Circumstances
Chapter 3: Question, Answers and waking up a teenager
AN: As usual, I own absolutely nothing. Also this story is based off the end of Avengers, going quite AU. Also some Phlint, but nothing graphic.
Fenrir regarded Thor speculatively.
"I really don't think this is a great idea Uncle Thor. He won't thank you for it, you know he prefers to be left alone, especially after everything that happened".
Thor clasped the left side of his cloak sighing.
"I know Fen, but it is necessary. I need all of you. Regardless of what happened, we need to move forward together. For the sake of the child".
Thor stooped down to Fenrir's level and held him by his shoulders. "I'm sorry to do this to you all. I never wanted this to happen"-
A few feet away, Natasha started dry heaving into a bucket and droplets of sweat appeared on her head as she started shaking. Pepper started rubbing her back and placed a cool cloth against her head. The rest of the group looked over worriedly.
"This isn't normal", Clint whispered to Phil. "Early stages are rough, this is something else".
Phil nodded and moved off to the kitchen. Natasha curled up against Pepper listlessly. Fenrir broke his concentration and looked at Thor.
"Okay, get him then. But look if he poisons you"-
"I know", Thor replied as he stood and walked past Banner and Stark to the balcony to set off. The two scientists were standing there in shock.
"Something that big"- Banner started as they walked over the child.
"You underestimate him", Fenrir smiled. "He's a master at hiding. Besides, humans are experts at ignoring what they don't believe in. Realistically, you're all out of touch".
"I think people are a bit more open minded now after the alien invasion", Tony mused. "Just behave yourself till your uncle gets back kid".
"Yes my lord", Fenrir mimicked before darting off to chase the robots again.
Natasha sank back sighing.
"Are you tired"?
"Exhausted"…
She turned and faced a pale face with green eyes.
"Green again", she murmured, running a hand down Loki's face. He caught her palm with a light kiss. "Where are you"?
"It's best if you don't know. Don't tell me, I know all about it", Loki placed a kiss to her head. "I'm sorry, we are in danger. You have to wake, and I have to go".
"Loki please don't"-
Natasha felt a cool breeze behind her and turned to face an empty bed.
When she opened her eyes, Phil was standing in front of her with a tray.
"Here you go, made some soup".
Immediately, Natasha started dry heaving again. Fenrir immediately jumped onto the couch and curled up next to her stomach.
"Ssssh, it's ok little one. I'll tell them, I'll get you something else. Please try to calm down, mother can't hear you like I can".
Natasha immediately felt her stomach settle and Fenrir smiled and rubbed her tummy.
"Good girl".
Fenrir sat up and turned to Phil. "Mother can't eat that. Where's the ice box"?
Tony pointed to the kitchen and Fenrir ran off. Phil fobbed the soup off to Clint who dug in hungrily.
Fenrir returned a few minutes later, laden down with ice cubes, ice cream, jelly, yoghurt and a variety of cold meats and vegetables. Fenrir piled the stuff on the couch and watched as Natasha started to devour. She was ravenous.
"Hey that's mine"! Tony protested when she started spooning chocolate pudding into her mouth. He backed down quickly when he was growled at. "On second thought, keep it Widow".
"Wise decision", Steve muttered as he moved to sit near Phil and Clint.
Once it was obvious the food would stay down, Fenrir decided to explain.
"Mother can't have hot or cooked food. Cold food is the only thing that will work, the fresher the better. Otherwise the baby will reject it. That's why she's been so ill. Angrboda had the same issue", his eyes hardened slightly as he thought of his life giver.
"Who's that"? Steve asked in confusion.
Fenrir growled and snapped his head round. His face started to morph between human and wolf.
"A bitch, she left us, betrayed us to save herself"!
His mother, Bruce mouthed. None of them had ideal parents, but this was more than resentment. This was unrestrained hatred.
"Fen", Natasha said softly. The boy snapped his head at her. Natasha held her arms out. Fenrir ran to her side and buried his face in her torso, as his tiny body shook with wild sobs. Natasha bent down and placed a kiss on his head.
"It'll be OK, I promise".
The rest of the Avengers, Fury and Pepper left to give them some privacy. When Clint looked back in later, Natasha was asleep on the couch, with a very large wolf curled up next her, head at her tummy and nuzzling every few seconds.
It may have been a fucked up situation, but maybe they could make it work. Natasha might be able to cope with this.
On some unknown coast line, Thor stood at the edge of a peninsula. He shifted the hammer around in his hands a little, sending a silent prayer that his actions would not invoke Ragnarok. Raising his hammer to the sky, lightning and thunder swirled around him. Before he could change his mind he smashed the ending result and lightning stream down into the sea.
It impacted with something.
It caused a rumble. The rumble got progressively louder. When the leviathan reached the surface, it was angry. Waves crushed against the coast and a bone shattering howl was heard. The beast thrashed in the sea working out a few centuries worth of cricks and pains down his spine.
A few seconds later Thor was drenched and standing face to face with a giant serpent, who blinked at him sleepily and moaned in frustration. It's great mouth opened as it spat at Thor with the mother of all morning breath.
"What in the hells do you want"?
