Helena stumbled blindly along the sidewalk of some unnamed street, She had lost sense of time and wast oblivious to what surrounded her. It was raining, but It was an unusually warm night. Her wet clothes clung tightly to her body, her hair surrounded her face in wet strings. The thin sickly glow of the street lamps guiding her to parts unknown. Every water-soaked step, and gust of mournful wind were the only things se felt as she trudged on.
She was tired, but she didn't care, she just followed the road.
The hateful voice in her head had quieted giving way to the destitute abyss that was her mind. The place she'd come to fear the most, flashes of distant memories enveloped her thoughts making her grief grow.
As she was walking by the gate of what looked to be a park something caught her eye.
There stood, what looked to be an old willow tree leaning mournfully against a stream bank, Its tortured boughs twisting into the dark sky. It's sad leaves hung around the tree in a thick shroud shielding the trunk from view. A large branch had fallen on one part of the tree leaving a gap in the hanging leaves.
Helena didn't like the look of the willow, something told her it was better left alone, despite her mind screaming at her to walk away she found herself being drawn towards the dark gap in the leaves.
As she passed through the opening she felt a chill slither through her, something was wrong here but she couldn't leave. A gust of wind made the tormented willow creak and moan, Helena could've sworn she heard it sob.
It was pitch dark inside the willow Helena had no idea what she was looking at, as her eyes adjusted she saw shiny streaks of light further in. As she walked deeper into the tree she felt like something was watching her.
Helena reached outwards as the approached the source of light, What she felt was sticky and warm, looking at her hands she saw dark splotches against the pale skin of her hands. She tried to wipe her hands on her pants but the warm substance wouldn't come off. Helena cursed and tried to wipe them on the ground to no avail. Helena couldn't say why but she needed to get whatever was on her hands off immediately. Rubbing her palms furiously against her jeans she screamed in fear and frustration at the warm substance that covered her hands. She quickly looked at her hands and saw to her horror that the ooze was spreading slowly over her hands. In panic she began to scratch at her hands, desperate to get the ooze off. Through her hysterics she didn't notice the blood flowing from the ragged cuts her fingers were making into her palms.
Helena was too distracted by her hands to hear the low dark chuckling coming from within her head. She stopped scratching as she became increasingly aware of the laughter that was in her head, or was it around her?
"You will never wash your hands of your sins. You'll bathe in them."
Helena froze as she heard the deep tearing voice, then she felt something drip on her head, then her shoulder, then the tip of her noseā¦
She slowly looked up and peered into the blackness above her, more wetness dripping onto her face.
Helena began to back away towards the entrance, she began to hear a shrill ringing in her ears she felt something brush over her shoulder, and she froze.
She turned slowly, for a moment everything was completely silent.
Suddenly a noise louder than anything shed ever heard before filled her ears, and she found herself staring face to face with the corpse of her sister.
Helena's mouth opened in a noiseless scream, outside lightning flashed briefly illuminating the enclosure, the dead faces of everyone she'd known stared back at her with glazed dead eyes.
Helena stumbled backwards and backed into something, she quickly turned around and looked up into Leon's dead eyes. all the while the noise just got louder and louder, and somewhere deep within her mind that thin oily voice said three words.
"Now you're alone."
Helena screamed in horror unable to shut her eyes or look at anything she looked up only to find more corpses hanging above her, filling her with terror. The lightning flashed over and over again, almost to the point where it strobed. Turning back around she saw Deborah corpse except now it was next to Leon's. Without moving any other part of her body Deborah's arms stretched out as if to hug her. and all the hundreds of bodies around her said at the same time.
"YOU'RE OURS NOW!"
Blackness enveloped her.
