Solatiri entered the throne room seeing Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Eomer looking amongst each other. She was hoping that there would be some good news coming their way for once.
"What is happening in the Houses of Healing?" Aragorn asked.
"I am happy to say Eowyn and Faramir are on the mend", Solatiri smiled. "Both were able to get out of their beds last night and were able to walk."
"Thank the heavens", Eomer sighed in relief.
"What about you?" Solatiri asked. "Any news of the enemy? What of Frodo? Is he close to destroying the Ring?"
"Frodo has passed beyond my sight", Gandalf frowned. "The darkness is deepening."
"If Sauron had the Ring, we would know it", Aragorn pointed out.
"It's only a matter of time. He has suffered a defeat, yes, but behind the walls of Mordor our enemy is regrouping."
"The war is continuing?" Solatiri asked. "I thought this defeat would've ended it all."
"As long as the Ring exists, so does Sauron", Aragorn said.
"Let him stay there", Gimli growled. "Let him rot! Why should we care?"
"Because 10,000 Orcs now stand between Frodo and Mount Doom", Gandalf said sighing and shaking his head. "I've sent him to his death."
"No", Aragorn said. "There is still hope for Frodo. He needs time and safe passage across the plains of Gorgoroth. We can give him that."
"How?" Gimli asked.
"Draw out Sauron's armies", he answered. "Empty his lands. Then we gather our full strength and march on the Black Gate."
"Meet him head on?" Solatiri asked.
"We cannot achieve victory through strength of arms", Eomer said.
"Not for ourselves. But we can give Frodo his chance if we keep Sauron's eye fixed upon us. Keep him blind to all else that moves."
"A diversion", Legolas smiling as he understood.
"Certainty of death", Gimli said. "Small chance of success, what are we waiting for?"
"Sauron will suspect a trap", Gandalf pointed out. "He will not take the bait."
"Oh, I think he will", Aragorn said. "Will you wish us luck, Solatiri?"
She nodded and bowed to them.
"I wish you luck in your battle. May you be successful and return safe."
Solatiri turned and headed back to the Houses of the Healing. She was surprised to see Faramir outside, up and walking. She rushed to his side.
"Faramir", Solatiri said with a smile. "Are you well enough to be out here?"
"I feel perfectly fine", he answered. "Thank you for taking care of me."
"It wasn't just me", she shook her head. "Surely you've heard that Aragorn, our king has returned. He's the one who helped bring you back to health."
"I've heard."
Faramir looked out to see Eowyn standing on the balcony looking over the city.
"Do you know who she is?" he asked.
"That is Eowyn, the Lady of Rohan", Solatiri said. "She's a shield maiden, the niece of Theoden."
"She is beautiful", Faramir said looking at Eowyn.
Solatiri smiled as she looked at him. Boromir's little brother was falling in love. She hoped Eowyn would return his love. Surely she must know that Aragorn was not the man for her. Solatiri took Faramir's hand and pulled him to Eowyn.
"What are you waiting for?" she asked. "Go talk to her."
She pulled Faramir as she looked at Eowyn. Aragorn and all the soldiers they had that recovered from their battle were now heading to the Black Gate. Eowyn was watching them leave.
"The City has fallen silent", she said. "There is no warmth left in the sun."
Faramir looked at her as he stood beside her.
"It grows cold", she continued.
"It's just the damp of the first spring rain", Faramir said speaking up.
Eowyn softly gasped and turned to look at him. Faramir smiled as he looked into her eyes.
"I do not believe this darkness will endure."
She smiled back as he took her hand in his. Eowyn sighed as she leaned in and rested her head against Faramir's shoulder. Solatiri smiled feeling proud of Faramir. He had finally found someone who could love him.
"Do you see that, Boromir?" she said looking up at the sunlight. "Your brother is in love, just as we were."
Solatiri smiled and turned her attention back to Faramir and Eowyn. She gasped and doubled over as she felt a sharp pain in her belly.
"Faramir…Eowyn…help."
