The 10th Division
Hitsugaya lead Rin and Nobu to squad 10 in mostly silence, if Nobu wasn't complaining most of the time. Hitsugaya couldn't help but roll his eyes about Nobu complaining if they were there yet. He's such a child, him and Matsumoto will get along smoothly. Great. He peeked at Rin's face to see her reactions to Nobu's complaining but saw nothing but indifference. It seems she never reacts. Hitsugaya was so intent on looking at her face that he didn't notice Nobu slightly glaring at him startling him when he saw his face right next to his.
"I see you were checking her out. Thinking of pulling some funny business with her, hmm?" Nobu said slowly getting closer to Hitsugaya's face.
Hitsugaya's face slowly got redder with Nobu's accusations. "N-no! I-I was just.."
"I mean I know she's a looker but she is still my sister." Nobu said grinning lewdly a little.
"Nobu, you speak another word and I'll castrate you." They both looked at Rin and Hitsugaya thought she looked calm, which made it scarier. "Or I'll tell every woman you meet that you're gay, and married."
"Nooooo!" Nobu threw himself on the ground. "Anything but gay!"
So it's ok if you're gay? Hitsugaya thought puzzled.
"Uhh, Captain?" Hitsugaya heard behind him.
He slowly turned and saw most of his division staring at the group in confusion. Matsumoto was in the front of the group and looked like she was about to burst with laughter. "What's pfft, going on?"
Hitsugaya composed himself and coughed while Nobu and Rin stood next to each other. "This is Rin and Nobu. They will both be staying here for a while on the Head Captain orders so treat them with respect."
Everyone blinked then smiled and came up to the group to say hello. The girls were all giggling around Nobu and the men were laughing at their antics. Hitsugaya looked over at Rin he saw that she was being observed by a group of blushing men.
"You talk to her first!" he heard someone whisper in the group.
"No way! She's way out of my league! You talk to her first!" someone else whispered back.
"Hell no! Not only is she out of my league but she's kinda scary too."
Hitsugaya watched as the group fidgeted a little more until someone finally stepped out of the group. He was most likely pushed. The man slowly walked up to Rin and fidgeted a little more.
"S-so Rin right?" he said nervously.
Rin looked up at him and nodded slightly. "And your name?"
"U-uh, it's Aki." He said looking down.
Rin nodded her head in acknowledgement. "Nice to meet you."
Aki fidgeted there for a few seconds then ran back to the group. "Dude she knows my name now!"
Hitsugaya rolled his eyes, they're acting like a bunch of school girls. He walked past the group of men and up to Rin. She bowed to him and he bowed slightly to her. "Seems you got some admirers."
"It's not unusual. Simple men and woman are very attracted to the idea of the unknown. If they see people that are 'unusual' than they flock. You don't have to be exceptionally beautiful to grab that kind of attention, just 'unusual'." She said while staring at Nobu with slight irritation. "At least I try to avoid the spotlight but Nobu revels in it."
Hitsugaya looked back to Nobu then to her just noticing there unusual clothing, especially Rin's. You could see a lot of her skin when most woman cover up. And without thinking he blurted out, "Why do you wear those clothes then?"
Rin turned her head slightly to him with one eyebrow cocked in question. "W-what I mean is if you don't want to stand out why wear the revealing clothing."
Rin nodded her head then turned her head away from him, "It makes my job easier."
"What job?" he asked.
She looked in his direction and he swore he saw a mischievous look in her eyes but as fast as it was there, it was gone. "I guess you'll just have to find out."
She walked away from him and toward Nobu. Hitsugaya couldn't help but think of how much an enigma she was, her whole family was but mostly her. He didn't notice Matsumoto sneak up on him while he was still staring at Rin.
"You like her huh?" Matsumoto said slyly making Hitsugaya jump a little.
"Matsumoto." He said warningly.
"Whhaattt? You were kinda staring at her for a long time so I was just wonderin'. And you guys would be so perfect! She's shorter than you!" Matsumoto carried on excitedly while he just walked away.
Hitsugaya walked over to Rin and Nobu ignoring the squealing girls, "The Lieutenant and I will show you to your rooms."
Rangiku practically skipped over to the group and followed them into the division. She smirked at Rin and Hitsugaya who were walking next to each other in front of her and Nobu. There so stinking cute!
"You thinkin' what I'm thinkin'?" Nobu said next to her smirking.
Rangiku smiled, "Well of course!" I knew I'd get along with this one.
"They both need someone don't they?" Nobu said with a soft and sad smile. "I know that she does."
Rangiku looked slightly surprised by his serious demeanor, what happened to the playboy that I saw earlier? "Yea I know that he does."
He turned to smirk at her and she couldn't help but blush a little, just a little, "Then we should get started soon right?"
She smiled at him, "The earlier the better and I think I have an idea already."
They both stopped talking when they reached a room. Hitsugaya turned to Rin and Nobu, "So who wants this room?"
"Actually Hitsugaya," Hitsugaya got slightly irritated with Nobu's lack of saying his rank, "Rin and I can share a room, we always have."
Hitsugaya and Matsumoto gaped at his scandalous request both not helping but think, they sleep in the same room!
"Nobu." Rin said warningly.
"Whaat? It's true! We even sleep in the same bed sometimes!" Nobu said whiningly.
"We haven't done that in years and you know it. Besides I moved out of your room after your repeated 'conquests' in there." Rin said a little exasperated.
Rangiku and Hitsugaya blushed at her last comment but Hitsugaya realized something, If they're not dating then why would he want to share a room?
"Aww come on sis!" both Matsumoto and Hitsugaya were surprised by Nobu's statement. Brother and sister!? But they look nothing alike!
"It's still scandalous even if we are 'siblings' especially since were not related by blood." Rin said tiredly.
"Sooo? What they think I'm going to screw you or something?" Nobu looked at Matsumoto and Hitsugaya seeing their blushes, "Ew! Even if we weren't related I wouldn't screw you! The very thought gives me chills."
Rin was quiet for a few moments then turned to Hitsugaya, "He can take this room. I fear if we share a room I'll kill him." Then she walked off.
Matsumoto stayed behind to show Nobu where everything was in his room. Hitsugaya lead Rin to a room just down the hall, not far from his room.
Rin turned to Hitsugaya and looked him straight in the eyes. "I apologize for Nobu's behavior, my brother can be a bit overwhelming sometimes."
Hitsugaya looked down a little being too captivated by her eyes. "There's no need to apologize."
Rin nodded her head a little then entered her new room but stopped for a moment. Hitsugaya looked over her shoulder to see if there was something wrong with her room but saw nothing.
Rin shook out of whatever was holding her to that one spot and let Hitsugaya show her where everything was. They bid each other goodnight and Hitsugaya went to his room. I wonder what made her freeze like that.
Rin still didn't move from her spot in the middle of the room, frozen with unwanted memories. She surveyed the room and determined that it was almost the same, except that it was cleaner. Why now? She sighed and removed her mask, revealing pink pouty lips but also a jagged scar running from the middle of her cheek running down to the side of her lip and ending at her chin. Rin gently touched her scar and saw a memory of being in this room jam packed with children around the age of 9 to 12.
Rin shook off the memory and heard her door opening then closing. She knew who it was and could feel them gently pull her down to sit on the floor with her between his legs. He held her tightly but not so much that it hurt and just sat there in silence for a little.
"It looks just like it doesn't it?" Nobu said to her in a soft soothing voice.
"Y-yea, it does." She hated that her voice cracked but couldn't help it.
"Are you sure you don't want to sleep in the same room?" he asked with concern and a slightly teasing manner.
Rin smiled a little, "Only for tonight."
Nobu smiled softly and held her and couldn't help but think that they both might be okay now.
