Chapter Fourteen: A Confused Hitman

Kakashi leaned casually against the doorway of the room he currently occupied. One of his hands was tucked in his pocket while the other held a glass of white wine. His eyes wondered around the room a couple of time before landing on an all too familiar patch of golden blonde hair then looking elsewhere. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't keep his eyes off her for too long. He tried leaving multiple times, but it seemed his feet had a mind of their own and brought him back to the exact room.

Kakashi took a sip from his glass as he finally decided to let his eyes focus on the blonde across the room. She was dressed in a short sleeved black dress. It was snug around her breast and waist then flared out a little at her hips before finally stopping an inch above her knees. Diamond studs were in her ears, and a diamond bracelet dangled from her wrist. She wore black wedges that accented her legs making them look long. Golden blonde hair flowed down her back in waves, and her face held no make-up. She was beautiful. Her outfit was simple, not showing too much skin, but she made it look sexy. He knew he wasn't the only one to notice because when she walked in, all eyes fell on her.

"Naruko" Kakashi whispered to himself.

Kakashi put all his strength into staying on the wall and not pouncing Naruko right there. In fact, he would've done it by now, but since Naruko walked into the room; she's had her arm attached to someone. She hasn't unattached herself from the person all night, and it was starting to bother Kakashi. He tried to keep his mind from wondering to him, but he couldn't because every time he saw Naruko, he saw him.

"Uchiha" Kakashi growled under his breath.

Kakashi watched as Naruko laughed along with Kiba and some other people he recognized while Sasuke stood there wearing his famous Uchiha smirk. His hand rested on her waist but would drop to her ass in which Naruko gave him a teasing smile. It looked like they were in love to anybody just watching. They were married after all or in other words fixed their issues and aren't getting divorced. Well that was what everyone else thought, but Kakashi knew the truth. They were forced to be together, well Naruko was forced. It was all his idea just to keep her save. Their act was making him wonder if they really were in love and just faking the whole divorcing thing or some twisted way Sasuke came up with to get Naruko to play along. He hoped he hadn't triggered anything with his plan, looking at them he wasn't sure if he did or not. Then again it was Naruko, who got along with everybody even her enemies.

After he made sure Naruko was in good hands and okay, he left to do hits in Suna, Kumo, and Kiri which was supposed to take three months to do. Somehow he ended up finishing early. He didn't know if it was the fact that he missed Naru that had driven him to come back early or if was the fact that he was used to doing missions together with her. Every time he came back, he had to see her. He didn't even have to look long before she came running to him. Heck, sometimes he didn't even have to look at all! He'll admit he looked forward to those days and enjoyed every bit of them even if he was just two days with her.

After the day Kakashi came back from his missions, Sakura came knocking on his door. Naru was still sleep from the events that night. He was shocked to see her there and what she had asked him which is why he's here. Kakashi had promised Sakura he would make it in time to come to her engagement party. If he knew that this was awaiting him, he would've stayed at home reading his favorite book. In fact, he should've known something like this would be awaiting him especially since it involved Sakura, Sasuke, Naruko, and himself in the same building. Sakura did hate Naruko's gut and was head over heels for Sasuke. Naruko didn't too much care for Sakura nor Sasuke right now. Sasuke's eyes only saw Naruko and didn't want no one but her in his life. Kakashi was in love with Naruko who happily returned his feelings. So this had to be some kind of twisted plan of Sakura's to get Naruko away from Sasuke without killing the girl or Sasuke to get Naruko away from Kakashi long enough to get rid of him. Sakura and Sasuke both would just have to wish their plan goodbye because Kakashi wasn't going to help Sakura one bit or fall for Sasuke's trick at all.

Kakashi took one last look at Naruko and Sasuke before downing the glass of wine. He took that as an excuse to leave the room. As he pushed himself off the wall to leave, Naruko turned to look at him giving him a sexy smile. Catching his attention, Kakashi stopped his stroll. Naruko mouthed something to him causing him to smile. He nodded his head silently as he walked out the room to the bar telling her he'll be there.

Naruko listened to Kiba talk about something that happened at work. She was barely paying attention to what he was saying, just catching the jokes he made and laughing with her friends. Her mind was elsewhere thinking about the two men who craved for her attention. Kakashi eyes never left her since she walked into the room, and upon seeing Kakashi, Sasuke couldn't keep his hands off her.

While Kakashi was away, Sasuke tried hard to capture her heart again, and she would be lying if she said she wasn't falling for him again. He proved to her that he didn't mean anything he had done to her for the past six months, and he loved her more than anything. She believed him after a month noticing the way he changed so much by just being around her. Naruko knew all Sasuke wanted was his wife back. Even though she went back to him, she couldn't help but feel she was leading him on.

Her heart also held a place for someone else. Kakashi also has her heart, and she loves him more than she did Sasuke. Even though Kakashi hasn't been her life for long, she fell for him, and boy, did she fall hard. He was the only thing on her mind those long three months. She knew that's where she is meant to be, with Kakashi, but it was hard getting rid of Sasuke.

Naruko turned to look at Kakashi, but a certain pressure on her ass made her turn her head back around. She looked up at her husband who was giving her a sly smirk. His eyes were silently telling her not to worry about him. Naruko gave him a teasing smile while her eyes replied back with a pleading look. She huffed when his reply was a playful smirk.

"Awww!" Ino exclaimed.

Naruko snapped her head in her friend's direction. She had totally forgotten they were there. A small blush crept up on Naruko's cheeks realizing that all their eyes were on her and Sasuke. The attention only made the smirk on Sasuke's face grow wider. He was practically eating up all the attention.

"You guys are so cute together" Ino said which earned a huff from Kiba, an arched eyebrow from Shikamaru, and a glance from Hinata.

"I wouldn't say that much" Kiba muttered.

Naruko raised a hand and placed it on the back of her head then gave a nervous laugh. She used the other one to nudge Kiba making him spit up his drink he had been drinking when she hit him. "Don't be so modest, Ino."

"It's true! I am so jealous" Ino said.

Naruko laughed at her, but her mind didn't find what she said funny at all. You can take him!

"We would have never thought you two would be together" Shino spoke up.

"Married at that" Choji added on.

"Yeah, we would've at least thought you would have killed each other by now with that rivalry you guys had going on. Sakura seemed more likely to be with Sasuke" Ino said.

How did this get on me all of a sudden?! Naruko growled at Ino for bringing up Sakura and Sasuke in the same sentence.

Kiba noticed the discomfort Naruko was feeling on the topic and decided to change it. "We would have thought you'll be married with annoying kids, Ino. How's being single treating you? Maybe, you're just waiting for Sasuke yourself" Kiba joked.

Everyone broke out into laughter except Sasuke who kept holding that stupid smirk. Ino growled at Kiba, "Take that back dog breathe! I got over that emotionless bastard years ago!"

"That was because you met Sai who looks a lot like Sasuke" Choji commented.

"Shut up, Choji!" Ino roared at Choji.

"Troublesome woman," Shikamaru sighed "you know it's true, Ino"

"Shikamaru!" Ino growled raising a fist preparing to hit him.

Shikamaru immediately snapped out of his lazy stupor, and placed Kiba in front of him pushing him towards Ino "He started it, not me!"

"W-what? Don't hit me! Hinata? Shino? Naruko?" Kiba called out for help.

"Sorry, Kiba" Hinata laughed.

"Yeah, you brought this upon yourself" Naruko said in between laughs.

Shino simply walked away like he hadn't heard a thing.

"Ahh!" Kiba screamed out from being hit "Ino, I didn't mean it! I swear."

Ino smiled after taking out her anger on Kiba. Kiba rubbed his bruised head muttering something along lines of mean friends.

"I'm so glad we can still come together like this" Hinata spoke up.

"Yeah" Ino agreed.

Naruko felt a shiver run down her spine. She turned around to see Kakashi staring at her, not Sasuke. He downed the drink in his hand then turned to leave, but stopped when he caught Naruko watching him. Naruko gave him a sexy smile.

"Meet me at the bar" she mouthed to him. She saw Kakashi smile and nod his head before he left. The smile on her face widen as she turned back to her group of friends.

"Just where do you think you're going" a husky voice whispered into her ear.

"Going to get a drink" Naruko whispered back.

"With him?" he questioned.

"Sasuke, I haven't seen him in three months" Naruko said. It was lie, but he didn't need to know that. He stared at her not finding that a good enough answer. "Please" Naruko put on her puppy dog look knowing how Sasuke couldn't deny her now.

Sasuke stared at her a while before finally looking away. "Fine" he said giving in.

Naruko pulled herself away from Sasuke and walked out the room. She started on her way to the bar when she spotted Kakashi leaning on the wall with that filth in his hands across the room. A small smile appeared on her face as an idea came to her mind. She snuck up around the corner. She stuck her head out to see that Kakashi was no longer there.

"Boo" a voice whispered into her ear.

Naruko turned around swinging. If not for the person's good reflexes, he would have been hit in the face, a couple of times. Naruko stopped her assault to see the one and only Kakashi.

"Don't scare me like that" Naruko snapped.

"Oh, but it would've been fun to scare me like that" Kakashi teased.

Naruko pouted, "You're no fun."

"You wasn't saying that two weeks ago" Kakashi's hand trailed up her side.

"Hey! Bar now" Naruko ordered walking away from him.

Kakashi chuckled and watched her walk away before following the blonde beauty to the bar. "Are you being shy, Naruko?"

"Me, being shy? Kakashi, you're funny" Naruko said.

Kakashi laughed, "How have you been?"

"Bor- Ah!" Naruko screamed when someone latched onto her arm. She looked up to see Sakura giving her a genuine smile. "Uh..." Naruko said lost for words. Why is she touching me? Why is she smiling at me like that?

"Naruko, could I talk to you?" She asked the smile never leaving her face.

Naruko looked over at Kakashi who humped his shoulders. "O-okay" Naruko agreed then watch as Sakura dragged her off.

Kakashi watched as Sakura dragged his only source of entertainment at this party away from him. He finally got to escape from the torture of a sight and spend time with the woman he loves for her to be taken away from him in less than ten minutes. Kakashi started to follow after Sakura and Naruko, but a hand on his shoulder stopped him.

He turned around to be met with the eye sore from the other room. He was probably looking for his wife. Why is he touching me?

"Where's Naruko?" Sasuke asked.

"Sakura just took her down that hall. Said something about wanting to talk" Kakashi said.

Sasuke nodded his head, "Sorry about what happened three months ago."

Kakashi stared at Sasuke like he spoken in tongue. Did he just apologize? "I understand. You were just being protective"

"I want to get rid of all this bad blood between us" Sasuke said.

If Kakashi wasn't wearing his mask, Sasuke would've been able to see the shock on his face. Did he take something today?

"What?" Kakashi questioned.

"I want to get rid of all this bad blood between us. I need my hitman back" Sasuke said.

"So everything that happened?"

"It's in the past" Sasuke said.

"Ok" Kakashi said.

"Thanks. See you around, Kakashi" Sasuke said walking away then stopped. "When Naruko comes back, tell her to come back"

Kakashi nodded still in his dumbfounded phase. What the hell is going on?

Naruko ran to keep up with Sakura's fast pace. She sped up after almost falling on her face twice. "Uh, Sakura, what's going on?" Naruko asked hoping the girl wasn't trying to get rid of her.

Sakura finally stopped causing Naruko to crash into her. She opened the door to a room and pulled Naruko in. "Sakura, are you okay?" Naruko asked.

"Great! Naruko, we're friends right?" Sakura asked.

Naruko's mouthed dropped. What the hell is going on? "W-what?" Naruko questioned.

"I'm sorry I've been a bad friend to you. I just been jealous how you do everything so perfect without trying" Sakura said.

Naruko stared at Sakura then burst out laughing, "Sakura, you're funny! Where are the hidden cameras? You got me."

Sakura hit Naruko over the head, "I'm serious, baka!"

Naruko pulled herself off the floor, "What?"

"I know you don't love Sasuke" Sakura said.

"What?!"

"I see the way you look at Kakashi" She continued.

"What?!"

"I moved on from Sasuke"

"What?!"

"I know this so sudden, but I've seen the way he changes when around you. You bring out the life in him. That's something I just can't do. I can't be you no matter how hard I try. Also, I'm sorry about what happened three months ago" Sakura apologized.

"Well, I'm sorry for what I did to you three months ago" Naruko apologized as well.

Sakura hugged her then left the room. Naruko walked out with a shocked expression all over her face. She snapped out of it at seeing Kakashi where she had left him. She walked over to him.

"What she wanted to talk about?" Kakashi asked.

"Us being friends again" Naruko answered.

"What?" Kakashi questioned.

"I know. I still find that weird" Naruko shuddered.

"Well Sasuke and I are on good terms now" Kakashi said.

"What?"

"He came to look for you then he talked to me." Kakashi said.

Naruko stared at him before asking a question. "Do you think that they're up to something?"

"I thought that when Sakura invited me here. Who knows?" Kakashi said back.

"Strange"

"Keep your eyes open. Oh, and Sasuke wants you back"

Naruko pouted. "Damn Teme!"

She gave Kakashi a quick peck on the check before walking off in the direction of the room where Sasuke was.

"Keep your eyes open too, Kashi" Naruko said before she disappeared back into the room.

The game's back in action!
