6 MONTHS LATER
Amber was the best maid of honor any bride could ever ask for. Amber, Mary and Missy helped Mac plan the wedding down to the smallest detail. McKenzie even added Josh's girlfriend, Annabel and Judith's daughter, Piper to her bridesmaids' line. Jake evened it out by getting Jim's sons, David and Brandon to be his groomsmen. Sandra, Sandra's husband, Gregory and their children, Gavin, Sarah, Gracie and one month old, Samuel flew in a week ago. Sandra and the kids got fitted in their dresses and tux. Jim's sons, David and Brandon flew in 2 days before, and went to the bachelor party with Jake.
Mac told everyone she didn't want to know about the bachelor party and what they did and Jake said likewise.
McKenzie couldn't recall ever being this nervous. She wasn't even this nervous going into labor. They were at the venue where their wedding is being held getting dressed. Missy and Mary wrestled with Aubree getting her into her flower girl dressed.
"She's not a happy camper today." McKenzie giggled. "She didn't get much sleep last night."
"Yeah, because you were up all times of the night." Amber spoke up. "Waking her up."
Jake stayed with his mother the night before because it was bad luck to see the bride. Amber had stayed with McKenzie and Aubree.
"I just love this dress." Sandra said looking down at her dark purple (longer in the back, shorter in the front) dress.
Sandra and Annabel were wearing the dark purple dresses, Chelsea and Piper were wearing lavender dresses, and Amber and Jessica were wearing gold dresses. Everyone was wearing the same gold strap heels.
"Jake looks as though he's fixing to pass out." Mary said. "So, you're not the only one who is nervous, Mac."
That made Mac smile knowing that only a few rooms down Jake was sweating and pacing the floor. She could just picture him in her head pacing, mumbling under his breath. Just like he did when she was in labor.
The bridesmaids and Mary walked out taking the flower girls with them. It was almost time to walk down the aisle.
"You look beautiful, McKenzie." Mary said kissing her cheek before heading to the door.
McKenzie's father walked in and closed the door. It was Mac and her parents.
"I have something old and borrowed but not blue." He told his daughter.
He pulled a small box out of his pocket and opened it. It was one carat lavender diamond earrings.
"Daddy, they're beautiful." McKenzie told her father.
"There were your Grandma Morris's earrings." Mark told her. "She wanted me to keep them for when you got married."
McKenzie and Missy teared up. Her Grandma Morris passed away when she was 10. She had very fond memories of her grandma and missed her dearly.
He took them out of the box and handed them to his ex-wife with tears also in his eyes. Her mother put the earrings in her daughter's ears.
"Lavender was Grandma Morris's favorite color and that's why I picked it." McKenzie said with a smile and hugged her dad. "Thank you."
He nodded.
"Ok, I'm going to go before I cry all of my makeup off." Missy said dabbing her eyes with a tissue. "See you two out there."
Her mother left and a few moments later, they heard the music start.
"It's time." Mark said with a small smile.
"Dad, don't cry." She told him.
"I'm not promising anything." He said offering her his arm.
She just smiled and looped her arm in his. They walked up to the doorway and she seen Jake smile when he seen her. She gave him a smile back, feeling her heart flutter.
"Please don't let me trip."
"I won't." He dad said with a small chuckle.
He walked his daughter down the aisle and the 100 guests looked at her. She invited most of the entire deck hands of the fleets and seen Freddy Maugatai up in the front sitting beside Mary. He wiped tears from his eyes. Freddy was like a brother to both Jake and Josh.
She gave him a warm smile. He had come to visit them and to see Aubree after the opilio season ended and Aubree just loved him. He was her uncle Freddy and he promised to teach her some Samoan when she gets a little older.
Mark shook Jake's hand and handed Mac over to him.
"Take care of my daughter."
"Always." Jake promised.
They said their vows and were then pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Harris. After he kissed her, Amber handed her a tissue as Mac wiped her eyes as they walked down the aisle. They went over to the reception hall.
Jake and Mac danced and then Jake danced with his daughter as Mark danced with Mac. When it was time to cut the cake, Mac looked over at Jake.
"Do not smear cake on my face, Jacob."
"Ok."
She gave him a look and he chuckled. He did like she asked and didn't smear cake on her face but she did to him. She giggled as cameras flashed. Mac looked over at her husband and smiled when she seen Jake had already took off his tux jacket and loosened his tie. He was never one to really dress up. The wedding and reception were just like a dream. It was perfect.
After the reception, they changed into comfortable clothes and walked out of the venue. Everyone was waiting and threw rice at them. They kissed their daughter bye and got into his BMW.
They headed off to Lake Chelan where they would spend their honeymoon.
6 WEEKS LATER
McKenzie got off her 12 hour shift at the hospital and was so exhausted. She pulled up and went inside. Jake was on the livingroom floor playing with Aubree.
"Hi, guys." She said plopping down on the couch.
"Long day?" Jake asked.
"You wouldn't believe." She told him. "It was crazy there today. I went to the doctor during my lunch break today.
"What's wrong?" Jake asked looking up at his wife.
"I'm pregnant." She told him with a smile.
"Really?" He asked getting up.
She just nodded.
"That's great!" Jake said pulling her up off the couch and kissing her. "I'm calling everyone!"
He went into the kitchen to get her phone and Mac giggled.
She never imagined that a year after coming back that her and Jake would be married and she never imagined being pregnant with their second child.
She had everything she had always wanted with him. She now had what she wanted and what she needed.
The End.
