It was a unusual day when Mirabel and Antonio agreed to help Mirabel's mother to get some apples, sugar, and carrots since she ran out in the kitchen and needed them in order to keep the villagers healthy.

However, than same day, these would turn a bit...different.

"What do you think of this one?" Antonio said excitedly, holding a shiny, red apple.

Mirabel smiled at her youngest cousin. They were closer to each other than any other of their cousins were, and she was glad he had the most amazing kid in the world almost always following her.

"It's perfect." She said, smiling. She then added the answer by tickling Antonio in his stomach. "And sweet, and extrodinary as a certain boy I know," she then put one of her hands in her chin, pretending to think, "although, who could that be?"

Antonio laughed. "It's me! It's me!"

Mirabel grinned. "That's right!" She then grabbed the apple, put it in a bag, and carried Antonio on her back to give him a piggyback ride on the way back home.

"Next time we come, I'll have to get some meat." Antonio remarked. "The mice are complaining that the raccoons are stealing their food."

Mirabel sighed. "It isn't nice to steal. I've once heard that it doesn't make you cooler or smarter, it makes you weak."

"Exactly." Antonio agreed. "But who would have the heart to do that?"

"Anna Robbers!"

Mirabel turned around at the voice, making Antonio face her same direction in the process. A red-haired man man waving papers which showed a 5-year-old looking girl with red hair and a...mustache???

"Anna Robbers!" He repeated again. "Fugitive criminal. See her, call the police!"

"Oh dear..." Antonio murmured.

"Let's...get out of here." Mirabel said. Everytime bad news came to town, the Madrigals knew people would immediately beg them to fix the situation even though their powers were used for helping, not fighting crime. If the man saw them right now...

Mirabel quietly moved away. However, as if luck decided to leave to Away, the man saw her and ran up to her.

"Señora Madrigal! Señora Madrigal!"

Knowing there was no turning back, Mirabel sighed and steadied the pace. "Morning, Señor Chanzes."

"Listen," Chanzes begged "this girl here," he gave Mirabel one of his papers, "is no good. Theories suggest she's in Encanto somewhere, I was hoping you could-"

"The girl with a mustache?" Mirabel said. "Señor, I don't think that's possible."

"It's true." He ressured her, "i'm sure with that powerful family you got, you could find her in no time." He then headed back to his stand where his papers where were placed.

Mirabel sighed as she put the photo of the criminal in her bag that she always, almost carried around. "Let's go." She said again.

They were almost home when Mirabel passed by a tree which Antonio took a dry leaf away from a branch, fall was almost here, the first dry leaves were starting to show.

He let go of Mirabel and grabed the leaf by both hands. "Look at you," he said sadly, "not ready to leave the world yet..."

Suddenly, because he was no longer holding Mirabel, he was accidently sent backwards and falled, at the same time though, he thought he heard a girl's voice saying "Watch Out!"

He hit the ground with a hard grunt, then he realized...it was second grunt, and something, or someone, his exact height was on top of him.

"Huh?" Opening his eyes, he wasn't prepared when a girl with black hair and shiny, blue eyes was right above him.

"You can go away now." The girl said.

Antonio blinked. "But you're above me."

"Katie!" A man's voice suddenly sounded, with the assistantance of a man, the girl managed to carefully get back up.

"Antonio!" Mirabel also carefully removed the second fallen kid from the ground and shook dirt from his shirt. "How many times do I have to tell you? Grab on when I give you a ride, or you won't be the only one who will get a broken leg."

She then turned to the black-haired man. "I'm so sorry, Mr?"

"Nickel." The man introduced himself, shaking Mirabel's arm, then stop as he saw her expression. "Wait are you...one of the famous Madrigals?"

Mirabel smiled proudly. "Mirabel Valentina Rojas Madrigal at your service. Wait a minute..." she gasped, "Nickel you said? As in The Nickel? The famous detective?"

"Yep." The Mr. Nickel said with a smile, then sighed and picked up the girl who Mirabel guessed was his daughter. "We had to leave town early at dawn this morning, gotta solve the case of that girl called Anna Robbers." He looked at his daughter. "But first I gotta find a sitter for my princess, I just don't know where to find one, even if it's in a small village as this."

Mirabel hold back a gasp of excitement as she responded to Nickel. "Oh, I have a cousin who can shapeshift into literally anything and anyone, he babysits." She then glanced and smiled at the girl. "But I can tell this won't be a handfull, I can take care of her for as much time as you like, if you don't mind that is."

Nickel smiled. "Will you? I heard you solved a case not to long ago in the Newspaper, and maybe I'll let you help me in some stuff if everything goes fine. See, my daughter is a sweetheart, but hasn't last a day without a cowardly babysitter quitting."

Antonio, who was still looking at Katie, finally looked at her father and nodded. "Yes sir. My cousin here can take care of any kids, good or bad, old or young ones, it won't be a problem."

Mirabel nodded. "How about tomorrow first thing in the morning?"

"Sounds great." The man nodded then headed off. "Look at that, Precious, you're gonna spend your day tomorrow with the famous Madrigals I told you on our way here."

"We should head off." Mirabel said to Antonio and kneeled him in a piggyback ride once again. "This time, try not to fall of, okay Clumsy One?" Antonio giggled and nodded as they headed off.

However, as they did, Mirabel thought she heard a "But daddy, you know how I feel about the Madrigals. I hate them."

Mirabel shook her head and decided it was just the wind disturbing what the girl was actually saying.
