"Caroline, breathe!" Klaus exclaimed, grabbing her arm and shaking her "God, Caroline, just breath!"
She blinked; her face pale and sweaty and blue eyes widen. He took a deep breath so she could imitate him. Slowly, her respiration went back to normal.
"I'm fine…" she inspired "I'm fine"
"Are you?" he asked, doubtful, raising an eyebrow. She shook her head in agreement. "So I can go back to driving or do you want me to turn around? You know we can just not go, right?"
"No" she might be pale as a corpse, but her voice was steel "I can't run away from him"
"Of course you can. I ran from my father for a thousand years, you can avoid yours for nine months"
"No" her voice assumed an annoyed tone "It has to be now. Go back to driving"
"Right…" there was still doubt in his voice. He pulled the car from the inexistent dust shoulder back to the road "You can pick the song, if you want" offered, still worried with her almost panic attack.
"I'm fine. You don't even have Katy Perry or Lady Gaga"
"And you talk like I'm supposed to know who they are" he joked. Opened the windows, letting the warm breeze enter the car "You don't have to be afraid of you father, Caroline"
"I'm not afraid of him" her voice got childish, almost offended "I'm just nervous"
"You also don't need to nervous. His reaction cannot be worst than your mother's" Klaus provoked. She blushed and rolled her eyes, nudging his shoulder gently. Rested her head in the seat.
"Have you thought about the wedding?" asked. Klaus frowned. Between getting used to be human and getting used to be a father to-be he had forgotten about it.
"No" admitted "But you must have already planned it all, I guess"
"Not really" she smiled "I forgot about it… But I found our rings. They are in my purse"
"You think we should advance the wedding?" the question fell from his mouth before he could stop it. She blushed furiously and looked away. He didn't expect her to answer.
"No… it's fine like this. At the end of the year…" the blonde frowned, feeling something uneasy in her words "Unless you…"
"No" he cut her off "its fine this way"
The car was filled up with an uncomfortable silence… Caroline watching the view change and Niklaus driving, replaying their small dialogue over and over again in his head and trying to understand why he had lost control over his words.
The four at evening sun was dying when she sat up straight on the seat "We're almost there" whispered to herself, without looking the GPS. She had done that small travel so many times… Caroline would recognize anywhere her father's house: Rain grey, with green flowers going up the walls and an also light grey roof; White door and square windows; Plain.
She sighed and stepped out of the car as soon as they parked. Klaus tilted an eyebrow, the suggestion on the corner of his mouth – we could go back…
"Let's go" whispered, pulling him by the hand toward the door. She rang the doorbell. Niklaus intertwined his fingers with hers, squeezing her hand gently – I'm here.
Bill was a tall man, with blonde grayish hairs and small blue eyes. He had laughter wrinkles around his eyes and they deepened when he smiled, seeing his only daughter before him.
"Care, love…" whispered, hugging her strongly, and kissing the top of her hairs "I've missed you so much…" he let her go, wrapping an arm around her shoulder; offered Klaus a hand. "Niklaus Mikaelson, I suppose. Nice too meet you"
His voice was gentle, even a little amused. However, Klaus found himself forcing a smile a holding his to-be father in law with uneasiness. He exchanged a look with Caroline.
Bill didn't know him? They were engaged, to be parents, and Bill didn't know him?!
"My pleasure"
The man pulled them inside the house, leaving the baggage on the car, and wrapped his free arm around Klaus' shoulders. They were both squeezed in hold "Steve and I thought the guest room would be perfect"
"It's great" Klaus guaranteed, when a white door was pushed, revealing a big illuminated room. Basic. A wooden wardrobe, a reasonable couple bed and baby yellow curtains. The perfect guest room: Without any personality.
Caroline grimaced to herself, trying to ignore the disappointment that burnt her stomach. What did she expect? A pink room, made exclusively for her, with her old toys and the familiar sensation of home? She was twenty four, not six.
"It's perfect, dad" she mumbled, letting her purse drop on the bed and smiling.
"I'm glad, Care. Steve is so animated that you are here. He hasn't shut up since we talked on the phone, you and me" Bill opened the curtains, letting the dying light in "Lara is happy too"
"Lara… Oh, I bet she is" Klaus frowned when he heard her voice: Mechanic and calm.
"Yes, she's all happy about it. They went out to buy us dinner, thought you two would be here later"
"They didn't need to buy anything, I can cook…"
"Or we could go out for dinner" Niklaus suggested, interrupting her before she made an unnecessary arrangement.
"I told him that, but Steve insisted" Bill shrugged. There was an uncomfortable silence "… I'll get your baggage on the car"
"No, let me" Klaus took a step forward, but Caroline grabbed him by the hand.
"He's offering himself, Nik… Daddy is crazy for some fresh air, I think" she cut him off, her voice frozen. Klaus stared at her without understanding.
"Yes. I'll go" Bill shook his head and left the room. Klaus waited until he couldn't hear his steps anymore and turned to Caroline, letting his educated smile drop.
"So, Caroline?" asked in a whisper "What's between you and your father?"
"Nothing"
"And who are Steve and Lara?"
"Steve is his husband and Lara's his daughter"
"You never talked about them"
"I forgot!" she raised her hands "I forgot ok? Lara was quiet and if I saw her three times my whole life, that's too much. And I barely saw Steve too. I only remember that he was nice and father of the kid"
"Kid? It's a child?"
"She was ten last time I saw her… here I'm not sure" Caroline rolled her eyes, hearing the steps on the hallway and putting back that ridiculous smile
"I brought the bags!" Bill warned, entering without knocking "And they are here, go say hello" it was an order and Klaus cringed.
Steve looked too much like a Ken doll. He was too handsome for fifty years old, with his tanned skin and dark blonde hairs. Bright green eyes. Lara, the girl that was supposed to be a child, had nothing of a child. With caramel hairs and a big smile, she looked like around eighteen years old.
Forbes stood by his side, watching her feet. She opened a shy smile, unconsciously moving closer to him "Hi, Steve… Hi, Lara…"
Steve rolled his eyes and pulled her in for a hug "It's been five years that I don't see you and you say this?" he complained, holding her tightly "I'm happy to see you, Care" he let her go and turned for Klaus "And it's nice to meet you, Niklaus" he completed, offering his hand. Steve's hold was strong, but gentle.
"My pleasure"
Lara only hugged Caroline, without saying nothing else but a small "Hi, Caroline" and then shook Klaus' hand. An uncomfortable silence settled.
"Who's hungry?"
Forbes let out a sigh of relief and immediately exclaimed "I am!"
Bill smiled "Well, we can eat… frozen lasagna here…" he went through the bags "Or we could go out for dinner" he grimaced; letting clear there was only one option to be chosen.
"We should go out for dinner. It's the first time Caroline comes here in… Years! And we just met Klaus, let's go out to celebrate" Lara suggested.
"Yes, restaurant it is" Bill agreed.
"Unless Caroline and Nik want something else, isn't it, Bill?" Steve half complained, throwing a meaningful glare to his husband.
Klaus hurried himself to deny it "No, no… it's fine"
"He said it's fine, then it is" Bill concluded, rolling his eyes.
Steve huffed, but shook his head and let the subject drop.
"So, Caroline, your father told us you work with events?" Lara asked, smiling in sympathy.
"Weddings, actually"
"Ah, that must be fun…" Niklaus rolled his eyes to her forced niceness. "I…"
"Lara is going to Law school in Yale, Care" Interrupted Bill, proud. The forced smile of Caroline got bigger.
"Yale…? Uow!"
The girl blushed "Yeah… Well, you went to Lawrence, which is also amazing…"
"Yes… but you only got in because of cheerleading, isn't it Care?" joked Bill, squeezing his daughter' shoulder "I remember that you loved going for the games. Did you know Lara will be her classes' spoke person?"
"Well, Caroline organized the prom, isn't it, Love?" Klaus answered, cringing. His fiancée agreed, embarrassed.
"Too bad it doesn't add you any points, right baby girl? If it did, I'm sure you could have gone to Yale"
"I never wanted Yale, dad" mumbled Caroline.
"Truth… What did you want to do? To be…"
Caroline got red and Steve tried to interrupt "It doesn't matter. I bet you wanted to be something else too…"
"No. I wanted to be an architect and that's exactly what I am" He rolled his eyes "If I'm not mistaken, Care wanted to be a singer…"
"Ballerina" corrected Caroline, undoing her father's hold and walking closer to Klaus "That's why I cursed seven years of ballet, dad"
"Well, you weren't very good, baby girl" he laughed "Adorably chubby"
Caroline grimaced "I bet I was"
"Shouldn't we get ready to go out and dinner?" Lara cut them off, anxious to stop that exchange of eulogies. Steve agreed "Yes, we should!"
The couple was kicked out to the guest room, with instruction to get ready. As soon as the bedroom's door closed, Klaus held her by the arm.
"What the hell is wrong with him, Caroline?" questioned, frowning.
"Nothing… He's fine"
"Oh, please! You and your dad… He's a douche! How can you grieved for someone like him?!"
"I…" Caroline sat on the bed, crossing her legs "I had forgotten how he was… You know, in the between of vampires, hunters and dead people in general… I forgot the father he really was."
"And what father was he?"
"The kind that leaves a five years old girl and never comes back" She closed her eyes and shook her head "I don't want to talk about it…"
"Caroline" He held her "You know you'll have to put him in his place one hour or another, right? You…" his words were interrupted by steps on the hallways. He let her go. "I should shower"
"Yes, go…" she didn't raise her eyes, pretended that he wasn't there. Klaus grabbed a few clothes on his suitcase and went to the bathroom.
The hot water was burning his muscles, trying to relax him of the stress accumulated all day. He couldn't picture being there the entire weekend. Klaus rested his forehead on the glass and took a deep breath, letting the water wash away his shampoo.
"…That, Caroline?" he heard a voice say.
"Six years…" It was Bill's voice and Klaus promptly turned off the shower, wrapping a towel around him and trying to overhear the conversation.
"Six years, dad, and you still haven't missed me! I bet it would take you ten more to realize…" Caroline's voice answered.
Niklaus stopped drying himself and glued his ear to the door, blatantly eavesdropping.
"Don't be ridiculous…" the words got confuse "…And now you're getting married and I don't even know him! How do you think… feel?" Bill accused. Niklaus grinded his teeth.
Caroline didn't need to hear accusations from an absent father. She didn't need to feel guilty by her human self's decision or by Bill's irresponsibility.
H e dressed himself quickly and opened the door. Caroline was pale, her inferior lip trembling and the bright eyes full of tears. Her father, on the other hand, had that arrogant smile of his, face and neck red.
"Caroline, go take a shower" Klaus ordered, pointing the open bathroom "Now" he was growling, feeling something wild and raw awaken within his chest.
As soon as her pale figure disappeared and the door was closed, Klaus turned to the man before him "I'm not using subterfuges with you, Bill"
"You should watch your tone, boy"
"And you should try to be decent, but life is not how we want, is it?" Klaus rolled his eyes "Caroline doesn't have to hear your accusations or your insults. So I'm going to tell you once and only once: We are here because she wanted. Because she insists on playing good daughter for an absent father. If it was up to me, she would never look at you again"
Bill's mouth opened and closed and his face turned purple of anger "Now, listen here…"
"No! You listen here!" Klaus yelled, shoving a finger on the man's face "You are not going to have another change with Caroline You better treat how she deserves from now on, because if I have to watch you try to put her down again, try to be the funny pathetic father again… We're leaving. And you're very mistaken if you think Caroline will stand by you. After all, she never had a father"
"Yes, she did!"
"Oh, she did? Where were you during all of her life? Because all I ever saw was Liz… Where were you…" when she died? "… When she needed your support? Your absence defines you, Bill. Caroline is gorgeous, full of light and very smart. She doesn't need people like you in her life. Now be nice or don't be anything." Klaus pointed the door "Get out"
"How dare you?! This is my house!" Bill was furious. Niklaus felt pure anger go through his veins, anger so powerful as a vampire's poison.
"Out" Klaus hissed, stepping closer. And, even if he was taller, Bill swallowed dry.
"Caroline is my daughter and you're going to regret ever stepping between us"
"The only who's to regret anything will be you. Every man would want a daughter like her. It's a shame she had a father like you"
With those words, Klaus pushed him out of the bedroom and slammed the door closed, locking it. He felt guilty fill up his mouth, it wasn't his house… Maybe he had done wrong… NO! He did not do anything wrong. Caroline and him were there together and he wouldn't let a bastard like Bill, like Mikael had been, step between them. Hurt her.
He waited until she finished her shower and redid the bags, taking a decision.
"Klaus… What are you doing?"
"We're leaving"
"What?" she wasn't offended only surprised. It broke his heart. She was so used to no one standing up for her…
"We're leaving. We're not staying here a minute longer. You… You don't have to put up with him. I know you want to face him, face your ghosts… But maybe he's not a ghost, just an imbecile man" he heard a giggle and turned around, shocked.
He thought she would defend Bill. At least get angry to have the decision taken from her hands. Klaus had heard about her attacking Damon when he had tried to hurt her father. Remembered her barking for him not to mention Bill. Maybe Vampire Caroline had really forgiven her dad.
"Klaus…" she held him by the hand, stepping around so he could close the case. He stood straight, looking her in the eye. Saw a smile appear in her flushed by bath face "Thank you"
"Here" Jeremy sat down on the couch, pushing Kol's hands away and resting his head on his lap. He pushed a bottle of water and some aspirin on Mikaelson's hand. Grabbed the Xbox console.
Kol took a deep breath to calm down with the other's proximity. Jeremy was becoming less and less prude. Day after day he stopped caring about the 'amnesia' and struggled to force their relationship back to how it was. Mikaelson didn't know how to react to that. He didn't know how to deal with Jeremy's proximity, with his inside jokes – that Kol didn't get – and, the more unsettling thing, how much Gilbert knew him.
That, plus the migraine that was behind his eyes every day since the nose bleeding last week, was driving Kol crazy.
Just like his horniness, Jeremy's concern grew. He wouldn't stop throwing Kol worried glares, like he expected Mikaelson dropped dead any moment.
"Stop looking me like that" Kol complained, without opening his eyes, knowing that Jer's eyebrows would be tilted in a frown and his chocolate eyes would have that worried and carrying shade that always pissed Kol off.
"I'm not even looking at you" Jeremy answered, without meaning it "I'm taking you to the doctor"
"No, you won't. I'm not going to a doctor" Kol huffed "I'm perfectly fine. I keep being as perfect as always."
"And as annoying too… Kol, you're worrying me. You never had a headache in your whole life and now, suddenly, you lose your memories and have daily migraines"
"You are the source of my headache, you annoying kid"
"Shut up" Jeremy slapped his leg and mumbled something to himself "If you're not going to the doctor by yourself, I'm drugging and taking you with me."
"Good luck with that" Kol yawned and let his hand, until them covering his eyes, fall to Jeremy's hair. He started to play with it without thinking "I'm drug proof"
"Sure. You keep thinking you are a 007, Kol, but really you're nothing like him"
"Shush" Mikaelson complained "I'm totally James Bond"
"Much more for a Maxwell Smart"
Kol smiled and let his fingers run Jeremy's hair. It was a calming patter and took his attention from the pain "We should binge watch secret agent movies…" mumbled. Again the familiarity rose and made his stomach roll.
"We were planning on doing that when you came back from your trip" the relief was clear in Jer's voice. Maybe Kol was remembering something…
"I don't remember that" Mikaelson decided it was easier to crush his hopes earlier. He didn't want Gilbert to get excited for nothing "But we should do it anyway… I watched some of the 007's movies and Get Smart"
"Of course you did" Jeremy agreed. It might be ordinary for him, but for Kol those were one of the few movies he got around watching when a vampire. "When you go to the doctor, you can pick whatever theme for us to binge watch"
"I'm not going" Kol frowned "Now be quiet, I'm trying to sleep"
Jeremy complained some more about Kol falling asleep sit, but quickly shut up. No longer after, Kol's breath got calm. Peaceful.
Caroline pointed a bar, smiling "What do you thing?" she suggested. Klaus frowned, pulling the car to the bar. They were coming back to Mystic Falls and the night had fallen. Maybe it was eight or nine pm.
"You know you can't drink" he warned, opening her door. She smiled and wrapped an arm around his waist.
"But I can get you drunk"
"And who's going to drive?" they entered the bar. It was dark, filled with the sweet smell of alcohol. Caroline rolled her eyes "I'll, Mikaelson. I do have a driving license, duh" she pointed two chairs close to the balcony.
He asked for a juice to the attendant that came and Caroline sniggered, nudging his shoulder and asked for a shot of tequila.
"Tequila? Are you really trying to get me drunk?"
"Of course I am. You didn't have this opportunity when you were human, I think, and after becoming a vampire it got kind of hard, right?" she smiled "And I'm a nice company in bars"
"Why doesn't it surprise me?"
"Ah, yes. Elena used to always lose for me" Caroline laughed "Bonnie didn't drink… As much as us" she sighed and the drinks came. She pushed the small cup toward him, her eyes shining.
"Drink! Drink! Drink!" Caroline joked, tapping on the balcony. Klaus laughed and drank the shot in one gulp. The liquid burnt his throat and he coughed. After a thousand years drinking, he had become a virgin of alcohol. He smiled, it was his first drinking night as a human and there was no backing down now.
Klaus made a gesture for an attendant to not let his cup get empty. The husky voice of Johnny Cash was filling the bar, another cliché in all that shadow. A pool game on the side. He turned another shot before a giggling Caroline, and tried to follow her talking. She was explaining how she had become a cheerleader. Even with Bill downplaying it, he had been the motive behind it all.
"He took me to a football game…" she told, biting her straw and mixing the pineapple juice lazily "And stayed only five minutes, before saying he had to go. My father even bought me the candy I wanted, telling me that my mother would pick me up. I was never shy, so I stayed"
Niklaus took another dose "… He never came back. My mother didn't come. He had left home for good that day and left a message on her phone, for her to pick me up. But she didn't pick hear it. The game finished and I started crying…" her eyes went to the attendant filling Klaus' cup for the fourth time "The cheerleaders came talk to me. They calmed me down and one of them took me home later. It was the nicest thing someone ever did for me. So I decided I wanted to be like them" she sighed
Niklaus shook his head, not sure with what he was agreeing. The song was too loud and "Don't you know… That you are a shooting star!" was making the alcohol stop burning. He grabbed her by the hand and pushed Caroline up, pressing her body closer to his. Twirled her, smiling when heard her laughter.
Caroline rolled her eyes "You are already drunk, Klaus. Such a sissy for drinking… I'd handle more"
"No… You wouldn't" he complained, dizzy. She laughed and pushed him sit.
"I…" Klaus grabbed his cup again "I was twenty nine… Eight years since my mother turned us… Eight years since she dies…" he hiccupped and drank "And Mikael that… asshole… was hunting us. Finn was a jerk… Always complaining and making secrets with that… That girl…" he shook the empty glass "Heey! My glass is emptyyyy!" sing sang.
Caroline laughed out loud "Ok, then what?" she ushered him to end the story. Klaus raised a finger for her to wait and took another shot.
"We had run out of Mystic Falls and were in Transylvania…" another hiccup "And those adorable blondes came to me. I panicked… They were fresh turned vampires… Kol, that lunatic, had turned them… Elijah was giving away speeches and Rebekah… I don't know, she was probably in love with someone…" he blinked and started to laugh "And I panicked because I had never kissed anyone and I was still grieving Tatia… But they grabbed me and… they were everywhere, mouth everywhere… My first kiss and I can't remember with whom it was!" he laughed, burrowing his face between the hands.
Forbes rolled her eyes and threw some notes over the balcony "C'mon, Mikaelson, you're past your limit. When we no longer kno…" the rest of her words died in his mouth. His hand went to her hair and his lips were over hers… And Caroline had no strength to pull away. Drunk or not, this was one of the best kisses she ever received.
"I'm not drunk" he lied, kissing her again and smiling when she kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"You better not remember this tomorrow" Caroline mumbled, pushing him against the balcony and getting on her tiptoes to kiss him harder.
"You're my first human kiss…" he whispered back "I want to remember this."
"That's for your own good, Rebekah" mumbled Mikael. He pushed the blonde hair away from her blue eyes. Eyes like the sky during the twilight. The girl winced under his tough, feeling disgust of his calloused fingers against her skin, his rough hands in her face.
"Father…" her voice was a whisper. She would never be able to raise her voice at him, that man that haunted all of her days… Her provider and downfall. The family's downfall with his bad temper, Nik's ruin.
"I'm so sorry, Bekah" Mikael hadn't ever apologized for someone. But she was his little girl, the family's flower. His heart was squeezed by the guilty. He say her eyes fill up with tears, the panic that was always there growing stronger. He took a deep breath and shoved the dagger on her stomach.
The tears ran down her cheek, her legs gave up. "No!" Niklaus' voice made Mikael turn around, dropping his daughter's body on the dirt.
The last thing Rebekah saw was her father kill her brother.
"Bekah! Bekah!"
She opened her eyes, tears wetting her face and hands twisting the sheets. Stefan was sitting on the bed, his hands in her shoulders. Eyes widen in fear and worry.
"Rebekah…?" the blonde blinked against the tears. It had been Just a nightmare, a nightmare…
"Ah, Stefan…" her voice was shaking. He hugged her, rubbing her back. She hid her face in his neck, holding his shirt tightly and sobbing enough for them to shake her entirely.
"Shh… You're ok, I'm here…" her boyfriend whispered, kissing the top of her head. She agreed with a headshake, letting his warmth calm her down.
"I'm fine" She pulled away slightly, cleaning the tears "It was only a nightmare"
Stefan watched her, without undoing his hold around her arms "C'mon…" he stood up, pulling her by the hand. Passed an arm around her shoulders and guided her to the kitchen.
Rebekah sat down at the kitchen table, watching as he warmed the hot chocolate, and she let a small smile appear.
Stefan pushed the warm cup in her hands and sat by her side.
"Tell me about the nightmare"
Rebekah bit her lower lip. It was a dream she had never had before, so real… She remembered her father's face perfectly, like it had happened only seconds ago. Nik's yell was ringing in her ears.
"I… I was in house… it was old, I can't remember it clearly…" she could. It was a medieval house; she could even remember the torches… the smell. "And… My fa… Mikael." She stopped calling him 'father' years ago, couldn't even remember the word in her mouth anymore. Why did it come back now? "Mikael was there… He had hands in my face and…" he did it so many times, so many times… "And he looked sad. I was afraid… he said it was for my own good and apologized and…" his fingers caressed my shoulders "… killed me"
Stefan's eyes were dark, his eyebrows tilted in a frown. Rebekah never talked about Mikael, all he knew was that the man had been an abusive man with a bad temper and she had always been terrified of him.
"Did he ever touch you, Bekah?" Nik had told him that Mikael never understood limits, that he had been forced to pull him away from Rebekah and Finn more than once.
Her eyes got wide "Stefan…"
"You don't need to answer" he kissed her hands "He's dead, Bekah. He can't hurt you anymore. Not you, not Nik… No one." Stefan smiled sadly. She agreed, resting her forehead against his.
"I Love you, Stefan Salvatore" whispered, not waiting for an answer and kissing him. He kissed her back, wrapping his fingers in her golden hair and pulling her sit in his lap.
His arms were one of the safest places Rebekah knew. She had fallen for him in London, the grey city, and he fell for her in Mystic Falls, the city of the damned ones. Well, damned or not, she had found salvation in him.
Bekah sat in his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck and drowning her fears in his mouth. Gentle lips, slow and careful under hers. He caressed her cheek with his thumb, caressing the tears' track. "I love you" he answered "I love you"
Stefan remembered his passion for Elena, he would never forget it. However, Elena loved a man that no longer existed. She fell in love for the Stefan that came to Mystic Falls: trying to run away from a past that wouldn't ever leave him, ashamed of his older brother and still too much naïve. Then the Mikaelsons had appeared and Elena got involved with Damon… The fall had been fast to the pit.
Stefan got addicted; he drank and mistreated everyone he ever loved… He tasted the sin and liked it, because it was already too familiar. The same darkness that once swallowed Damon, now called him. Rebekah asked for forgiveness for coming to town with her cursed family… And Stefan didn't know how to forgive. Elena had pulled him from the dark, with Damon and Caroline…
Bekah had undone the possessive hold Nik had over her and Niklaus, once alone, started his own redemption path. Stefan had lost his innocence, but Rebekah didn't care. He had always been her biggest love and she knew how to love him unconditionally. She tried and tried more when he rejected her… Salvatore had seen the vulnerable girl she once was, and now he saw the broken woman she became. Nik turned, for the second time, his best friend… Maybe the only friend that could fully understand the darkness within Stefan.
And fall for Rebekah had been easy like falling asleep.
She had loved the innocent, the addicted and the broken Stefan. Bekah had loved him entirely. How could he not love her too? When she was part of him already?
They pulled away, the tears shining in her eyes "Do you think I'm a bad person for feeling so grateful that he's dead? For wishing it so many times?" He held her, denying.
Stefan hated her tears; she was a lioness, fighting for the normal life she had always wished. Rebekah was terrified of the shadow of her parents' acts over her life, but she fought and fought some more.
"Angels cannot be bad, Rebekah"
"Do you think I'm angelical, Stefan? Don't you know me?"
"You are an angel" he smiled, kissing her "The most stubborn, confuse angel ever. But still angelical."
"General Hospital of Mystic Falls, how can I help?"
"Hi. I'd like to schedule an appointment with Doctor Kurt"
"Ok. Is Monday morning alright?"
"Yes."
"Under whose name should I mark it?"
"Kol… Kol Mikaelson"
Caroline opened her eyes to the clarity of her bedroom, hearing the telephone ring. She smiled to the White ceiling and looked around. That room was already hers, part of her home. She was safe there.
She smiled when realized Klaus had fallen asleep in her bed, completely dressed… wearing one of her coats? His hairs were a mess and he smelled like alcohol, snoring and drooling even. His feet were resting on the pillow and his face where the feet should be.
The blonde laughed, nudging him gently with her fingers, remembering that first morning she had woken up by his side and freaked out.
Another annoying ring.
Sighing, Caroline stood up and grabbed the cell phone, noticing that she had unattended calls. From those, not even one was from her father. She rolled her eyes and picked it up.
"Caroline…?"
Her heart stopped and the air ran away, she used the wall to keep her up.
"Caroline, are you listening to me?!"
"Tyler?"
n/a: So, how was it? Good, bad? Finally, the so wished for Klaro-kiss!
