopped when he heard a chuckle.
"My dear..brother I didn't know you knew such foul language!"
"Fili?!"
"The one and only!"
Fili's blonde head came into view by his cell door and soon all the other's of the company started popping up. Bilbo all of a sudden appeared by his door, clutching th keys. The hobbit unlocked the brunette's door and in a shot Kili launched himself at his brother. The two brother's held each other for a few minutes before pulling away. Kili turned to Bilbo.
"How...?!"
"The King is having a celebration upstairs! This is the perfect opportunity to get out of here...the guards have tested some new wine and are completely out for the night."
Kili hugged the hobbit. He then counted the company...they were two members down. He shot a questioning look at his brother.
"Where's Thorin and Lark?"
"Ah our dwarf took it upon himself to retrieve the girl from the healing rooms."
Kili's mouth dropped open. Thorin had gone to get her...wait...why was she still in the healing rooms? Was she in a critical condition? What happened if Thorin got caught? Would he come back?
"Kee now's not the time..c'mon Bilbo's got an idea of how to get outta here!"
Kili followed, with his brother, the company down a set of stairs. At the bottom lay thirteen large barrels. Their ears pricked at the sound of water...then Bilbo's plan clicked. Dwalin looked positively mortified.
"Are you bloody insane lad?!"
"Well would you rather I put you back in your cells?"
At that the burly dwarf closed his jaw and set it in a tight line. Kili smirked. Someone behind them coughed and they all turned to see Thorin descending the stairs clutching a very pale-looking Lark. Kili's heart sank...her face was a ghostly white, her blonde hair was matted against her head by sweat, her lips were almost blue and were chapped, she was still in a white hospital gown. She looked terrible. He made a step to her but, Fili held him back. Thorin looked to his youngest nephew.
"Kili take the largest barrel and I'll pass her in. Everyone else choose a barrel and get in it. No exceptions!"
Everyone made for different areas and Kili sprang to the large barrel and climbed in...he settled himself and waited for his uncle to pass her to him. Thorin passed the delicate girl to him and gave Kili a quick nod. He cradled her in his arms and rested her head against his chest. She fitted so snugly against him and Kili felt himself warm rapidly. Lark was here...she was with him. He looked up to his uncle as Thorin lifted the lid to seal them in.
"Thank you Uncle.."
"Kili we must look after the one's we love, even if they aren't our race. Don't let yourself lose what is precious to you again."
With that Thorin placed the lid over him. Kili pondered over his uncle's words. He looked down at Lark. He heard his uncle whisper to Bilbo before all was silent...the company waited. Then the elves came and rolled the barrels into the River Running. Kili tightened his hold on Lark and prayed to Mahal to protect them.
