Lovino blinked through the swimming dots that covered his vision. A noticeable throbbing was pounding in his ankle and his head felt weird and muddled. He could understand that he was sitting, leaning against something, but couldn't wrap his mind around it for the moment. Eyes not able to see, he lifted his hands to his head, letting out a grunt of pain when a harsh bruise sent sharp pain down his body. Instead then he rubbed at his eyes and realized a cloth was blocking his sight. Ripping it off and glancing at his surroundings, he hoped that the pirates had only dumped him somewhere for dead. Sadly, the more his ears came to, the shouts and moans of people were more audible. Bracing himself against the crate he had been leaning on, he stumbled to stand. The first thing that came to mind was that he was standing on a loading dock, a massive ship towering at the end. Around him men, women, and kids stood or sat with their legs tucked up to their chests. Pirates were weaving around the villagers with swords and guns, dressed in heavy belts with light chains and shirts. Some were gathered in groups and laughed together. One pirate walked past Lovino, hand tightly holding a women who was crying and yelling, "Stop, please! A child, where's my child?"

The man only barked something in another language and twisted her arm. A crack sounded and the lady whimpered, and Lovino had to look away. His feet got forced forward by his mind and he took a few steps forward carefully, and then sped up. If I could just get away from these pirates… he thought. They can't watch everyone. If he was to try and run away, he'd have a ways to go, since the dock still stretched farther then he expected. The wind blew his hair into his face and he brushed it back, when he was struck with an idea. If I jump in the water, they wouldn't want to jump in after me, and I could swim to shore. If I die, then it would be better than getting murdered or beaten. Lovino had heard many rumors about the discipline pirates gave out. He took a step forward to the edge of the wooden dock and peered at the water. It was mildly rough but the wind was strong, blowing Lovino's hair around his face. He took a deep breath and tried to assure himself it was for the best. He might not be able to see Feliciano anymore, or even Grandpa, but it was preferred than letting the pirates gain control of him. They'd make him a slave of duty for sure. Two pirates walked by him, grinning madly.

"What's going on, knave?" The blond man leaned forward. Lovino decided this was his chance. Spinning around, he leaned back towards the water. The Blond made a false step by moving closer to Lovino. As he started to fall off the dock, the other man's feet got tangled and was knocked out from under him. Both the pirate and the captured were overthrown. Lovino closed his eyes, bracing for the rush of ice water, when something closed around his wrist. He heard a splash below him, but could not feel anything himself. Inching his eyes open, he looked up to a tanned, smiling man. Lovino looked down as well, seeing that his legs were dangling over the waters that had the blond pirate struggling for breath.

That was really short
