Chapter 1

Starting line and entrance exam

Yuei High School, Superhero Department.

A school where you can acquire the indispensable qualifications needed to become a superhero. The most popular and most difficult pro-hero school in all Japan.

In a normal year, there are over 300 applicants for one place in a new class...

To become a great superhero, for many people a degree from this school is essential. For many, it starts now. The beginning to reach for their dreams. But the first thing they have to do is master the entrance exam... A big hurdle for such young people...

A blue bus transported the candidates, who were ready to take the risk, to the entrance exam location.

Many seemed to have prepared for this moment, for several months. The tension was written on their faces...

Despite this, there were a few exceptions, some who were brimming with self-confidence. So there were also such teens...

Whispering among themselves and with eager faces they waited for the starting signal.

This year's physical entrance exam, focused on fighting as many robots (or virtual villains) as possible and earning their points. A hands-on practice simulation.

Suddenly a loud voice rang out, urging:

"Come on. START!"

Restless and confused looks darted around.

The voice sounded again:

"WHAT'S THE MATTER? THERE'S NO COUNTDOWN IN REAL LIFE EITHER!"

Then, everyone rushed off into the entrance examination area. From the outside, one could not yet directly separate the wheat from the chaff...

This would happen only in a few moments...

The teachers and the jury watched the spectacle together in a remote tower, via video surveillance.

A few candidates were interesting to watch. One could see a lot of things.

The students' strength, adaptability, and their ability to stay calm under pressure were all important factors in determining their fit for the UA school.

"This year looks pretty promising, doesn't it, director Nezu?" asked a voice after some time.

"We can't tell yet... Their worth and true spirit... It will only become apparent now."

A big red button was pressed... A few moments passed, and a giant robot suddenly appeared on the practice field... There were no points for this opponent. But it was big and dangerous...

It was an overwhelming threat...

"When confronted with such danger, the true character of people reveals itself... "

Two minutes remained in the exam, and a voice on the PA system declared the time.

When Suddenly!

A boy with green hair and freckles faced the giant robot and saved a girl with it! He falls to the ground, his legs look very broken.

"THE TEST IS FINISHED"

A loud siren announced the end of the entrance exam.

Now it would become clear, who would be allowed to come to the UA school...

But only a week later it was announced, who had passed and who had not...

The apartment was silent, with only a few lamps illuminating the hallway.

A girl stood near the front door, her emerald green eyes fixed on the mail slot, her expression a stoic blankness.

Her long blonde hair fell past her shoulders and her blue ominous goggles covered her eyes. She looked like a statue, her body unmoving, her presence almost ghostly in the dimly lit hallway.

When it suddenly opened and a heavy letter fell onto the hallway floor.

She reached for the envelope without even flinching, her fingers tearing it open with little effort.

Out came a small hologram gadget.

Without hesitation, she played the recording that was stored on it.

A loud and confident voice echoed off the walls of the hallway from the gadget's speakers, the voice of the number one hero All-Might:

"Congratulations on passing the entrance exams June Trill. With this recording, I confirm that you were able to earn a place in Class 1-A with your skills. Good luck in your further career as a Pro-Hero student. In 2 days you will have your first day! Try your hardest and good luck! PLUS ULTRA!"

And with that, the pompous welcome, was over and silence reigned in the room once again.

June stood in the empty hallway, her emerald green eyes fixed on the letter in her hand.

She listened to the hologram's final words and waited patiently for it to end.

When All Might's voice finally went silent, June lowered the letter and met the empty silence with another blank stare.

At first, there seemed to be nothing different about her expression.

But if you looked closely, you could see a small joyful glimmer in her eyes. The kind of glimmer that comes with the realization of a dream coming true.

Yet June did not smile, did not laugh, did not even frown. She was simply there, standing motionlessly in the empty hallway.

What a strange girl indeed.

2 days later

June got up early, eager to start her first day of school at U-A.

The first thing she did was put on her blue goggles, a habit she had developed over the years.

Despite having worn them for as long as she could remember, she still couldn't explain why she felt they were necessary, but deep down, she felt like it was important to wear them at all times.

The goggles had become an extension of herself, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something she was hiding, even from herself.

As she navigated her way through the chaotic streets of Tokyo, her mind wandered back to her earlier years.

June's childhood was shrouded in mystery, with no memory of anything before her 11th birthday.

With no one to care for her, the government had taken June in, assigning her to a top-notch Pro-Hero couple who were experts in raising children with special needs. They were able to identify her back then through her fingerprints and discovered her old name: June Trill.

But even with all the love and attention she received from her new parents, June's damaged past continued to haunt her. She struggled with her emotions, feeling a deep disconnect from the world around her. She had never truly felt happy, sad, or angry before, having to learn these emotions from scratch like a child. And now, as she neared her 16th birthday, June knew that she had to start a new chapter in her life, a chapter that would help her reconnect with her lost memories.

Throughout her last 4 years, June struggled with her emotions, feeling detached from them.

She often appeared stoic and emotionless, but inside, she desperately wanted to feel.

She needed to rebuild her emotional intelligence, to learn how to laugh, cry, and love again.

This was why she was so excited to start at U-A. She hoped the experience of attending a hero school would bring her closer to her true self. As she approached the sprawling campus, June felt a flicker of joy deep down, a feeling she had long since forgotten. It was as if a piece of her missing puzzle had finally been found.

As she walked through the large gates, a strong wind blew and her long blonde hair fluttered around her shoulders. She made her way inside and looked for her class 1-A...

Classroom 1-A ,where was it...

This school was really huge...

She scanned the hallway, searching for the right classroom.

There it was, alongside 1-B, the door to her new class, 1-A.

June looked at the door with her blank stare, it was already open and a green haired boy was standing in the doorway.

He was standing in the way.

She approached him and her muffled, emotionless voice rang softly from June's throat:

"I have to go to the classroom."

The boy got startled:

"Oh OH... Sorry. Of course!"

She walked past him and noticed many curious eyes scanning her as she searched for her designated seat.

She took an empty seat in the front row and looked to the door where the green haired boy still stood.

He seemed to be talking to a rather stern looking student with glasses.

"You figured out the test quickly! I don't like to admit it, but you were clearly superior to me" said the boy, his voice tinged with a note of respect." .

The green-haired boy appeared slightly embarrassed:

"Oh what? I had... no idea" He laughed nervously...

After a while, a brown haired girl joined him and he seemed to blush.

June had watched them for a while, when suddenly a deep and stern voice came from the hallway:

"If you want to play best friends, then do it somewhere else."

Suddenly, the room fell silent. No one spoke, and all eyes were fixed on the door.

June saw nothing that indicated that anyone was standing in the hallway.

Strange.

The dark male voice spoke again:

"We're in the superhero department."

The man stood up and intimidated the three new students who were talking.

The man, was in a yellow sleeping bag.

He quickly stepped out of it.

He had black, long wispy hair and looked unkempt.

A three-day beard on his face and he looked at the three students with a tired and weary and irritated expression:

"It took eight seconds for you to fall silent. Time is finite, you clearly lack rationality".

He paused and looked around.

"I am Shota Aizawa. Your class teacher..Nice to meet you."

The whole class fell silent.

"What ? class teacher?" Said someone from the back row.

Aizawa didn't hesitate for a second and spoke again:

"It's starting right away too... Put this on and come to the sports field."

With that, he held out a sports suit to them.

The class left for the sports field as quickly as possible, and June hurried after them after she had changed her clothes.

Once there, they were to line up one behind the other and listen.

"WHAT' A QUIRK APPREHENSION TEST?" the class murmured in unison.

The girl with brown hair, who had introduced herself as Ochaco, was surprised:

"What about the welcome ceremony and the introduction!?"

Aizawa answered her directly,

"If you want to be superheroes, you don't have time for such events. UA boasts its tradition of freedom."

He turned to the class.

"And their teachers, accordingly, are just as free..."

He paused for a moment.

"Since middle school, you've all taken them, right? Those tests. Where quirks are forbidden to use." Aizawa turned to a blond boy.

"You got first place in the entrance physical exam, Katsuki. How far did you throw the softball in middle school?"

Katsuki answered his question a little annoyed, "Over 67 meters..."

Aizawa wasted no time, "Now try this with your quirk"

Katsuki set off to stand in a white circle drawn on the ground.

June watched him closely.

Katsuki took the ball from his new teacher and got ready to throw it.

" Alright then, let's get started."

Katsuki lingered for a while and threw the ball with full force with his explosive quirk.

"DIE!"

June tilted her head. Why did he say such a thing?

A plain black-haired boy spoke up suddenly:"OH! We get to use our quirks how cool is that? This could be fun. The UA is absolutely awesome!"

That seemed to have struck a nerve with the black-haired, grumpy teacher.

"Fun huh? "Are you really going to spend the three years training to be a superhero with that attitude?"

Suddenly he had a creepy grin on his face.

"The student who places last in the overall ranking of the 8 disciplines will be classified as useless and expelled from the school."

The class was taken aback! Everyone was stunned, except for June.

She didn't seem to react at all to this statement.

The first discipline had begun and all the students lined up one after the other.

First discipline: 50 meter run.

June looked at her new class teacher who was slowly walking towards her:

"You are June Trill, right? I hope you are wearing the special sports suit the school gave you. I don't want a student with torn clothes".

June looked at him through her blue goggles and nodded.

"Alright, off to the starting line!" said Aizawa.

June approached the starting line.

So she got to use her quirk.

Without even a second's hesitation, she activated her Quirk and the transformation began...

Her body began to grow and white fur sprouted from her pores.

All eyes were on her.

And after June transformed, they saw it:

At three meters tall, this cat-like creature stood imposingly over the others.

Its long white fur contrasted with its bright red eyes, which looked almost blood-red under the bright sunlight.

Its claws and saber-toothed fangs were both impressive and intimidating, as if ready to tear through anything in its path. But despite its formidable appearance, there was something soothing about the beast.

Its long, strong tail swayed gently, as if it were trying to reassure those around it. It was clear that June was in control of her transformation, even in this imposing form.

June was now in her beast form, with the special sports suit clinging awkwardly to her fur. She looked a bit funny.

The green haired boy, Izuku, was completely surprised :

"Oh she has a transformation quirk and then also a light beast. Oh an extremely rare and strong Quirk! To have one like that in the class. Oh no...If...*whisper*...then...maybe. *whisper*...That would be...Aha..."

He babbled awkwardly to himself. Izuku was probably in his element. "I definitely need to write that down in my notebook later."

Aizawa's voice rang out again "Ashido, you'll be running with Trill. Both of you, please go to the starting line. "

June Trill, in her beast form, and Mina Ashido, stood side by side, waiting for the starting gun. It was over in a flash.

"5.03 seconds," said the robot at the end, as June sprinted through.

The robot spoke again, "5.48 seconds" Mina came to a stop.

"Better than middle school, but there's more I can do."

June changed back to her human form and Mina approached her, "Woah, you're really fast!" she said with a smile on her face. June just nodded expressionlessly, "Thank you." she said in a hollow voice.

Mina didn't really know how to interact further with her and walked back to their classmates. June did the same, silently.

Quite quickly, everyone had a turn at the 50-meter sprint.

As the other 7 tests concluded, they once again gathered together to await the results. The anticipation was palpable, everyone anxious for the final outcome.
