Joker had known where they were for a long time. It was a warehouse on the western side, newly built for them and their business. Rex kicked the door in and put headphones on his head. He turned on his mp3 player and as their thugs swarmed, he charged. I followed in his wake. Harley was giggling as she bashed their faces in, and the Joker was practicing knife-throwing. Ivy and her plants were enjoying breaking the warehouse itself, letting sunlight in.

There were broken bodies everywhere. Joker was laughing about his hostile takeover and Harley was proclaiming revenge for her baby. Ivy was shaking her head. Rex was lost to the world.

It was amazing to watch them fall before my family. To be honest, I never really considered what they were capable of. Or what they would do for me if I was in trouble.

Rex jogged up to me. "I'm gonna throw you."

"What?" I took a step back.

"They're up in the rafters and they burned the ladder. I'm gonna throw you and then climb up after you on the wall." He pointed.

I couldn't say anything. He had already grabbed me by my belt and was spinning. Then I was flying. I landed on a cement floor in front of Scarecrow.

He was sitting, nursing a wound, probably the one brought on by the knife I had chucked at him the day before.

I stood and looked back. Rex was starting toward the wall he claimed he was going to climb to get to me. Killer Croc and Baby Doll were already on their feet and watching me carefully.

There was a poking feeling on my stomach. I looked down and saw that bullets were ricocheting off of my belly and I laughed at Baby Doll. Her face turned red with anger.

"Pretty little actress." I started towards her, stepping over Scarecrow. "Wanna see what your insides look like? I bet you're not fuckin' pretty on the inside."

I picked her up by the hair and she continued to try to shoot me with her doll-gun until she ran out of bullets. She was screaming and kicking.

Somehow, I expected more from her. She was a beautiful actress who had been working beyond her genetic disorder. Now she was in trouble for playing around with criminals and freaks.

A green missile slammed into me and I dropped her. Croc was having none of it. His teeth were grazing my skin but doing nothing. When I bit back, I pulled off a layer of his green, hard skin. I fought dirty, I clawed and kicked and rolled. After a moment, there was another round of pokes from a reloaded gun, and even one attempt made by Scarecrow to get a needle in my skin. It broke the needle in two.

I don't remember if Rex ever actually made it up to me. Killer Croc was bleeding. Cool for him, he was human on the inside even if his exterior suggested otherwise. He even had normal-human ribs.

I giggled. "Never smile at a croc-o-dile! Never dip your hat and stop to talk awhile!" I sang at the top of my lungs as he struggled to get up. "Never run, walk away, say good-night, not good-day! Clear the aisle but never smile at Mister Croc-o-dile!"

He growled.

"Thanks again for the cookies, Croc!" I laughed as he tried to attack me again. He was too tired from blood loss to even move me. It was a weak, sad strike. I frowned. "That was pathetic. Hit me."

I leaned in and showed him my jaw. I slapped it a few times.

"Right there. Hit me."

His face lunged at mine. His teeth tried to tear into my skin. I frowned further. I slapped him, knocking him to the cement.

"Mister Croc, I am not that kind of girl!" I scolded him and kicked him into some chairs. "Learn some manners!"

Killer Croc was silent. Oops. I poked him with my shoe.

"I think he's dead." I pursed my lips.

Rex walked up behind me. "And you said you hate fighting."

"He started it!" I pointed at Croc, giggling again.

"There's my baby girl!" Harley ran toward me. I didn't even question how she got up to us. She threw herself at me and hugged me. "Ew, you're covered in yuck! You need ta take you a bath when we get home young lady!"

I smiled. "Yes mom."

"Are you alright?" Ivy rushed to me. She had been lifted up by one of her tall plants.

"Of course she's alright!" Rex rolled his eyes. Then he re-evaluated the situation and looked at me. "You are alright, right?"

"Why wouldn't I be?" I was just smiling. I felt deeply satisfied.

"Atta girl!" Joker cheered from below, too lazy to climb up to us.

We all rode down on one of Aunt Ivy's plants. They now had a lovely, sunny place to grow.

There were sirens. My smile turned into a frown.

"Time to go!" Joker cheered, tossing something onto the ground as he ran out the door.

Harley picked up Ivy and ran after, giggling.

"Rex?" I looked up at him.

He looked at me. "Aren't you gonna run? I wanna visit Grundy."

"Shit!" I took off. He wasn't running, he was being stupid!

I made it out the door before a rope wrapped around me and I stopped in my tracks.
