The pie

...
On a cold, rainy night Christian Grey took a stroll alone. He ordered Taylor, the head of his security detail, to stay at the office.
However, Taylor wouldn't be Taylor if he didn't send one of his men to follow their boss.
His divorce to Gia was finalized just two months ago, to him that was such a relief. During their marriage that only lasted three and a half years, he discovered that she only married him for his money.
"Gold digger," he growled, while crossing the street. They settled out of court because Christian didn't want the negative exposure. He hated to be in the spotlight all the time. Well, at least his ex-wife was satisfied with the millions she received and the estate in Maine.
Christian preferred the house in the Hamptons, and was happy that he was able to keep that idyllic mansion. He planned on going there for a weekend soon to relax and forget all about work, his ex and life in the big city.
As he walked into a small, but cozy diner, he noticed that Sawyer was not far behind him. Of course, Christian knew that Taylor had send Sawyer for his protection, and wasn't mad at all that his employee had disregarded his orders.
"Can I please have a cup of coffee, Michelle?" he asked the waitress at the counter, and then took a seat in one of the stools.
As a sigh escaped his lips, he thought about his current life.
"How did I end up here? In this position?" were the words that tumbled from his lips. He was a thirty-five-year-old divorce, wealthy beyond imagination, but very lonely.
He and his ex have been separated for almost a year now, and in that time, he found out that she had boyfriends left and right. But Christian stayed single, and waited patiently for the divorce to be finalized.
During that time, his siblings Mia and Elliot attempted to set him up on dates, but it was never successful. How come?
Well, Christian just wasn't interested in dating women who wanted to date him because he was the 'Christian Grey'.
So, that meant that he hasn't been with a woman for about a year now.
Elliot teased him about it, and had asked him if he and his right hand had become best friends again.
Unfortunately, when they talked about that, they both were at their parents and 'lucky' for Christian, Grace happened to walk outside on the balcony, and heard what Elliot had asked him. When Christian saw her, he obviously turned beet red, and Grace couldn't help but laugh and shake her head.
"Elliot, don't tease your little brother like that," She scolded him, making Elliot laugh aloud.
"Here you go, sir... one cup of coffee for you" he heard a voice say, taking Christian out of his thoughts. The older waitress then placed the cup right in front of him.
"Thank you, Ma'am" he said, and smiled at the friendly woman.
As he drank the black coffee, Christian wondered what to do with his life now.
Financially, he had done very well for himself, owning one of the largest real estate companies in the US. However, being that wealthy didn't automatically mean that it brought happiness in one's life.
While finishing his coffee, he heard people walk into the diner.
"Mind if I sit here?" he heard a female voice say after a few minutes.
Christian turned his head a bit to face the person, and when their eyes locked, he was amazed by the look in her eyes... such kind eyes.
He wasn't used to that, you know. Usually, the women in his life gave him a sultry look or seductive one, but never so innocent and kind.
The young woman had chestnut-colored locks, and her smile was contagious.
Christian smiled at her and said." No, I don't mind at all"
She nodded, and took a seat next to him." Michelle, can I have a cup of tea, please?"
When the waitress had brought the tea for her, Christian cleared his throat and said." The pie is good here,"
The beautiful brunette smiled and nodded." Oh, I agree... but it's sold out this late, you know"
As Christian's eyes darted towards the display cabinet, he saw that she was right. It was empty.
He turned crimson red, and closed his eyes for a moment, wishing that the ground would swallow him whole.
'SERIOUSLY, GREY?! Couldn't you check first if there was pie left, before offering it to someone?' were the words that bounced inside his head right then. He wanted so badly to clobber himself!
"Ana, I'm done with the phone call... are you done drinking your tea?" he heard another woman say.
The blonde looked very distraught, making Christian believe the phone call was the cause of it.
So, her name is Ana...
"Coming, Kate" the beautiful brunette answered, and got up from the stool.
She then looked one more time at Christian and said." If you like the pie so much, you should come here early in the morning."
Christian didn't know where his courage came from, maybe from his mother or his sister who have kept telling him these last few months to move on and go on dates again… he wasn't sure.
Without a thought, he then answered." Tomorrow... I'll be here around 8 AM for the pies."
She smiled widely at that." Don't buy it all"
Christian reciprocated her smile and countered." I won't, I'll leave a piece especially for you,"
As the gorgeous brunette's lips curled upwards into a smile, he waited in anticipation of what she would do or say. However, she was interrupted by her friend.
"Ana! Jack is being a douche right now… he has been all day. We gotta go, now!" her blonde friend called out, and literally dragged the young woman from the diner, leaving a disappointed Christian behind.
He sighed aloud, and sat motionless in his seat. But then, his eyes landed on the counter and he saw a small purse lying on it.
'Oh, no… Ana left her purse behind.'
Without hesitation, he grabbed the little, silver-colored object and inspected every inch of it. He then called the waitress and said." One of your clients left this here,"
The older woman winked at him, and said." I noticed your short interaction with her, sir… would you like to return her purse to her tomorrow morning?"
Christian furrowed his brows in response." Aren't you afraid that I'll steal something from it or do something bad?"
The waitress shook her head in response." I know you, Mr. Grey… since you came into our diner a year ago,"
"Oh, do you?" he countered.
"Yes, I do… I trust that you won't do anything shady." The waitress stated." Give it back to her… tomorrow morning,"
"I will… I'll be here first thing tomorrow" Christian countered with a wide smile on his handsome face.
As a sigh escaped his lips, he couldn't help but to look forward to the next morning.
Tomorrow… that word held so much promise." Cannot wait," were the words that tumbled from his lips, while getting up from his seat and paying his bill. And of course, he left a huge tip for the older waitress, Michelle.
As he swung the door of the diner open, his eyes fluttered shut, inhaling the cool, night air.
"Tomorrow" he whispered, and then told Sawyer that he was ready to go home.
