Chapter 7

Curse of the Burned Heart

Wind whipped through Blaze's lavender fur as she sped through the desert on the Marails Desert Speeder, the desert was a beautiful sight, it stretched as far as the eye could see. Two days ago, this was Blaze's "Kingdom of Isolation," but today, it was a majestic portrait that she got to share with her three friends.

Blaze was enjoying the view, her friends, and the wind through her fur, but she knew something wrong about the blue hedgehog sitting next to her. Some of Sonic's quills were already as clear and cold as glass, and Blaze knew that it was all her fault.

"We've got to get back to the Sol Kingdom, but I'm so tired... I haven't really slept in days..."

"Yaawwwwwn." Blaze nodded off for a cat nap, landing her head unconsciously on Sonic's shoulder, his warm, strong, pillow-like shoulder.

"Purrrrrr." Blaze felt Sonic's warm fur against her own. "Ah this feels so good. I wish I could just lay here forever, I feel so safe right now."

As Blaze was dozing on Sonic's shoulder, her sensitive cat ears picked up a sound, an unpleasant sound of heavy metal rock music and the rev of a loud engine, and it was getting closer. Suddenly she woke up to see a jet black motorcycle careening through the desert right at her!

"Bloody 'ell bugger!" Marine steered the wheel of the Marails Desert Speeder, narrowly dodging the oncoming motorcycle. The black motorcycle sped alongside the Marails Desert Speeder and riding on it was a familiar menace that Sonic knew all too well.

"Shadow! What are you doing here!?"

"That's PRINCE Shadow to you faker! I should say the same thing to you old friend. I'll tell you what I'm here for..." The black hedgehog pointed a gun at Blaze. "I'm here for HER!"

BLAM!

Shadow shot a net at Blaze, ensnaring her in a tangle of ropes and dragging her from the Marails Desert Speeder towards his motorcycle.

"Sonic!" Blaze yelled.

"Blaze!"

Blaze tried burning the ropes, but it was no use.

"Did you actually think that would work?" Snarled the black hedgehog "That net blocks your fire kittycat, and your coming with me!" Shadow dragged Blaze on to his motorcycle, racing away from the Marails Desert Speeder.

"Damn this thing is too slow!" Sonic jumped off the speeder to run towards Shadow and Blaze. "You can't outrace me on that thing Shadow!"

"Grrrr. Annoying faker!"

"Sonic!" Yelled Blaze. Sonic was catching up to the motorcycle, getting within inches of Blaze.

"Blaze! Take my hand!" Sonic's hand got closer and closer until...

"Argh!" The blue hedgehog fell flat on his face, sending him far behind Shadow's motorcycle.

"Hah! Later loser!" Vvvvvrrooooooommmm!

Unable to get up, Sonic lay defeated on the desert floor, watching Blaze disappear into the horizon.

Marine and Tails stopped their vehicle right next to Sonic.

"Sonic, what's wrong?" Tails ran up to Sonic checking on his leg. "Gasp! Sonic! Your foot is made of glass! Your going to turn into glass if we don't do something soon!" Tails began to cry. "I can't lose you Sonic!"

"Hey don't worry buddy, nothing can keep me down!"

Marine saw that Shadow's motorcycle tracks were headed towards her home, the Sol Kingdom. "We've gotta get going Sonic n' Tails, that bugger be heading for my home, the Sol Kingdom!"

In a dark and unknown dungeon...

Prince Shadow led Blaze, handcuffed into a dark dungeon. Blaze could smell the cool dank air of the jail, droplets of water dripped from the ceiling, plopping onto the hard stone floor below.

"Grrr!" Blaze growled as she tried to burn through the heavy iron chains. But try as she might, no matter how hot her paws got, the chains wouldn't budge an inch.

The devious Prince Shadow watched in amusement. "Your not getting out of those! I have you now. No more fun with that pauper Sonic, he's about to turn to glass any second now, and its all thanks to you princess, you've done all the hard work for me."

Blaze cried "What do you want!?"

Shadow smiled, "I want to make you a deal princess. I can solve all your problems, I can make the weather normal again, I can save the Sol Kingdom from forever summer, if..."

"If?"

"If you give ME the Sol Emeralds!"

Blaze gasped, "Never! I'll never give you the Sol Emeralds!"

"Suit yourself kitty cat, but you'll come around, I just know it. And once the Sol Emeralds are mine, I'll rule over the Sol Kingdom, and then the entire world!"

Shadow began to laugh maniacally.

"BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Tails and Marine, along with an injured Sonic the Hedgehog stopped the Marails Desert Speeder at the Sol Palace. This was the first time Sonic and Tails had ever seen such a royal palace. It was a grand spectacle to see, tall arches and towers adorned the castle. But Sonic could see something was wrong- out of place. He saw the scorched black burn marks of singed wood and grass scattered about the palace grounds, and he knew who it was from- he could see Blaze's sadness burned across the courtyard of the Sol Palace.

"Home sweet home." Smiled Marine, "Just as I had left it. Still hotter n' hell"

"Ahhh!" Tails shielded his eyes from the sun. "It really is just like summer here Marine, and in the middle of the winter too!"

"No kidding," said Sonic, "I could use an ice cream right about now, or a chili dog with ice cream on top."

"Yessir mates! That's why we need to find Blaze, and fast. We've got to reverse this summer and save you, Sonic! But first let's meet my friend Tikal, she'll know what to do."

Marine swung open the enormous twin wooden doors of the Sol Palace. Although she had been gone from the palace for only 2 days, it felt like an eternity, all the memories that she and Blaze had shared, all the friendship, all the fun times, all the isolation and neglect, washed over the young raccoon.

"Uh Marine? Shouldn't we knock first?" Asked Tails.

"No way Jose! They love me at the Sol Palace, its practically my home! I can come and go whenever I want!"

"TIKAAAAL TIKAAAAAL! Where are you?"

"Coming." A Beautiful orange echidna walked down the stairs of the Sol Palace, she wore an elegant green priestess dress and golden bands adorned her silken hair. The very essence of magic could be felt in the air around her."

"Welcome to the Sol Palace. Pleased to meet you guests and Marine, now how may I help you."

"Guuuuu, pretty..." Tails was hypnotized by Tikal's beauty and radiance, drooling from his lips.

"Ah! No Tails!" Marine gasped, she was jealous. "He's mine! And don't you dare take him Tikal!"

"Tikal!" Marine spoke up. "I came here from the Mobius kingdom with my two new friends Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails the Fox. We found Blaze, but she got kidnapped by a wicked black hedgehog named Prince Shadow!"

"Oh no!" Tikal had a look of terror in her eyes. "I know of Prince Shadow, he will stop at nothing to steal the Sol Emeralds and their powers! We must find Princess Blaze and put a stop to Shadow's evil schemes!"

"No problemo!" Bragged Sonic. "I'll kick Shadow's butt and have time left over for a chili-dog!"

Tikal could sense that this blue Hedgehog was in pain, then she saw the cold, clear, glass quills on his head and she knew what was wrong."Oh no!"

"What is it?" Asked Marine. "You can cure Sonic's glass quills and foot right Tikal?"

Tikal swallowed hard and prepared for what to say. "Sonic, your life is in danger, there is fire in your heart put there by Blaze. If it is not removed... then to solid glass will you freeze, forever."

"What? No!" Gasped Tails.

"But you can remove it right?" Asked Marine.

"I'm sorry Sonic, Tails, Marine. If it was his head that would be easy... But only an act of true love can cool a burned heart."

"True love?" Sonic was confused and sad...

"True love..." Sonic remembered all the ex girlfriends of his past, all the women he had ever loved, and all the women who have broken his heart. Fiona Fox, Mina Mongoose, Sally Acorn, and his current relationship with Amy Rose.

"Sonic." Tails was worried. "The only girl who has ever said she loves you is Amy Rose, come on Sonic, we've got to go back to her."

"Oh no you don't buster!" Yelled Marine, grabbing Sonic's right arm. "Sonic loves Blaze. And Blaze loves Sonic! They are gonna get married and make a baby, right Sonic?"

"Eh heh..." Sonic was embarrassed at the childishness and immaturity of Tails and Marine.

"Marine, stop it! Amy said she loves Sonic, we're trying to cure his burned heart, remember? Come on Sonic, let's go." Tails grabbed Sonic's left arm.

"No! Sonaze! Sonaze! Sonaze forever!" Whined Marine, yanking on Sonic's arm.

"Marine! Amy loves Sonic! She said so!" Whined Tails, yanking on his other arm.

Sonic had enough of this. "Enough! Come on guys, you know what my true love is? Kicking Shadow's butt and eating chili dogs! Now that's MY true love! Let's worry about this later. Right now we've got to find Blaze and stop Shadow! Right guys?"

Marine, Tails, and Sonic looked at each other with the fire of determination in their eyes. "RIGHT!"

Chapter 7- End

Sorry for not uploading a new chapter in a long time. I really was stuck in how to make Princess Blaze be captured because I didn't make a stand-in for Hans back in chapter 1. So I decided to make Shadow as the Hans for this story. I liked the scene of Tails and Marine shipping Sonamy and Sonaze, its cute and funny. I actually copied Tikal's dialogue of explaining how the Curse of the Burned Heart works directly from Frozen.
