An early happy birthday to my idol - the beautiful and talented Lea Michele. I think about her every day, but tomorrow I'll especially be thinking about her. I'm sure Cory had something great planned for her and now she can't get it. I hope she at least knows how much we love her.
Chapter 51: Beach Scare
Today, Finn, Rachel, Allie and Caylie were leaving for Florida to go to Rory and Sugar's wedding. Since the wedding took place during the New York public schools' spring break, Rachel was taking the week off of Les Mis so they could spend the week at the beach, and Allie was so excited. She was excited to go to the beach, and excited to go to another wedding, but she would miss her pets while they were gone. Some of her friends from school would be stopping by to feed them. She went up to her dog and pet him. "Bye, Coda, see you in a week!" Then she went to her rabbit's cage. "Bye, Nibbles!"
The Hudson family got in the car and drove to the airport, where they found Kurt, Blaine, Bryan, Julia and Emily waiting. "Mom and Mommy are taking the train!" Bryan told the Hudsons when they arrived.
"We know they are," Allie said to Bryan. Since Santana was pretty far along in her pregnancy now, she and Brittany were taking several trains to Florida.
"How are they?" Finn asked Kurt and Blaine. "Have you heard from them?"
"Yeah, they spent last night in North Carolina, and they should probably be on the other train to Florida now," Kurt said.
Allie sat next to Bryan. "Are you excited to go to Florida?"
"Yes!" Bryan said.
"The beach is a lot of fun," she told her cousin.
"It is?" Bryan asked.
"Yeah," Allie said. "You can play in the sand and go in the water."
"I don't think the little ones can go in the water very much yet, Allie," Rachel said.
"I can swim though!" Allie said proudly.
"I know you can, but your sister and your cousins can't yet," Finn said.
Bryan looked at his dads. "Dad, Daddy, can I go in the water?"
"Only a little," Blaine said.
"I want to swim!" Bryan said.
"We'll do other fun things in Florida, too," Allie said. She turned to her parents. "We're still going to go to Disney World, right?"
"Of course we are!" Finn said.
"Us too?" Bryan asked his dads.
"Yes, they have some fun things for toddlers," Kurt said. The announcement came that it was time to board the flight to Orlando, and the families began boarding the plane.
"So, what do you think of your dress for this wedding?" Kurt asked Allie.
"I like it!" Allie said. This time, she wouldn't be the only flower girl, Caylie, Julia, Emily and Bailey would be flower girls as well. Their dress was the same color orange as the bridesmaids' dresses.
"You'll take good care of your sister and your cousins, right?" Rachel asked Allie.
"Don't I always?" Allie asked.
"Well, yes," Finn admitted as they took their seats on the plane.
x
The flight to Florida was not a very pleasant one for Allie. Julia had been complaining loudly about having to stay in her seat, and Emily had screamed about being scared. She had to remind herself that they were little, but at the same time, she was glad when they got off the plane. The Hudsons went to their hotel, and later that night, the entire group of Glee alumni went to a party center in downtown Orlando for Rory and Sugar's engagement party. This was the first wedding in almost two years, so it would be nice for everyone to be together again.
As the Hudsons arrived, they saw Artie and Betty coming in as well. Artie and Betty were both now able to walk, and Betty was pushing a stroller. "Hi Uncle Artie! Hi Aunt Betty!" Allie called.
Betty looked over. "Look, it's the Hudsons!"
"Hi guys!" Rachel said as she and Finn gave Artie and Betty each a hug. "Is this Jacob?" Artie and Betty's son, Jacob, was about four months old now.
"Yes it is," Artie said as he picked his son out of the stroller. "This is Jacob Colin Abrams."
"He's so cute!" Allie said.
"Yes he is," Betty agreed. "Jacob, this is your Uncle Finn and Aunt Rachel, and your cousins Allie and Caylie."
"I bet Daniel and Bryan are glad to have another boy," Finn said. "We've had a lot of girls lately."
"What do you think Santana's baby is going to be?" Betty asked.
"Santana told me she has a feeling it's a girl," Allie said.
"She didn't tell me that," Rachel said as they went in to join everyone else. Rory and Sugar immediately noticed the arrival of the Abramses and the Hudsons. "Finally, the whole wedding party is here," Rory said.
"You'll like the gift we got you!" Allie told the engaged couple.
"My daddy bought us a new, bigger house for our wedding!" Sugar announced.
Allie noticed the surprised looks on both her parents' faces. "He did?" Finn asked.
"Yeah," Rory said.
"That's so cool!" Allie said. "Dad, will you buy me a house when I get married?"
"I wouldn't count on that, Allie," Finn said. "I don't have the same type of money Aunt Sugar's dad has."
"Hi Caylie," a voice said. Allie noticed that it was Bailey, standing with Daniel.
Caylie giggled. "Hi Bailey!"
"Don't I get a hi?" Allie asked Bailey.
Daniel whispered in his sister's ear. "Hi Allie," Bailey said.
"Hi Bailey," Allie said. She turned to Daniel. "She's learning how to talk, too?"
"Yeah," Daniel said. "So are Emily and Julia."
"They are," Allie said. "They should have their baby brother or sister soon."
"Yeah, Santana's gotten pretty fat," Daniel laughed.
Allie nudged him. "Don't let her hear you say that!" The two of them laughed before going to join the other little kids.
x
The day after the engagement party, Finn and Rachel took Allie and Caylie to the beach. Kurt, Blaine, Brittany and Santana would be taking their kids there as well, and they talked to the Puckermans, Evanses, Changs and Abramses about bringing their kids, too. While the people who'd joined later on had grown to be part of the Glee family, it was pretty rare for the originals (plus their spouses) to all be together.
The weather was really nice, perfect for being at the beach. Jacob, Evan and James were all sleeping as their parents held them, while Caylie, Bailey, Julia and Emily seemed to be fascinated by the sand. Bryan and Daniel had taken things to the next level and were trying to build a sand castle, and the girls eventually were attempting to help them. Meanwhile, Allie was interested in wading in the water.
This concerned Finn and Rachel, because while she had taken some swim lessons, she definitely wasn't a skilled enough swimmer to handle the ocean. They kept looking over from their conversations with their friends to Allie in the water, and everyone was looking at the toddlers, hoping they didn't follow her in.
x
Allie loved the feel of the sand under her feet and the waves crashing at her ankles. Wading wasn't all she wanted to do though. She looked ahead at some older kids who'd gone further out and walked a little further.
Now the waves were coming about up to her knees. This felt even better. Some of the big kids she saw were lying on what looked like surfboards and were riding over the waves in those. She wanted to try that, so she walked a little further out.
At this point the waves hadn't started coming yet, and the water by itself was to her shoulders. A huge wave came down and went over her head. Her nose filled with water and she struggled to get above it. She started coughing and tried to go back, but then another wave came. Now she was afraid.
x
"Where's Allie?" Rachel asked.
"You guys told her just to wade, didn't you?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, we did, but..." Finn looked at the ocean. He squinted and saw a brown haired girl in a blue bathing suit that looked like Allie's. She'd gone out too far. "Oh my God!"
"We've got to go get her," Rachel said as she jumped up and grabbed Finn's hand. "Everyone, please keep an eye on Caylie."
"We told her not to go out too far!" Rachel said as she and Finn ran into the ocean. There were some older kids in the part of the ocean Allie was in, so maybe Allie had thought it wasn't deep. But what wasn't deep for older kids wasn't necessarily shallow for Allie.
"What did you expect, she's eight!" Finn said as they ran into the ocean.
"Finn, what if she drowns?" Rachel said with a scared tone in her voice.
"She won't, there's a lifeguard," Finn said as they ran into the water.
Another wave crashed down and went over Allie's head. Finn heard his daughter screaming, "Help!" right before she went under the wave.
Finn's heart stopped for a second, but when Allie popped up again, he could breathe again. Finally, he and Rachel reached Allie, and he grabbed her. The part of the ocean Allie had wandered into was probably four and a half feet deep, and that wasn't even with the waves.
"Mom, Dad," Allie hiccuped.
"Are you okay?" Rachel asked as they began walking back to the rest of their friends.
"It just looked like fun," Allie said. "I didn't know it would be so deep."
"Allie, remember what we talked about?" Finn asked his daughter. "The ocean isn't like a pool."
"I'm sorry!" Allie said.
Finn gave Allie a kiss. "We're just glad you're okay."
"I'm sorry," Allie told her parents. "I won't go that far out again." She coughed again. "A lot of water got in my nose."
"Let's go back with your aunts, uncles and cousins, shall we?" Rachel asked.
"Okay," Allie said. They started to head back and saw Daniel, Bryan, Caylie, Bailey, Julia and Emily working on a sandcastle.
"Allie okay?" Caylie asked.
"She's fine," Finn said.
"Make the sandcastle with us!" Bryan said.
Allie sat down with her sister and cousins. "I'd love to."
Finn and Rachel went back to join their friends. "So she's okay?" Tina asked.
"Yeah, it was just a scare," Rachel said as she sat back down.
Finn looked over at Santana, who was looking pretty uncomfortable. "Britt?" Santana said.
Brittany looked at Santana. "What is it?"
"I think my water just broke," Santana said.
Kurt jumped up. "Oh my God, we're having another baby! We've got to get to the hospital."
"But we're in our bathing suits," Brittany protested.
Santana gave her wife a look. "Britt, our daughter is about to be born! Just put on a towel!"
"Did you say daughter?" Blaine asked.
"I just think it's a girl," Santana said.
"Okay, I'll drive," Blaine said. "Finn, Rachel, can you watch Julia, Emily and Bryan?"
"Of course," Finn said. "Call us when it's time to bring them, okay?"
"Can you please help me to the car?" Santana asked. Brittany took one of her wife's arms and Kurt took the other as they walked to the car. Meanwhile, Rachel went to tell the other three children what was going on.
x
A few hours had passed, and the Glee alumni left the beach. The Hudsons returned to their hotel, bringing along the three other children of Kurt, Blaine, Brittany and Santana. Right now, Rachel was watching cartoons with Caylie, Emily and Julia in the hotel room, while Finn took Allie and Bryan to the hotel pool. The Puckermans were staying at the same hotel as the Hudsons, so Quinn had brought Bailey to watch cartoons in the Hudsons' room, and Puck and Daniel had met up with Finn, Bryan and Allie at the pool.
"Once Santana has her baby, all six of the original Glee girls will have given birth," Quinn said to Rachel.
"I know!" Rachel said. "It's too bad you guys couldn't bring Beth along, I bet Allie would have liked to have had her around."
"Yeah, I would have liked to, but she and Shelby did have another vacation planned this week," Quinn said.
Emily looked at Rachel. "Baby yet?"
Rachel smiled at her niece. "Nope, no baby yet. It shouldn't be long."
"Soon?" Julia asked.
"Yeah, soon," Rachel said as her phone went off. She saw that it was a text from Kurt. "Bring the kids to the hospital on Oceanfront Drive. Santana had the baby!"
Rachel looked at Quinn and at the little girls. "Julia, Emily, your mom had the baby!" Both girls started giggling, as did Caylie and Bailey.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" Quinn asked.
"Kurt didn't say," Rachel said.
"I want to know," Quinn pouted.
"Me too," Rachel said. "Call Puck and tell him and Finn to get up here so we can take the kids to the hospital."
The Hudsons and Puckermans went to the hospital shortly after. Unfortunately, Allie, Caylie, Daniel and Bailey couldn't see Santana's baby in the maternity ward since they were too young and not siblings. So Puck and Quinn stayed in the waiting room with the Hudson and Puckerman kids at first while Finn and Rachel took Bryan, Julia and Emily to Santana's room to see their parents and their new brother or sister.
"Thanks so much for coming!" Blaine said as he hugged Finn and Rachel, then picked up his kids. "And thanks for watching them."
"The Puckermans are here, too," Finn said.
"That's great," Blaine said. He looked at his three other kids. "Ready to meet your sister?"
"Sister?" Julia asked, looking happy.
"Yes!" Blaine said. "Come on in!"
Finn, Rachel, Bryan, Julia and Emily went into the room, where Kurt, Brittany and Santana were sitting with a pink bundle.
"You were right, it's a girl," Rachel said.
"I always knew it," Santana said.
"I guess I had a feeling with my girls, too," Rachel said.
"What's her name?" Bryan asked.
"Her name is Elizabeth Victoria Lopez-Pierce Hummel-Anderson," Kurt said proudly.
"That's so pretty," Finn said.
Bryan, Emily and Julia looked at the baby. "She cute!" Emily said.
"Yes she is," Brittany said.
"How's it feel to have four kids?" Finn asked.
"Great," Santana said. "And I'm so glad she's out."
"Mike and Tina will be her godparents," Kurt said. "Since we already used you two, Quinn and Puck and Sam and Mercedes."
"They'll be honored," Rachel said. "It's so nice that everyone's here and will get to meet her."
x
A few days after Elizabeth was born was Sugar and Rory's wedding day. Kurt, Blaine, Santana and Brittany were all in the wedding party, so Santana's parents had flown down to Florida to meet their granddaughter and watch her for a few hours while the parents went to the wedding. Right now, the girls were in the bridal suite with Sugar. Kitty, the maid of honor, was helping Sugar with her dress, while the other bridesmaids sat around, waiting for the wedding to start. Rachel was pretty impressed that Santana was able to be in the wedding days after giving birth. Everyone else had gotten to see Elizabeth sometime during the past few days, and Mike and Tina were thrilled to meet their goddaughter.
"There's only two weddings left after today," Kitty said. "Wonder who's next, me and Joe or Jake and Harmony?"
"My dress is heavy," Sugar said.
"Well, you this is the most expensive dress out of all of us," Mercedes said.
"It is," Sugar said. "Maybe Rory and I will have the next kid."
"That would be great," Marley said. "Speaking of babies, Allie, are you excited to carry Olivia?"
"Yes!" Allie said proudly. Since Allie was the oldest flower girl, she would carry Olivia down the aisle while the other girls carried the flowers. Rachel had a feeling Allie would do a great job with that.
x
"So, your whole family came here from Ireland?" Joe, the best man, asked Rory.
"Yeah, they love America," Rory said.
"That's great," Jake said. "Are you excited to get married?"
"Of course!" Rory said. "It's almost time."
"I think Allie's excited," Finn said. "She can't wait to carry Olivia down the aisle."
"Well, Marley and I definitely trust Allie to carry our daughter," Ryder told Finn.
"You've seen how good she is with kids," Finn said.
The groomsmen (along with the ring bearers - Bryan would carry the rings, and Daniel would pull the orange wagon with James, Evan and Jacob in it) went to the hall to meet up with the bridesmaids. Finn and Rachel watched with pride as Allie carried Olivia down the aisle and Caylie threw out flower petals along with Julia, Emily and Bailey. They felt so lucky that their daughters were part of the Glee family.
Chapter 52 preview: Allie and one of her friends have a big disagreement. Finn and Rachel also set up a playdate for Caylie with a girl from their apartment building.
