Chapter 6

Fixer Upper

"Neeeeeeeeerrrr"

An old red biplane landed on a dirt airstrip in the middle of the desert. Kicking up plumes of dust and pebbles as its wheels skid to a halt.

"Wowee Zowee!" Marine the Raccoon exclaimed. "I've never been on a plane before! That was awesome possum!"

Tails the Fox smiled, he had never seen such a cute and childish reaction to riding the Tornado, he remembered back when he first learned how to pilot the Tornado as well.

"OK Marine, welcome to my workshop, I'll make you a new desert speeder lickety split. I must warn you though..." Tails was nervous, he had never brought a girl into his workshop. "I've got to warn you... its kind of messy."

Tails opened the swinging doors to his workshop, revealing a virtual Cave of Wonders of machine parts. Parts stacked on top of parts, boxes and boxes strewn haphazardly over tables. Chili dog wrappers and pizza boxes overflowed the garbage, spilling onto the floor. Frankly, Tails felt embarrassed at the pigsty that Sonic and he had created.

"Hehe, home sweet home."

"Ripper!"Instead of the look of disgust that Tails expected for a typical girl, he saw the look of wonder, the glimmer in Marine's eyes of the endless bounty of machine parts before her.

"Strewth! Look'it all this stuff Tails! I've never seen anything like it! I can't wait to get started! But what will we call our new machine?"

"How about the Marine Desert Speeder 2?" Replied Tails.

Marine shook her head. "No, its not MY desert speeder anymore, its OUR desert speeder. So we'll just have to call it the Marails Desert Speeder 2!"

"Awwww." Tails blushed at the cuteness of this young perky raccoon.

The Marails Desert Speeder was coming along nicely. Tails bent down to pick up a box, giving Marine a nice view. "Tails, did anyone ever say you have a nice butt behind those two tails?" Flirted Marine.

"Wha? Wha? My butt?" Tails covered up his butt with his hands.

"Yessir mate! I don't know why everyone calls you Tails, you should be called Butt instead!"

"Noooo." Tails was blushing beet red. This girl had her own way of flirting, direct and sassy, completely different than the prim and proper little bunny Cream. But a part of Tails liked this humiliation.

"Awww Tails, I was just kidding about that name part, its so cute seeing you get all embarrassed like that. But you do have a nice butt."

"Thank... I guess."

Just then...

"Boom!" The swinging metal doors burst open as a familiar face accompanied by a strange lavender cat blasted into Tails's workshop.

"Sonic!" Gasped Tails as he saw his best friend injured, limping alongside the strange lavender cat.

"Hey buddy, long time no see."

"Blaze! Blaze! Blaze!" Marine the Raccoon ran over to hug her best friend in the world.

"No Marine!" Blaze yelled. "Marine... I've already hurt Sonic with my curse, I couldn't bear to hurt you as well."

"OK..." Whimpered Marine. "I searched all over for you Blaze."

Blaze felt sorry for her friend, she realized just how much Marine cared for her. "Marine... you really care about me don't you, you came all this way just for me."

"How about just a high five Marine? I'm sure I can control that."

"Okie dokie. High five mate!'

CLAP!

"Tails, meet my best friend in the whole world Princess Blaze!"

"Nice to meet you Blaze. Welcome to my workshop." Now Tails felt outright ashamed, it was one thing to bring Marine to his disaster of a workshop, but a princess?"

Tails saw Sonic holding hands with Blaze, bracing her for support.

"Oh Sonic... I didn't know you were seeing other girls besides Amy."

"Wha? Tails come on buddy, its not like that."

Marine had that mischievous look on her face again. "Blaze, I always knew you wanted a boyfriend, you two look so cute together."

"Boyfriend? No Marine, its not like that. Sonic's NOT my boyfriend!"

"Oh whats the issue here dear?" Said Tails "Why are you holding back from such a man?"

Is it his chili dog breath?
Or his hair's a great big mess?
Or his pear shaped square shaped wierdness of his feet?
Although he washes well he always ends up sort of smelly
But you'll never meet a fella who's as sensitive and sweet!

So he's a bit of a fixer upper
So he's got a few mistakes
He's always runn'in
But he's lots of funn'in
At least he's not a snake

So he's a bit of a fixer upper
But this I'm certain of.
You can fix this fixer upper up
With a little bit of love!

"Hey cool it Tails, we're just friends, sheesh, he always get like this when he's singing."

Blaze saw Marine with that devious grin. "Oh no, not you too Marine! Don't you even think about singing!"

So she's a bit of a fixer upper
She's always oh so shy.
But give her a chance
With a little romance.
And look at her pretty eyes.

So she's a bit of a fixer upper
But we know what to do.
The way to fix up this fixer upper
Is to fix her up with you.

"Marine! Tails! Stop this at once!" Commanded Blaze. "Don't even bother" replied Sonic, just let them sing themselves out. Marine and Tails began to sing in unison.

We all need each other
To help cheer us up.
Everyone's a bit of a fixer upper
But when push comes to shove.
The only way to fix up a fixer upper is with

"WE'RE NOT IN LOVE!" Sonic and Blaze both blurted out in unison. They looked at each other and blushed.

"Hey Tails buddy, we've kind of got a bigger problem right now." The blue hedgehog turned around, revealing a glass tail. "Its this."

"Gasp! Sonic! Your tail is made of glass!"

"Hey don't worry about it, its just a tail." Sonic flinched as one of his quills slowly turned clear, turning into cold hard glass.

"No! Sonic. It's all my fault." Cried Blaze.

Marine remembered when Blaze and her were children, when Blaze couldn't control her fire powers and burned her. She still had the scar to show for it, a small patch of singed black fur that never healed. And now Sonic was the curse's new victim. She knew what Blaze was going through and decided to comfort her friend.

"Blaze... I know how you feel, but don't keep blaming yourself mate, we've just got to get back to the Sol Palace and see Tikal, she'll know what to do."

"Right!" Said the always enthusiastic fox. "I'm a mechanic not a magician. I guess this means we're just going to have to make the Marails Desert Speeder a 4 seater!"

"Now that's the spirit!" Cheered Sonic.

Blaze calmed down a little, she was touched by at the strength and love shown by her friends. "Maybe one day I'll find love too."

Marine and Tails worked double the speed at building the new 4 seater Marails Desert Speeder. Blaze discovered that her fire came in handy for welding metal. She smiled as she saw how well Marine got along with Tails. "I wish I could be more like you Marine, more energetic and social, but I can't. This curse won't let me. I'll never find love because of this curse."

A few hours later...

"Ta da!"

Marine and Tails uncovered their new creation to Sonic and Blaze.

"Introducing the Marails Desert Speeder!" Announced Marine. "She's a real beauty, aint she Blaze?"

"Yes Marine, good job, I'm impressed."

"Same goes for you too Tails." Congratulated Sonic.

"Awww." Tails and Marine blushed at being complimented for their work.

"So let's get going already!" Announced the impatient hedgehog. "I'm about to turn into a statue here."

Blaze appreciated the mask of confidence and pride that this hedgehog put on, but she knew she had to fix this, and fast.

"OK, everyone ready-roo?" Said Marine behind the wheel of the Marails Desert Speeder.

"READY!"

"Ripper! Let's go!"

The Marails Desert Speeder sped off into the distance with four friends on board, heading over the horizon towards the Sol Kingdom.

I'm sorry for not uploading a new chapter in so long. I've been having a lot of computer issues as of late and I've had to replace my entire computer with a new one. But I like my new computer so much more! I like the new Sonic TV series Sonic Boom a lot. Its my favorite of all the Sonic cartoons.
