I am going on a break for a few weeks after this installment. This story is going where I need it to get to, and I am just not having enough time to write the chapters. I'm sorry. I can't tell you when I'll be back but hopefully it'll be smooth after then.

Story so far...

Mercedes turns up, bringing Lady Gaga with her. Kurt freaks out, and Bocelli does too, singing Speechless and making Gaga and the rest of them just so.

-*T&C*-

Kurt sat, sipping his coffee and staring out the window. He was still wearing his pyjamas and hadn't yet tamed his bedhead, but he had just wanted to take a few minutes out. After this weekend, it was likely that everything would change. Yes, they had been expecting this for months. But now it was coming so soon. It was happening. Robert would die and the boys would be left in mourning. Blaine, too. And Kurt loved Robert, he really did. But he'd have to remain strong. For the boys. For Blaine.

And then this weekend. It was great that Mercedes was here. He took a sip of his cooling coffee. He had missed her terribly when they hadn't been talking. Some may argue he shouldn't've let her back in so quickly. But he had missed her too much and just wanted his best friend back. And now she was staying in his apartment. And had brought Lady Gaga with her. She had been touring with Gaga and, really, no wonder the fame went to her head. But then she came back. And Kurt was so thankful.

And then there was Blaine. Kurt put down his mug, the contents now cold. Blaine, who made his heart beat faster and put a smile on his face even when everything felt dark. Blaine, who realised how uncomfortable he was in Robert's hospital room and, even though Blaine obviously wanted to stay, left with him and took him home. Blaine, who loved him enough to want to marry him. It made Kurt's head spin, but in the best possible way. He knew it'd happen one day. Just... not quite yet.

The noise of someone else stepping into the kitchen startled him, and Kurt span his head around. He saw a woman with a bare face and hair done up in a simple pony tail, loose strands escaping haphazardly. She wore a pale pink robe which tied around the waist. It seemed fairly simple for someone famed for her obscurity.

"Hi," she said. "Sorry if I startled you."

Kurt shook his head. "No, it's... I was just thinking, that's all. Um, can I make you a coffee?"

"Have you got any tea?"

Kurt thought about it then nodded. "Yeah, I think we have." He stood and went to the cupboard. He rooted around. "Earl grey?"

"Perfect."

Gaga took a seat at the breakfast table and watched as Kurt turned the kettle on and found a mug for the teabag. It was purple with multicoloured sheep on it; a bizarre buy which Blaine had seen and fallen in love with, and Kurt had to admit that it had its charms. The kettle boiled and Kurt filled up the mug with boiling water. He went to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of milk. He would have asked Gaga which type she preferred, but they only had semi-skimmed, so semi she was getting. He pulled out the teabag and then stirred in the milk.

"Sugar?"

"No, thank you."

Kurt took the spoon out and handed her the tea. She took a sip. "Mm. That is wonderful. Thank you."

Kurt smiled and sat down. It was too early in the morning to be freaking out over the fact that Lady Gaga was in his kitchen.

"Sleep well?"

Kurt blinked. "Yeah, I did. You?"

"The best night I've had in a long time," Gaga admitted. "Seriously, what material are your sheets?"

"Silk," Kurt replied. Oh, he had taste.

"Wow. Well, they're wonderful. I can find it really hard to get to sleep a lot of the time. And I always seem to be on the road. I catch brief hours on planes or trains or tour buses. But nothing of any use. Thank you so much for agreeing to me staying here this weekend."

Kurt shook his head. "No, you're more than welcome." A thought passed his mind and he frowned. "Who knows you're here?"

"The people who need to," Gaga replied quickly. "I've been very careful. Nobody will try to break in to the apartment, I promise."

Kurt shook his head. "I didn't mean that. I meant... Blaine is the director for the glee club at Dalton Academy, which is a nearby school. One of the kids, Robert, he has cancer. We're not really expecting him to see next weekend."

Gaga sighed. "I know what you're going to ask." Kurt looked on hopefully. "I am really sorry. It would be great to go in. I... I don't know if he'd appreciate it but... no, I can't. It wouldn't just be him, would it? It'd be the rest of them as well. Um, I'm sure that Merce would love to, though. A... video call, maybe? For... Robert?"

"Robert," Kurt confirmed. He considered it. "I probably should have talked to Blaine first."

"Blaine heard." Blaine walked into the kitchen and kissed Kurt's cheek, sneakily taking a sip of his coffee and grimacing when he tasted how cold it now was. "I think it'd be great. And Mercedes, too. The boys will need something to keep their spirits up."

"Great. Now, um, I'm going to go and get dressed. Thanks for the tea, Kurt." She lifted it almost in a salute and disappeared from the room.

Blaine sat down on the now empty chair and reached across the table for Kurt's hands. "You were up early."

"I woke early," Kurt shrugged. "Didn't want to wake you by being restless."

"Are you okay?"

Kurt blinked. "Of course." He saw the worry still evident in his boyfriend's eyes. "I promise."

Blaine nodded, seemingly happy with Kurt's promise. "I love you." He leant over the table and pressed a kiss to Kurt's lips softly.

When he pulled away, Kurt replied. "I love you too."

I will be back soon. I promise.
