John looked up from his phone at his date of the night. He had taken some time to woe her. Madeline was her name, she was extremely pretty and young.
"Is everything alright?" Her voice was sweet and concerned. The ex-army doctor considered his answer then sighed bringing his palm to rub his face.
"I'm deeply sorry Madeline, something has come up." He scooted his chair back put some bills on the table and made his way towards the door cursing his flatmate on the way as always.
