Eren Jaeger had never thought he'd find his soulmate. All his life he figured he didn't have one. Since the day he was born til now he's had marks appear, but just dismissed them as "something he probably did unknowingly". He never gave second thought because there wasn't anything that showed up that screamed to him "someone else did this".

They started showing up, and going unnoticed, in the 6th grade. He was pretty active with his friends at the time so bruises on his arms just didn't faze him. He did find it a little odd that they were little buises scatterd across both his arms, but simply dismissed it as his own doing.

In the 7th grade the black and blue sploches started showing up more, but Eren never really gave them mind. He just stopped paying attention to his arms after a while. And those marks went completely unaknowledged again. He figured, when he did know of their existance, that it was just from Gym Class.

Eren just kept assuming, because unless there's writing that he didn't do, there's no way he has a soulmate. For all he knows he could've gotten himself all bruised up, and he just didn't want to get his hopes up for a potential lover.

The green eyed boy made it to the 8th grade, and school got harder as life got extremely hectic and stressful. Eren didn't have time to look over his body and take notes of the differences. But those very few times when he had time, he noticed the dark marks multiplied and had made it's way to his ancles.

Again, Eren dismissed it as a result of his life suddenly becoming insane. He was constantly busy and in a hurry, that he had become somewhat of a clutz, and just dismissed those many splatters as his "clumsiness".

He was now in the 10th grade and still dismissed them. In fact he stopped really paying any thought to them after a while. Midterms were coming up and those were the most important.

"6:57 A.M." the alarm clock read as it was placed neatly on a beautiful, but messy, chessnut brown wooden desk. Next to it was a single bed with black wrinkley sheets. Eren turned over to get more comfortable. He just wanted "5 more minutes of rest", the lie most people tell themselves. He was very aware of the time, but just didn't care enough, and drifted back to sleep. "6:58 A.M." the digital alarm practically shouted back at his back in a "It's almost 7 just get up already" kind of way.

Eren, again tossed to the other side of his bed so he was laying halfly on his stomach and halfly on his side, of course away from the clock. He was up all night studying and working on his latest project. Up til 4:15, he did not want to get up just yet. "6:59 A.M." said the everloving killjoy known as the clock. Eren simply snored faintly in response. He was exhausted, there's no way he's opening his eyes now. In fact screw the clock he's tired, getting up now would only make him unhappy and groan in annoyance.

"BRNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG"

"AH, WHAT THE FUCK!?" Eren shouted as he rolled off his bed.

He groaned quietly to himself, and brushed his temple, that he hit on the way down against his wooden bed frame. Eren pulled himself up groggily and sat on the edge of the bed, while his alarm of death whaled a long and loud "WAKE UP" for all to hear. Eren begrudgingly smacked the stop button on top of the contraption from hell, and looked at the time.

"Seven...Great," he sarcastically stated to himself as he got off his bed and limped tiredly towards his closet.

Eren opened the closet door a little viciously and glanced at his clothing. His style was pretty layed back and simple, he didn't really care what he wore each day, but he still liked to look at least presentable. He grabbed all the selected clothes, a pair of high tops, and his sweatshirt, and headed for his bed.

He eyed the clock "7:03" he's gotta hurry up, so he can leave by 7:20, being late is at 7:30. The last thing he needs is to get a detention for being late a second time this quarter. His mom would absolutely flip out if she found out he got a detention, and he didn't really want to begin another fight with her after last night, so he has to hurry up.

Eren quickly threw on his black Scout Regiment Shirt and blue jeans. He loved that band, they weren't known too well but they had amazing music. He then laced up his black high tops and fast walked to the bathroom.

When he opened the door his mom shouted something incoherently, but he wasn't listening, because it was already 7:10. Grabbing his toothbrush he quickly squirted toothpaste on it's bristles and began brushing his teeth. He wondered what his mom had said, but quickly shook all distracting thoughts away. He had to get ready and be at school in time to drop off his canvas in the art room, because he didn't have time to stop at his locker, and there was no way he'd be able to lug that huge thing around the school til 4th period. The whole idea just sounded so exhausting.

Rinsing his toothbrush and putting it away he turned off the faucet and realized his mother was still calling for him...and she sounded pretty mad. Eren opened the door slowly walked out and-

"Eren Jaeger it is 7:15! I have been asking you what you wanted for breakfast for the past 5 minutes! You're going to be late, hurry up there's two pieces of toast and a banana waiting for you on the table! I've got to go to work, do not be late for school! Got it!?"

"Um y-yes mom!" Eren stuttered a little terrified not wanting to make her mad again.

Eren then hustled to his room and threw all his folders in his backpack, tossing it on his back. Zipped the bag up he grabbed his canvas and his phone. Then walked over to the table and put his "breakfast" in his backpack, he'd have to eat it during study hall. It wasn't so bad though, his study hall was in the morning so all would work out. Eren then charged for the door and took a look at the time on his phone.

"7:16, shit I have 4 minutes to get there on time."

He grazed over the fluffy white snow that graced the ground and wrinkled his nose. It was cold. He realized pulling his coat's opening closer together. He raced down a couple blocks passing some bus stops and kids walking as cars zoomed by. He stopped walking right in front of the crosswalk to the school. Zero cars stopped for him, and he for sure did not want to get hit by a car so he waited patiently and looked at his phone.

"7:20, ah man I won't have time, I'm gonna be late."

"It's okay you're not late til 7:30." Croaked a small timid voice.

It was so quiet Eren almost had to strain his ears to hear what the girl had said. He turned around slowly, but not too slow, and glanced at the girl. She had a big black coat on with a red scarf covering half her face; over her noes. Eren grew confused; did he know her? Was he supposed to? Who is she?

The girl shuffled uncomfortably and looked to the left side. She was clearly blushing at the attention or was it the cold? Eren would never know. He felt the need to respond before this got even more akward. He shut his eye lids and sighed tiredly. He stepped closer and showed the girl his canvas.

"Thank you, but I have to take this to the art room and make sure I make it across the school to my 1st period class." He said as he finally opened his eyes to see the girl.

Her eyes widened a little bit in understanding and she looked him straight in the eyes. Her black hair being taken by the wind as she imediately shut her eyes tight from the breezy air. Eren felt bad her hair was all over the place and that she was freezing. The wind then stopped and she fixed her hair and looked at him again, this time looking embarassed.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know you had a canvas, but look the cars stopped for us." She silently stated almost like she just wanted to mumble it to herself.

Eren turned around quickly eyes widening. He could go! And just like that he darted across the street. By that time it was 7:23. Eren was about to head for the school when he realized he forgot to aknowledge the girl. She was trying to help, feeling guilty Eren turned around and looked at her crossing the street slowly and quietly.

"It's okay, I didn't mean to leave you there, you did nothing wrong, thank you!" He shouted as he darted for the entrance of the school.

When Eren made it into the school it was 7:27. He had 3 and a half minutes to drop off his canvas and get to 1st period. Needless to say he was turning his head 180 degrees. Charging down the hallway fast as light he bumped into someone. Both falling over and groaning in pain.

"Ah...hey I'm sor-Ugh Jean!" Eren quickly retracted his apolagetic statement and proceeded to give Jean a disgusted face.

"Ugh Jaeger, watch where you're going!" said the adult looking boy in disgust.

"Me!? You! You watch where you're going!"

"BRNGGGGGGGGGG!"

Uh-oh! Dammit that's the bell! Eren then screamed internally. He smacked Jean and ran off as he did he had some intresting words to say.

"I'll deal with you later horseface, I'm gonna be late! Oh and..Piss off!" Eren shouted as he sped through the long hallway.

"Jaeger when I get my hands on you I swear I'll-"

"You'll what?"

Suddenly Jean heard a voice behind him. He turned around slowly and gulped big. Right behind him was the principal, Erwin Smith. Mr. Smith glared at him with narrow eyes and authority. He was very intimidating. No one dared to mess with him, no one. Jean started to sweat a little and grew horrified at the newfound situation. Fuckin Jeager, this is all his fault! If only I could get my hands on him right now!

"Well, Mr. Kirstein. I don't need to give you a detention or call your mother do I?" Mr. Smith said as he walked towards Jean intimidatingly. Just inches away from eachother, Jean backed up reflexively and croaked out an answer.

"N-no sir! I swear I'll be g-good."

"Good Mr. Kirstein, study hard."

Mr. Smith said what he had to and was on his way. Jean looked away and cursed to himself. Screw you Jaeger. When I find you, you're dead. Jean simply turned around and headed for class. At least I won't be late for Ms. Ral's class.

"Haha..." Jean chuckled almost viciously to himself and headed upstairs.

Zoom! Eren ran down the hallway heading for the Art Room. Shit! He glanced at the clock hanging over the Performing Arts Center entrance. There's all the music rooms...choir...orchestra...ba-

"Ah-oof!" Eren ran into another individual and fell over again.

Eren rubbed his temple soothingly. And opened his eyes to find that he ran into a short blonde, he'd never seen before. Wait, I've never seen this girl before in my life. Who is she? The girl in question had golden blonde shoulder length hair and ocean blue eyes. She glanced at who she had run into and gasped.

"I'm very sorry! I didn't mean to run into you!" The girl exclaimed worriedly.

"It's okay, really! I'm the one in a hurry!" Eren assured, panting from his loss of breath.

He stood up heaving loudly and outstreched his hand to the girl. The girl looked up and smiled brightly at his generous offer. Eren may have been an real jerk sometimes to people that got his goat, but he was still as kind as the next person on the street. The girl took his hand, and he brought her up. Whew that was easy, she's light! Eren then glanced at her up and down and took good note of her height. She was a small thing. He suddenly felt more guilty for ramming into her head first.

"Thank you." The girl answered sweetly with a smile.

Eren smiled and waved in a "no problem" kind of motion. He then checked his phone and almost tripped over nothing. 7:29...7:29...7:29! Eren ghosted over his phone horrified. He began charging down the hallway faster than lightning whilst sweating and internally screaming. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck! Eren thought, kicking himself in the ass over and over again.

"Yes, there it is finally!" Eren shouted as he turned the corner straight into the art room.

Crash! Eren threw his canvas into his cubby and darted out the room. Eren held his breath looking at a clock nearby. 30 fucking seconds! He ran right up the insanely long staircase. What the hell, I don't remember the staircase being this long! He had always really known, but just never paid it any thought. Probably because he's been early many times before to really notice.

Running down the hallway to get to class in 30 seconds-well more like 20 seconds now-before the bell rings is really stressful. Eren chuckled to himself. Ah, I can already see the detention coming. He thought illy.

"There it is!" He croaked loudly.

Eren charged straight for the door, the classroom so close in sight. C'mon please let me get there on time! Boom! Eren pushed the door open so hard and fast the back hit the wall. Panting heavily realizing he just had to get to his chair he sighed in relief. He sped towards his chair and practically body flopped on it, and there it was.

"BRNGGGGGGGGGG!" The bell screached loudly.

Eren just sat there breathing trying to pull his soul back in his body. I made it. I actually fucking made it. He placed his head gently on his desk, resting a little, while he slowly began to regain his breath.

There was a sudden tap on his shoulder from behind. Eren lifted his head slowly still panting faintly and turned around, face red and drained. Behind him sat his best friend, Armin. If he needed answers, Armin was the person to turn towards. He had short chin length light blonde hair with big deep sky blue eyes that were now glittered with worry as of this moment.

"Hey Eren, are you alright? You ran in here pretty fast." Armin inquired with nervousness.

"I'm alright," he paused and panted a couple times before continuing.

"Just running late is all."

"Oh why were yo-"

The blonde boy was suddenly cut off and startled by the door slamming shut. The class went quiet and eyed the teacher. Everyone either too shocked or worried to respond. Walking in was a white haired woman with a resting bitch look on her face. The students gulped in anticipation, wondering what was to be said next. The woman skimmed around the room slowly. Then she began moving towards one student in the front that was extremely unaware of what was happening.

Slam!

"Ahhh, what!?" Exclaimed the girl in the front desk.

The unknown woman had slammed her hands on the desk and gotten undesirably close to the girl's face. The girl gulped strongly and moved back slowly.

"What is your name, miss?"

"M-my n-name?"

"Yes, your name. You do have one don't you." The lady questioned rhetorically.

"S-Sasha Braus."

"Hm. Ms. Braus, if you don't mind me asking, why are you eating pringles in this classroom." The woman questioned demandingly.

Sasha was quiet and filled with tripidation at the newfound situation. She put the box of pringles down and looked at the woman anxiously.

"M-Ms. Ral lets us eat in here." Sasha sputtered out almost quietly.

The woman nodded and walked to the front of the room. She stood in front of the monitor and took a look around the room. All eyes were on her, and her eyes drove wholes into their bodies. She finally looked back at Sasha and had something to say to the food loving girl.

"As long as I sub in this class; there will be no eating. Put. It. Away." She stated angrily glaring at the poor girl.

Sasha nodded furiously and pushed her pringles into her backpack. While everyone fell silent. Ms. Ral was never out. Never. That thought ran through many brains until the woman spoke again, cutting off their thoughts.

"Alright class, I am Ms. Bersenska, but you can call me "Ms. B" if you desire."

It was pretty clear she hated the name "Ms. B". This "sub" was nothing short from intimidating. Jean darkned and shut his mouth tight she reminded him of another very intimidating teacher. Everyone else who had him was thinking the exact same thing. The similarities were insane, except for the fact that Ms. Bersenska doesn't yell or insult the students.

"Now if all of you are done conversing it is time to turn to page 384 in your Literature Textbooks and read the short story on glaciers. After you are finished you will answer all of the questions. And absolutley no talking. Do I make myself clear?"

Everyone just nodded and threw a couple "yes m'ams" or "yes" across the classroom. Everyone was tense after that. She meant buisness, and no one wanted to mess with her. She was clearly in a horrible mood and no one wanted to worsen it or get involved.

They all just got straight to reading silently. The people in the back were lucky. They could pass notes or whisper, but they had to be cunning about it all or it was getting caught by Ms. Bersenska. And after that little entrance she made a couple minutes ago, no one wanted to.

Armin tapped Eren's shoulder again to get his attention. Thankfully they were in the very back, and there were 37 students in the class. Not like Ms. Bersenska can keep track of all of them. Eren turned his head slightly just enough to figure out what Armin was doing.

Wrapping a piece of paper up, Eren got the memo to put his hand back. Right in that moment Armin had dropped a neatly folded note in Eren's hand. Curious, he unfolded it quietly as to not disturb Ms. Bersenska, and read it's contents.

"Why were you late?" The note had read. Eren sighed exhausted, thinking about his morning. Before he was about to write the explanation; a hand had snached his paper. Uh-oh. Eren thought anxiously. Standing to the right of him was Ms. Bersenska, who held an annoyed glare in her eyes.

"Ahem. When I said, "No talking," that also meant no passing notes with your friends." Ms. Bersenska stated authoritarily.

Eren mentally kicked himself. Where the hell did she even come from!? He was stupid to think that he could get passed this insane sub, who just minutes before had passed threats and was layered with "I hate mondays"writen all over her face. As he got lost in thought he had almost forgotten that Ms. Bersenska was there and she looked pretty darn mad for not hearing any response leave his lips.

"Am I clear with myself," she paused and looked at the seating chart on the clipboard she was holding. Then she continued bitterly spitting venom at him with every word, "Mr. Jaeger, or do you want a detention?"

"N-no m'am!" Eren managed to croak out fearfully at how his mother would react.

She'd. Be. Pissed. He thought scaredly and went straight to reading as Ms. Bersenska took her leave.

After class was over Eren headed for the door with Armin. They had known eachother since they were children, and have been best friends ever since. Armin looked at Eren curiously in a "dude, tell me what happened" kind of look. Catching on Eren decided to explain his insane morning.

"That sounds hectic." Armin stated sympathetically.

"It was." Eren groaned out just thinking about the whole event.

"Well Eren I have to head to Calculus, see ya later." Armin waved to his friend; alerting him of his departure.

"Alright, I'll see you later, Mr. Intelligent." Eren joked waving back to Armin.

As they were about to make their seperate ways; Armin turned back to Eren and yelled for him to come back.

"Wait!"

Eren walked back fast worried he'd be late for his next class.

"What's wrong?"

"Meet me after school so we can study for midterms next week."

"Oh shit! I totally forgot about the midterms!"

"This is why you have me."

"No kidding, I'll see you after school Armin."

"You too."

From then on they were on their way, and last period came quicker than expected. Needless to say Eren was exhausted. He had just finished his Spanish test and just wanted to sleep for hours.

"Jeez who knew honors spanish would be this difficult." Eren mumbled quietly as he made his way to the entrance of the school to meet Armin.

As he made his way over he saw Armin talking to a black haired girl. She was wearing a sweatshirt and many other layers of clothing with a vibrant rose red scarf. Eren stood back and chuckled a little. Seems Armin found a girl! He thought to himself. He could only make out a couple words, and knew he'd have to ask Armin about this later.

"See you tomorrow after school then?"

"Yeah, see ya tomorrow."

The girl then walked away without another word as Eren waltzed his way up to Armin.

"Who's the pretty girl?"

Armin choked on the water he was just drinking clearly startled.

"Jesus, Eren, please don't scare me like that!" Armin exclaimed still freightened.

"Sorry, but who's the girl? She your soulmate?" Eren inquired curiously.

"Huh? Oh you think!?" Armin freaked out.

"Well?" Eren pushed.

"To answer your question, Eren, no she is not my soulmate."

"Then why are you meeting tomorrow?"

"Cause we're partners for a project in Astronomy."

"Oh! Sorry bro. I thought you had found her already."

"Nah, I would be dating her right now, ya know what I mean?"

Eren thought for a second before answering.

"Yeah, guess you're right. I'm still waiting to even see evidence of my soulmate. But I still wouldn't date anyone til I "find" them."

"I don't think anyone would even dare to."

They began walking to the library, but continued talking.

"You'd have to be heartless to date someone that's not your soulmate; I mean I can see why, if we never had evidence."

Eren paused for a short second thinking about how hard it must be to not know who your soulmate is, and not having any evidence to back it up. He then continued.

"But we do. We can see whatever our soulmate puts on their body on us." Eren said matter of factly.

"Also what do you mean, by "I'm still waiting to see evidence"?" Armin questioned actually curious.

"Well I haven't seen anything on my body that I didn't put there. Not even a note about groceries or obscure comments or drawings."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah, to be honest at this point I don't think I have a soulmate."

"What!? Eren, everyone has a soulmate!" Armin stated shocked.

"I don't think so Armin, starting to lose hope."

"Don't do that. I'm sure she's out there somewhere and probably doesn't want to give clues about her whereabouts."

"Armin, I hope you're right."

After about 30 minutes of walking in the cold tundra; they arrived at Armin's house. They walked to his room and imediately discussed the midterms.

"Okay, Eren which subject do you want to start with?"

Eren thought about this for a minute before giving his response. The only class he was struggling in was Biology; other than that he was acing all his other classes.

"I guess we could start with Bio; which class are you struggling with."

Armin sighed to his artistic friend and just wished he had the talent Eren posessed. He struggled in Art. He was intelligent, but clearly wasn't talented in the artistic field.

"I wish I had your talent dude. I'm struggling in Art."

"Well perfect! I mean; not that you're not good at Art; just that I can help you."

After that they got right to work on whatever they needed to. Eren was confused here and there, but thankfully Armin was there to help. And thanks to Eren, Armin was doing well with his Art Project for the midterms. They luckily had a mutual conversion.

After about an hour of working on homework and studying; Eren decided he had to be on his way. He wanted to get home before 6 or his mother would be scared and angry about his absence.

"I'll see you tomorrow Armin, and we can study wednesday, right?" Eren asked for confirmation.

"Yeah, cause I have to work on my project with Mikasa tomorrow."

"Alright then see ya wednesday dude."

"See ya."

After exchanging their goodbyes; Eren left Armin's and headed home. Thanks to the weather he was freezing and just wanted to get home fast. As he made his way to the park by his house; he saw a girl freezing and getting attacked by the wind. She didn't have a coat or anything; just a sweatshirt and a bright red scarf.

Eren felt pity for the girl and walked towards her. He had an extra coat in his backpack and hopefully he could give it to her.

"Hey, are you okay?!" Eren shouted to get her attention.

"Y-y-ye-eah!" The girl shivered in response.

Eren ran to the girl freezing in place, and pulled his backpack off. He motioned her to wait a second, and she did. Eren then pulled out a big black winter coat out of his bag and handed it to her.

"Here you can have it-wait you're Mikasa, right?" Eren asked realizing exactly who she was.

The coal eyed girl took the coat and wraped it around herself before responding.

"Y-yeah, how did you-" before she could finish Eren interupted her.

"Armin told me a little bit about you."

"Oh."

"Wait a minute." Eren stated realizing something.

"What?" Mikasa replied curiously.

"When I saw you this morning you had a coat; what happened to it?" Eren asked confused.

"Oh yeah, Sorry you had to give me your coat. I gave it to my friend, Sasha, because she forgot hers at home." Mikasa said quietly.

Eren almost had to ask what she said again. She's so quiet. Eren thought to himself. She has been the whole conversation. I wonder why? Shy maybe?

"Well you can keep it, so don't worry about returning it." Eren offered generously.

"Oh, I can't do that, this is your's I can't possibly-"

"It's okay, really!" Eren said interputing her again.

"Thank you..."

"No problem, see ya around Mikasa."

"Bye."

Eren exchanged his goodbye and made his way to his house down the street. Jeez the wind is picking up now...I don't know if we're going to have school tomorrow. It has to be at least in the negatives.

Making his way to his front door; he pulled his key out from his coat pocket. He unlocked the door and walked in closing and locking the door behind him. He made his way to his room and threw his backpack near his closet. He then grabbed his guitar case by his bed. He figured he'd play for a bit to sooth his anxiety over the midterms. He just wanted to relax.

He layed down in his bean bag that was in the corner of his room across from his bed, and began playing the song Shelter by Porter Robinson. He loved the song so much he memorized it without sheet music! He even sings the song, and Eren doesn't really like to sing, but he loved this song too much not to.

"It's been a long way forward..." he sang playing a couple more cords.

"So trust in me..."

"I'll give them shelter like you've done for me..."

He was relaxed and enjoying himself; until he noticed something obscure.

"And I know, I know, I-Ahhhh!" He screeched like a banchee.

"W-what the fuck!?" Eren screamed to himself confused.

Across his left arm big long red streaks started to appear. They didn't hurt, but Eren knew. Oh he knew that those weren't just marks; they were cuts. And by the looks of it they were done intentionally. 2 lines were made on his left arm, and then they stopped. He then looked at his right arm, and there they were. 2 new lines had appeared before he saw a 3rd one being drawn. After that it all stopped.

Eren stood there looking at his arms taking in this information. How? I didn't...I would never... He thought disbelievingly to himself before he realized. It was his soulmate. And once that had hit him; his heart fell to the pit of his stomach. I have a soulmate...I have a soulmate...And my soulmate is cutting herself... Eren had never felt so hopeless thinking about the situation.

He then dawned on the facts in front of him. She's struggling, and there's nothing I can do... Eren just wanted to cry at the thought. It pained him. He may not know her yet, but knowing she would be his world one day ate away at his insides.

"Th-there has to be something I can do about this..." he said slowly freaking out.

"There has to be something I can do, right?"

Just then Eren heard the front door open, and his mother call for him. Shit! If she sees this she'll think I did it! I have to hide it somehow! He worriedly thought. He had to think of something fast. He then looked at the blue hoodie lying on his bed. Perfect! I'll just wear that for a while. Eren threw on his sweatshirt and went to see what his mother wanted. This was going to be an intresting year. Eren thought half joking half scared.
