Expecting kits
Hollypaw woke up with a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach, like an ache, it wasn't painful, just weird.
It had been about half a moon since the battle, since that night with Darkclaw, and she had been meeting up with him again. Usually spending whole nights with him, just talking and enjoying eachothers company.
Squirrelflight was getting better too. She was still in the medicine den but according to Leafpool she should be out in a few sunrises, thank Starclan. Hollypaw couldn't imagine what it would be like if she lost Squirrelflight, she just couldn't.
She glanced over to Rosepaw and Firepaw, both of them sleeping peacefully, unaware of anything going on with her, and she was happy about that, they were always going on about thw warrior code, they repeated it every morning when they woke up and every night before they went to sleep. So did she, for that matter, but only so they didn't realise anything was up.
Hollypaw silently got up and stretched her stiff limbs before padding out into the clearing, not many cats were up yet. She made her way over to the medicine den, ready to ask Leafpool about her stomach and whether she should eat anything, because she was pretty hungry, she just didn't want to start puking because that would mean she couldn't go and see Darkclaw.
Dovewing was in the medicine den so she decided to wait outside for her to finish. She listened to the conversation going on inside.
"Well," Hollypaw heard Dovewing say, "My stomach feels really weird, it aches, but it doesn't hurt exactly, it's hard to explain really." That was exactly how she felt! Maybe there was something going round camp.
What Leafpool said next shocked Hollypaw, and it wasn't good. "Well Dovewing, it sounds like you are expecting kits!"
"Really?" Dovewing squealed while Hollypaw's heart sunk into her stomach.
She didn't hear the rest of the conversation, standing outside the den in shock, until Dovewing happily rushed out, probably to find Bumblestripe to tell him the good news.
Hollypaw quickly wandered away from the medicine den and picked up a shrew, not that she ate any of it. She was too busy thinking.
She couldn't be expecting kits! She was only an apprentice! Well technically she could but, everything was just going so wrong. What would Darkclaw say, what would her clan say. They would be so angry, what if Bramblestar exiled her, no, he wouldn't, would he?
Hollypaw shook her head to rid it of unwanted thoughts before getting up and asking Birchfall if she could go hunting on her own, which he allowed her to do, at least she would be able to think properly now, she had to work out what she was going to do.
