Finally decided to update this story...sorry it has been so long but with Cory's death I just lost my motivation to write. I believe it is time to start writing again however and when I was tossing up which story to update first it just had to be THIS ONE!

I have fallen in love with this story so much and plan to update it once a week or more because I am obsessed with writing it.

So please enjoy this chapter and bear with me as I am just starting to get my writing mojo back. Xx

Finn's pure eyes shone back at her and she could see the little glimmer of hope flicker across them. Finn finally felt like he was starting to fit in, even if this petite brunette sitting in front of him was pretty much the exact opposite of him in every possible way.

"So that's pretty much all you need to know about me" Rachel smiled, folding her hands neatly in her lap.

"Wow, you sure do talk a lot." Finn snickered. Rachel's cheeks flushed red as she twirled a strand of loose hair around her pinkie finger. "Not that it's a bad thing," Finn corrected himself, clearly flustered. "I just mean that you have spoken to me more than any other girl has before, that's all."

Rachel beamed her brightest smile as she took one of Finn's calloused hands in hers.

"Now Finn," she started, "stop putting it off and tell me something about yourself."

"Well...my name is Finn." He started, trying to find something interesting about himself to say since this girl clearly had her whole life mapped out at age 8. Rachel just giggled at his obvious nervousness and stared him directly in the eyes, hoping to pry out of him whatever made him so timid. "I guess I have never really been one for talking." He sighed, placing his head in his hands.

"It's okay Finn." Rachel comforted placing her small hand on his back. "I talk so much that we balance each other out." She giggled shyly. Finn's head raised and a small half smirk appeared on his normally gloomy face. It was like the clouds parting and a rainbow taking their place.

Finn didn't know what made him so shy. From a young age he just never knew what to say or when to say it. His parents had tried to get him to fit in with other children, enrolling him in many afterschool activities but now that they were gone he never thought he could comfortably talk to someone else ever again but somehow Rachel made him feel so comfortable. She wasn't like the other kids in the orphanage, she wasn't content with being stuck here and she dreamt of something bigger. Finn liked how she dreamt so big, he didn't think he knew how to do that.

"Well, I am 8 years old and I love music, especially playing my drums..." Finn drifted off into thought as he remembered his drum set that sat in the corner of his small bedroom. When he got home from school he would just pick up his drumsticks and beat out a steady rhythm imagining himself performing a drum solo in front of a sold out crowd. Absentmindedly he began taping a familiar rhythm on the bare of his legs as his eyelids closed and his head starting bopping to the beat in his head.

Rachel just sat there and watched, mesmerised at this boy's ability to get lost in thought so easily. Reaching out her hand to tap on his shoulder she startled him from his dreams and a dark crimson flooded his cheeks as he realised what had happened.

"Sorry." Finn stated shyly, "I guess I just miss being able to play the drums you know? It probably sounds stupid but I really want to be a rock star one day."

"It doesn't sound stupid. I want to be a ballerina and you want to be a rock star, so what? No dreams are stupid and all are achievable. We need something to get us through our time in here."

"I guess." Finn shrugged, "But I will never get to play my drums again, they didn't let me bring them here. You're lucky that you got to keep your ballet shoes." They both sat there in silence, the only sound the faint echoes of the other children still playing happily down the hall. Suddenly Rachel sat up straight, patting down her hair and slipping off her ballet shoes, placing them back under the box and turning to face Finn with a huge smile. Finn just reciprocated her smile with a look of curiosity and complete bewilderment.

"You know what Finn Hudson? I think I might just know how we can get you a drum kit." A giant smile took over Finn's face as Rachel reached out her hand to help him up from the floor.

Leaning in closely, placing her mouth up to his ear she whispered.

"It's risky though. It's going against the rules, but..." Finns smile somewhat faded as he looked at her questioningly.

"I don't want to get in trouble. I only just got here and I have nowhere else to go." Finn said, folding his arms in front of his chest.

"Don't worry; I never said we were going to get caught now did I?" Rachel smiled slyly, already planning their risky task. "So are you with me?" Finn nodded. "Partners in crime" Rachel beamed reaching out her pinkie finger towards Finn.

"Forever." Finn replied, linking their fingers together as they went out into battle.

Decided not to leave you on so much of a cliff-hanger this time... However what do you think Rachel's plan will be?! And will they get caught or will they be the sneakiest partners in crime ever?!
