It began with a smell. At first the tantalizing tip of sweetness. Lifting my head a little sniffing at it. The aroma blossomed into a honeysuckle scent. Stronger than any morning in the many years spent here.

Alisaar, a beautiful planet on the edge of the know galaxy. A secluded place where our ancient race can experience some level of peace. The safe haven to rediscover the most stable state the Aeldari haven't experienced in an age. Our small group came together to create a new Path. One that may bring us into the final step, away from the Primordial Annihilator.

As I sat there, cross legged on a large fluffy pillow, practicing the morning meditation the thought occurred to me. I had never been roused by the scent of flowers or plants. The thought expanding like the twisting growth of a tree. Closing on a century in a state of evolution, this community is redefining the age old tenants that failed us so long ago.

Personally I could never rationalize the emotional state of the realm of madness. Never committing to any static views, the How of true peaceful living in the vivid darkness that permeates this universe.

While lost in contemplation Arnel almost stumbled into the hut. Disheveled and nearly out of breath he managed to get out, "We are under attack! Our peace is broken!"

"How can that be? We have almost no technology or shadow. Pushed out on the edge of the known universe." We spoke rising from my seat.

Bewildered by such abrupt news, we ran out the circular structure. Immediately seeing the plume of smoke rising from the south edge of our settlement. Noticing a group of our people run into the circular meeting hall. The largest structure in the settlement. Not meant for defense, but solid walls and only 2 entrances. We motioned to Arnel to follow and ran for the door. To our horror, this was not the safe place we had hoped.

Two creatures in shadowed armor, ghastly horned helmets, with huge swords cut down the small knot that was ahead of us.

"NO! This is no place for you!" we yelled in surprise and disgust.

"Amusing to hear that you have some control here." said a confident voice.

We turned to look at the other entrance. A sculpture of darkness stood there. A single horn reaching up from its head, with burning green eyes. It stared unmoving at us for just a moment. A glint of silver shone just below the emerald pits, "Don't fret, I will show you."

It moved, with seeming no effort. Darting at us so fast we could barely react. With a shove we fell back. Barely missing Arnel, as he was assaulted by the other two creatures. Crawling backwards in terror, I looked up just in time to see the dark lord lift his blade high to strike.
