"Is she waking up?"
Sakura slid off the couch and faced Ibiki as both he and Anko entered the house, the hope in her voice marred by the exhaustion that racked her body, sleepless night's brought on by nightmares that waxed and waned more than the moon.. Emerald eyes closed in defeat at Ibiki's grim head shake, her body slumpin back onto her seat as he sighed.
With heavy sighs and thuds as they too sat Ibiki and Anko muttered quietly to eachother, re-addressing the conversation they had had silently on the way back to the house.
"The serum isn't wrong." Sakura interrupted them ignoring the looks she was given, shrugging her shoulders at them. "It's not and no I didn't make a mistake."
She had checked and doubled checked her calculations, the accelerant was the only way to revive Tsunade, the only hope they had.
Leaning forward she rubbed a hand through her hair. "Shishou has been druged for months, the serum isn't going to work miraculously in two days. It will take at least a week." No matter how much she dreamed and wished.
"We'll need to have everything planned to a T." Anko smirked, sharp canines flashing in the light.. " I can't wait to see the bastards face."
"If it works, if it all works " Ibiki added breaking his more than usual silence, using a great show of effort to get up and then pull Anko up by her arm, pushing her towards the door. "Go to your own home."
With a jaunty wave and sticking her tongue out Anko complied. Leaving Ibiki and Sakura alone to go to sleep.
The sleep of worry and tossing and turning, where they held eachother and marvelled at the touch of skin to skin but no more happened. Awed at the state of contentment and marvelling at how they had come to be and revelling in it as well as dealing with the scars both held. Innocent but for their (Ibiki's mostly) thoughts.
Nine days later the Kazekage arrived to renew talks and discuss treaties, accompanied by the ambassador to Iron and Lightning . Merchants poured in the week before filling the streets in a rare moment that Danzou due to the shortage of food and ware had to allow them in.
Konoha was full of visitors for the first time in months.
