By the time Olivia had arrived at calculus, the whole school was buzzing. Everyone was giving her looks and stares, glancing at her quickly before looking back at their phones. She swallowed and sat down in her seat, suddenly feeling smaller than she ever had in her life. She was no fool, she knew what was happening.
It took less a minute before a man she recognised as one of Fitz's agents knocked on the classroom door and stated that she needed to be excused from class immediately. This didn't help help the whispering among the students as she felt the spin of the rumour mill hasten as with her leaving the room. She began walking quickly down the corridor, the agent panting to keep up with her as she practically sped from the building.
"We're going to the White House, aren't we?" She asked, trying keep her head together. When they'd reached the double doors, she'd found a car waiting beyond them. A small black vehicle with tinted windows. She turned back to the agent.
"That's classified Ms. Pope." He'd mumbled before opening the door. She looked at him wearily.
"This is a matter of national security and I'm under orders, so you could make my job a lot easier by getting in the car." She huffed and slid into the passenger seat, only to find the whole reason for this mess sitting next to her.
"I'm sorry, I told them to wait for you so we could go together. I didn't want to freak you out." He said as she sighed and sunk back into the seat behind her.
"How bad is it?" She turned to him to find a pained look on his face as he dug in his pocket before passing her his phone.
The small screen held a picture of them, together, under the tree they'd been sitting at only half an hour before. That seemed like so long ago now. It was the moment before they'd parted, still gently in a kiss and her hand cradling his face. They looked gorgeous together and under any other circumstances she'd smile but she knew what this meant now. She looked up to meet his eyes and found him worried, studying her.
"Are you okay?" He said softly, terrified of her answer.
"I think so, it's just a lot to take in." She shook her head as if to shake the thoughts away and her brow creased in frustration. "This is crazy, this morning we were talking about Emily Dickinson and now the whole world knows about…" She trailed off because she wasn't sure what they were.
"Knows about us." He finished for her. He waited a moment to let the words sink in before asking what they both had on their minds, "What are we?"
"You asked me out."
"I did. But what does that make us? Are you my girlfriend now?" He tested, cautiously.
"Maybe." She hesitated and he frowned.
"Maybe? What does that mean?" She laughed despite everything and took his hand.
"That means you have to ask me properly." and he smiled as the car stopped moving and the door opened.
"After you." He gestured and she hopped out of the car, followed by him. She stood only for a moment, marvelling at the huge white building in front of them, before he took her hand again and they entered.

"When you meet him, don't act too casually, but don't be too formal. He doesn't like it when you slouch or hesitate. He hates when someone thinks he knows more than he does." Fitz whispered quickly and she nodded, slightly terrified at the thought of meeting the President at the White House in the Oval Office.
"The President will see you now." The secretary said as she hung up the phone. They both stood as Fitz opened the door and followed Olivia into the office.
Olivia was surprised, from what she'd seen on tv he'd seemed taller, sharper. He sat now, straight and stiff against his desk but seemingly wooden and cold. He was on the phone to someone and his eyes narrowed when he saw them.
"Thanks, yes, thank you Senator, I'll have to call you back." He hung up and nodded for them to sit behind the desk, as if they were on trial. As the did so, he waited a minute or two before addressing them, sizing both of them up and examining them as if he could instantly see their flaws. He held up a finger and pointed it at Olivia but turned to his son with a murderous look on his face.
"She, wasn't part of the deal, son." He said slowly, threateningly, his words making their own weight as they thudded in Fit'z head.
"Mr. President, Sir-"
"Why wasn't I told!" He yelled, standing and turning to the window as if the problems in the room would just melt away into the rose garden. "How long?" He said and the teenagers shared a glance.
"We met at the library, Sir." Olivia held her voice steady, despite the shivering of her legs under the desk. The President chuckled darkly as he turned back to face them, throwing his hands up in mock surprise.
"Ah! She speaks!"
"Mr. President, I'd like to have this conversation without Olivia present, Sir." Fitz pleased, Olivia shot him a confused and irritated look but he was trying to lessen to blow for her.
"You aren't in this mess alone Fitz. You made it together and you're going to fix it together, is that clear?"
They nodded.
"Good. Now Cyrus Beene is coming in, you two can explain to him the mess you've gotten yourselves into and then clean this shit up before it hits the fan." He walked over to the couch and sat down, pouring himself a drink as the teenagers stared in disbelief.
"You've interrupted my day enough, that'll be all." He said, as they both stood, baffled and unbelieving of their nation's leader.

"I'm sorry about that." He said and Olivia rolled her eyes. He sat hopelessly on his bed, drained and saddened by his father's lack of respect for Olivia. Meanwhile the young woman in question was running her eyes over the large historic looking bookshelf that contained his most prized collection of novels, poetry and even his old records.
"Fitz, you can't keep apologising. It happened, it's done now. We're still here, aren't we?"
He shrugged, "I guess so."
She shook her head and laughed, "Do you have to be such a whiner! Come on!"
She slid a record from it's leave and before he could ask what it was she'd placed it on the record player next to his desk. A trumpet sounded and he chuckled as Sam Cooke's voice came crooning through the speakers.
Let me tell you 'bout a place
Somewhere up a New York way
Where the people are so gay
Twistin' the night away
He watched as she began twisting through the verses, her dancing wild and slightly dorky but she moved in a way that captivated him and made him forget the song as she swivelled her hips to the music.
They're twistin', twistin'
Everybody's feelin' great
They're twistin', twistin'
They're twistin' the night away
She grew tired of him just staring at her, eyes smiling and grabbed his hands, pulling him off the bed and out of his slump. They began mirroring each other as they twisted, he spun her round and out and caught her again as her laugh echoed in his ears. Once the laughing stopped they realised the song had changed. The slower tempo pushed him to gather her slowly towards him, his hands coming to rest comfortably on the small of her back as her arms slid around his neck, they began swaying gently.
If I go, a million miles away
I'd write a letter, each and everyday
'Cause honey nothing, nothing can ever change this love I have for you
Their foreheads rested against one another and soon her lips were printing a path from his cheek to her mouth, where they stayed, intertwined with him. He leaned in and she opened her mouth further as her hands began running through his hair while his ran down her backside, pulling her closer towards him. She inhaled slightly but the thought thrilled her and she could feel something starting to build between them as she-
A knock startled them both and they flew apart, detangling themselves from each other quickly.
"Come in." Fitz sounded horse as the door opened, Olivia blushed and kept her gaze towards the floor.
Tom stuck his head through the door.
"Excuse me Sir, but Cyrus Beene is here to see you."
He groaned inwardly, "Thanks Tom, we'll be right down."
