I don't own Naruto or Mortal Kombat. These franchises belong to their respective owners.
Our favorite red and black clad ninja was resting on the ground after intense training at night. He already got used to sleep surrounded by nature during his training with his master Scorpion in those past 8 years before returning to the Leaf village. When he returned, he was put in a squad with Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. The Uchiha boy happens to be the last one of his kind since his clan was massacred in one night, while this girl Sakura looks like an average girl who is naïve about the dark aspects of the ninja way despite her book smarts.
Just then he heard someone walking with light step towards the sleeping blond masked ninja. That someone was wearing a pink kimono and had a beautiful face and was walking cautiously to not raise suspicions until finally approaching him and just when he was about to perform the finishing move on the blond instead he shakes up lightly to wake him up.
"Hey wake up, you don't want to catch a cold out here," said that person.
Kitsune wakes up from it, and then he watches a young boy around his age but pretty enough to be confused for a girl.
"Ah thanks for waking me up," says Kitsune.
"You must have slept a lot here outside," says the boy.
"Yes I trained a lot last night and slept here outside."
"Due to your uniform you must be training to be a great ninja."
"Yes, you could say that I am."
"But how much are you training because you seem already strong as you are."
"I don't think I am strong enough, I want to be the best ninja this land has ever seen."
"One question is there anyone who is precious to you, anyone," says the beautiful boy.
"A precious person," asked Kitsune.
"You know when a person has something or someone precious they want to protect then is when you can be truly strong."
Kitsune ponders at these words just told and remembers how he was rescued by his master Scorpion (Hanzo Hasahi) and taught him not only about the way of the ninja but also life. In a way Scorpion became a father to him.
"Yes I guess that I know what you mean miss."
"I'm Haku, we'll meet again someday," Haku was now walking and then says something more, "by the way I'm a boy."
Kitsune smacked himself a bit and then says, "Excuse me I guess that you could truly pass as a girl with those looks of yours."
Haku smiled at this compliment and walked away.
(Tazuna's house)
Two of Gato's thugs, Zori and Waraji, were at Tazuna's house at the request of their boss to threaten Tazuna's family in order to stop the bridge builder from finishing his project since Tazuna's bridge is a threat to Gato's business.
Tsunami asks, "What do you two want?
Zori had a calmer and at the same time cruel personality and says, "We're here to kidnap you and make that damn bridge builder to stop constructing his bridge."
Inari was completely scared seeing two of Gato's thugs specially that other one Waraji. Waraji had a crazed and bloodthirsty look on his eyes. Waraji says, "It's been a while since I cut someone to shreds. Hey Zori, you think I can kill this one just for fun." Inari was on the verge of crying you could see tears coming of his eyes pleading 'Please don't kill me. I'm too young to die.'
Zori says, "You really need to calm down your need to cut down everything you see." Waraji responded, "You're no fun Zori. Just one kill besides no one is going to miss that crybaby anyways."
Tsunami then takes matters into her own hands, "I won't let you harm my son. Listen if I go with you, you won't hurt anyone right? It's me that you want after all, right?" Inari was crestfallen at hearing this that his mother was sacrificing herself to protect him.
Zori says, "That's the answer we needed." He then looks at Inari and says in a mocking tone of voice, "You lucked out kid. Thank your mother that she is protecting you." Inari says, "You don't have to do this." Tsunami gives to her son a sad smile, "You don't need to apologize. It's a mother's job to protect her child."
Zori and Waraji take Tsunami as a captive and Inari just stays there crying there, "I'm afraid. If only I had more courage." Then Inari remembered Kitsune's words from last night.
Flashback
'You think that crying will always be the solution to everything. Fight and keep fighting to the very end and if your very best wasn't good enough then you can cry all you want.'
End Flashback
Inari dried his tears and now had a new resolve.
"I won't run away in fear, I'll fight to the end."
(At the incomplete bridge)
Zabuza was back healthy after one week of rest and was battling against Kakashi Hatake, while Haku was battling against Sasuke.
Zabuza and Kakashi were trading blows and seen that even at the Jonin level they were quite formidable opponents.
"You are quite strong Kakashi of the Hidden Leaf, but those Genin brats of yours stand no chance against Haku." Kakashi wonders what he meant about what he said already.
Zabuza continues, "Years ago he was just an orphaned kid that I found on the street. I took him under my wing to give him a purpose as my loyal subordinate. He could even face the most dangerous enemies with no fear at all. His skills might even surpass mine as well."
Flashback (Haku's training)
Haku was targeting by throwing senbon needles with great accuracy. Then in another training session, Zabuza was sparring and Haku deflected his Kubikiribocho with a needle.
In a mission, Haku enters a heavily guarded temple and disables the guards effortlessly.
End flashback
Kakashi says, "Well good for you. Also you and that boy should consider yourselves lucky because normally I don't use this more than once." Kakashi prepared to reveal his implanted Sharingan.
Zabuza laughs at this as if knowing this would happen.
The Kirigakure no Kijin (a) then says, "That's such a laugh. Actually in our last battle Haku was observing your fighting style and just by watching someone fight once he can devise a strategy to counter your Sharingan. You once told that the same trick doesn't work twice and now I'm telling you the same. Prepare for the moment that your Sharingan became useless." Zabuza then puts a hand seal and says, "Ninja Art: Hidden Mist Jutsu!"
Zabuza used one of his village signature jutsu and disappeared thin in the air. Tazuna says, "The visibility is now zero."
(Sasuke vs Haku)
Sasuke was battling Haku in his masked Mist outfit. Sasuke was at first holding his own against the Kiri shinobi, but Haku had advantage due to being more experienced.
The last Uchiha uses his Kunai to attempt get a hit on Haku, but Haku counters with just his senbon needle.
"I admit you're a worthy opponent; others would have trembled in fear of death," Haku says.
"I'm shaking actually of excitement," Sasuke replies.
"Don't let your confidence border on arrogance besides; there are two factors on which I have the advantage. One is that we're surrounded by water, and two I still have a free hand," Haku responds.
Haku starts making hand seals with his free hand, which takes Sasuke and Kakashi by surprise.
"Hand seals with just one hand?"
"To think this boy is already that good to make hand seals with just one hand," thought Kakashi.
Haku already finished and then says, "Secret Jutsu: Thousand Needles of Death." Water sprang from the puddle that surrounded them, and then the water started to form into needles.
Sasuke then remembered his training on focusing his chakra to stop the attack.
(Gato's thugs)
Zori and Waraji left an unconscious Tsunami and now running towards Inari who declared that he was not going to run away anymore and decided to face them head on. Gato's thugs were now going to cut the child with their swords. Then they heard a voice from nearby.
"You know 2 on 1 is kinda unfair and against a child."
Everyone saw the blond masked shinobi now appearing in their way.
"Kid you better stay away and take your mother away."
Inari does not need to be told twice; he just nods and takes away his mother to safety. While now the young blond fights against the two thugs.
"You want to be a hero now ah boy by protecting the crybaby and his mother," says Zori.
Waraji just rants on how much he wants to cut someone with his sword and now he can do it without restraint.
The two thugs were swiftly disarmed thanks to Kitsune's swift unarmed hand to hand fighting style and ended tied to a tree log for the local authorities to take care of those punks.
Inari watched him fight and was amazed on how he defeated two of Gato's thugs like that. The boy walked to the fox masked shinobi and was stuttering slightly only to receive a swift punch to the head courtesy of the savior.
"Oww," whined a bit the kid.
"What you did was brash and dangerous. Still now you have started to take a step forward to becoming a new person. You now have guts Inari," said Kitsune.
Inari's eyes started to water again not out of sadness but happiness. "Oh I swore I wouldn't cry again like this, but I just did it. I guess I am still a crybaby," says Inari.
"It's okay; this time you're now happy. Also you learned the meaning of true strength and courage," says Kitsune.
"I better go. My team must be struggling a lot; you and your mother must return to your home."
Inari and Tsunami, who finally awoke, nodded and followed his advice.
(Back at the bridge)
Haku launched his secret jutsu, and Sasuke remembered his training and dodge Haku's water attack and then attacks Haku knocking him down.
Zabuza was shocked, "There is no way someone can match Haku's speed?"
Kakashi smirks, "It seems that you and your subordinate underestimated Sasuke. He's descendant of the noble Uchiha clan. Sakura is a kunoichi with the brightest mind of this generation, and Kitsune is completely unpredictable."
Haku stands up to his feet and says, "I admit that I took you lightly, and now you left with no choice to use my secret weapon." Haku now forms a hand seal and then says, "Secret Jutsu, Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystals." Haku forms a dome full of ice mirrors around the young Uchiha.
Zabuza says, "Well this is it for one of your kids Kakashi. When Haku uses his best jutsu he's unstoppable."
Kakashi says, "This jutsu can't be copied. Does this mean he has a bloodline?" Zabuza responds, "Haku is one of the few survivors of the feared Yuki clan."
Inside Haku's ice jutsu, Sasuke thinks that this dome could be melted easily with a fire ninjutsu. He forms a few handseals to do the Uchiha clan's signature jutsu. "Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu." The fireball then moved towards the ice dome and it hit its mark. Unfortunately the ice dome was still intact.
"No way"
"My Ice jutsu is strong enough to even resist against this fire attack."
Sasuke tries his best against Haku, but the Yuki shinobi was too fast for him and just transported to another mirror. Haku was taking down Sasuke with his speed and use of his senbon to maintain him in a static position.
Sasuke tried his best in melting the ice again, but just as he was told before the ice mirror crystals was resistant. Then when things started to get harder finally came to the rescue Kitsune.
Still with both of them were struggling against the solitary Kiri ninja.
Until Sasuke and Kitsune noticed that the ice mirrors were still holding as long as Haku holds it. So with an opportune strategy, they worked together and finally knocked Haku and ending his ice mirrors. But before landing to the floor, Haku launched senbon needles directly aimed at Sasuke. Kitsune deflected most of them most, but one got to his leg to nullify his ability to walk. Sasuke passes out to fatigue.
"I would like to know if you're the same person I met on the clearing," says Kitsune.
Haku nods and removes his mask.
Kitsune asks, "Who is the one that you fight for so hard and with such devotion?"
Haku answers, "I fight for Zabuza. He is the one who took me in and molded me into what I am today."
Kitsune replies, "You mean that huge swordsman with the bandages on his mouth. I see, before I decide on ending your life I want you to tell me a story of your life."
Haku says, "I used to have people that loved me. My parents loved me, and I also loved them as well. I was born in the Land of Water. After years of suffering in the country's Civil War, the people in the Land of Water developed a great fear and hatred towards those people with bloodline limits. These are unique abilities that are passed down through the clan. My mother was actually a member of that clan with bloodline limit, but she hid her abilities to not get caught. She met a humble farmer, and the two fell in love. Years later they got married and I eventually was born." Haku then finished his story on how he inherited his mother's ability, and they were caught by the father. The father organized a riot to kill his wife and son; although he loved his family his fear was greater than the love.
Haku in a moment of self-defense killed his father after watching his mother dead. Haku was alone in the street doing what he could to survive in the cold streets, and then he met Zabuza. Zabuza gave him a purpose to live which Haku accepted.
Kitsune says, "I understand. In a way, you're just like me. The pain of being alone and that everyone ignores your complete existence is unbearable. I even thought at once that I couldn't have a true purpose in life until I met my first master." Kitsune told his life of his childhood and then how he met his master until eventually returning to here and meeting his teammates.
(Kakashi and Zabuza)
Kakashi and Zabuza were still battling it out, and both were quite evenly matched in skill. However it took just one miscalculation from the Mist Swordsman for the Leaf Jonin to exploit it and finally take down his rival.
Kakashi says, "Your ambitions will create a lot of sacrifices. That is something not worthy of being ninja."
Zabuza says, "I fight for me and my ambitions will come true Kakashi."
Kakashi then summons his signature * ninken to subdue Zabuza and preparing his best just the *Raikiri to finish him off. Just before Zabuza felt his life flash before his eyes his subordinate Haku came in to shield Zabuza.
"That kid," Kakashi says.
"Haku," Zabuza says.
Kakashi was now going thrust his lightning jutsu on Haku, but then a harpoon chain with a kunai stopped Kakashi on his tracks. Kakashi was surprised that Kitsune was the one who stopped his attack.
Gato appears with his thugs. They were clapping mockingly due on how they were able to survive that long.
"Looks like the Demon of the Mist can't do his job properly," remarks the crime boss boldly.
"Gato, so you were going to do this eventually?"
"You're damn right I was going to. Even if you succeeded in killing the bridge builder, I wasn't going to pay you and that kid anyways. I'll pay a handsome reward for killing those pesky ninja, but leave the women alive they could serve a new purpose as my new sex toys."
Kitsune just looked with an intense glare towards the midget businessman who had the balls to say such despicable thing. Kakashi and Zabuza had similar thoughts as well.
Kitsune says, "Treasure these moments midget as if they were your last; these are literally your last moments in the world of living." Kitsune summons shadow clones, and so does Kakashi while Zabuza compensates with water clones. They in few moments slaughter most of the thugs, while the rest run away.
Gato was completely feeling fear now that he was completely alone, "Listen I'm sure that we can make an agreement." His only answer was Kitsune beheading him and slicing the rest of his flesh into thin strips and throwing him into the ocean.
"How's this for an answer asshole?"
(Days later)
The people of the Land of Waves were grateful toward the ones who removed their biggest nightmare, Gato.
Tazuna completed the bridge and then had the idea to naming the 'Super Tazuna Bridge' which was quickly dismissed. Inari suggests, "How about we call it, 'Kitsune Bridge'?" It was approved.
Team 7 returns home to Konoha after a successful mission.
(With the 3 Edenian females)
"According to our scouting there will be an upcoming event called the Chunin Exams, we just have to infiltrate stealthily and come for our objective. Someone who has sealed inside that powerful spirit that interests Shang Tsung," says Kitana
"I'm with you all the way, Princess Kitana," responds Jade.
"Mileena has an idea, maybe for three to forge a temporary alliance with some gullible fools and use them for our own purpose," says Mileena.
"You could have some nice ideas coming from the mind of a child," replies Jade.
"Shut up Jade!"
"You shut up Mileena!"
"Enough!"
The three Edenian females just continued their way to execute their plan. While in the dreadful Netherrealm, a demon sorcerer and a fallen Elder God were also scheming their own plans waiting for the realms to be weakened so they can have absolute control.
