"...and this is your little brother, Avery. Say hi to your little brother, baby." I wake to the sounds of Rachel's voice. I look over to see Ava cuddling into Rachel's side, pecking over to get a look at the baby.
Ava whispers out hello and moves even closer to Rachel and the baby.
"I hold?" Ava sticks her arms out.
Rachel chuckles. "Wait until mama wakes up to help you, okay?"
Ava huffs and I can't help but to chuckle. She's just too cute!
"Mama come help, please." Ava gets excited when she looks over and sees me awake.
I walk over to the opposite side of the bed so I can kiss Rachel's forehead and check on my baby boy. "Why didn't you wake me?"
Rachel says that she was fine and that Ava had only been with us for about thirty minutes. She wanted me to get some rest. That's just like Rachel. She's spends the hours doing all this hard work to bring hour son into his world and she's more worried about me resting than herself.
I walk around the bed and pick up Ava and squeeze her close to me. "How's my princess?"
"Good." She says looking back over at the baby. "I have a little brother!"
Rachel and I share a laugh. I place a kiss to my daughter head before sitting my her back down. I take Avery from Rachel and she wraps her arms around Ava before a sit Avery in her arms. I mostly hold him up as Ava wraps her little arms around him.
"Hey baby!"
"Not so loud, princess." I shush her.
"Sorry." Ava kisses her little brothers head. "Love you."

I sigh as I watch Matt pace in front of me. He called me and asked to come over. I haven't seen him a few days because of my work schedule. I went back to work after three weeks of being off to help with the baby and everything. Now I'm just trying to get back into the swing of things. It's the same but different now that we have another kid.
One of the biggest things is Rachel not working. All through her pregnancy and even these past few weeks we have been discussing her being sure that she wants to be a stay at home mother. Rachel loves teaching and being productive so staying at home would be foreign to her. But she reassured me that this is what she wants. She wants to wait until Avery is at least two before going back to work. But she still wanted to do something, so a few times a week she will go down to the gym and take care of the business there. For right now I'm not going to lead a class at the gym, I'm just going to focus on my nursing job and my family. I don't want to burn myself out. But so far so good.
I've only been at home long enough to shower and play with Ava a little before Matt showed up.
"Dude just spit it out. I want to take my daughter out back to play while I still have the energy." I sent Ava to play in the other room for a little. I promised to take her to play on her swing set and that's a promise I intend on keeping.
"Okay...okay." Matt stops in front of the couch. "I'm sorry guys." Matt looks from me over to Rachel who is rocking Avery in her arms.
"Matt it's fine. Just...wait." Rachel pulls Avery closer to her. "Do you want to talk to Santana alone? I can go."
"No." Matt quickly shakes he's head. "No I want you here too."
I roll my eyes. "Just say it Matt."
"I'm going ask Em to marry me!"
"Omg that's great Matthew!" Rachel squeals.
"About time. Damn." I get up and pull him into a hug.
They've been dating forever it seems like and we already consider Emily family. This is great news.
"Yea. I know." Matt grins. "I'm just nerves. Marriage is a big step, you know?"
Rachel and I laugh. "Yeah we know."
"But even with its ups and downs, it's still great." Rachel smiles over at me.
"So Rachel will you be able to go ring shopping with me. Emily has been hinting at a few but I don't know nothing about this stuff."
"Hey! What about me? I am your best friend." I say offended that he didn't ask me to accompany him.
"Um no thanks." Matt frowns. "You're just as bad as me. Remember how long it took you to find one for Rachel?"
He's right. It took me almost two weeks to decided which ring to buy her. But if your girlfriend was picky ass Rachel Berry, you'd make sure it was perfect too.
"I guess your right." I nod. "Hey come out back with us. We can talk and keep my princess entertained at the same time."
"Okay cool."
"Yeah. You can practice your father skills."
"Whoa. It's to early for any of that. I'm okay with being cool uncle Matt for right now."
"Whatever." I laugh. "Come here little man." I bend down to pick up Avery from Rachel.
"What are you doing?" Rachel complains when I start to head to the back of the house.
"Go take a nap or something, babe. I'll take care of the kids."
"San I'm not tired."
"Okay,well...go read or something." I shrug. "Just have some alone time."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive." I give her a wink before walking away to spend some time with my best friend and my babies.
