NOTE: Hey guys, I have a review I put on here, but I know not all of you read those, so I just wanted to tell you what I said.
You don't know the whole story yet. I know a stove fire couldn't kill over a hundred trained and active people.
You don't know everything yet. Hell you don't even know if Callie and Tim are alive. I can write without them. Hell I could kill Arizona off if I wanted to.
Maybe Tim is alive and went on a killing spree because Callie was killed.
You (SOME OF YOU) act like you know everything already. You don't.
I do.
So please, remember that I know things that you don't, so keep reading or just ask. Don't act like I'm being stupid for not telling you.
Thank you.
March 5th
"You know you don't have to come, right?" Arizona asks her friend.
"I know," Teddy shrugs, "I feel like I owe it to him,"
Arizona nods, slamming the trunk down.
"Robbins!" A male voice yells.
Arizona whips her head around and finds Alex.
"Karev," she nods to the man still in scrubs.
"I just wanted to tell you that they have news. Turn on the radio on your way. Don't worry about hurrying back, I got everything under control," he says, his voice giving away his feelings of sadness.
"I'll be back on the seventh," she says and gets in her car.
"Drive safe boss," Karev says, then runs back inside the hospital.
Teddy gets in and Arizona starts driving.
"Aren't you going to turn on the radio?" Teddy asks.
"They are just saying that everybody's dead. Mom got a flag for Tim last week," Arizona shrugs indifferently.
"Why haven't I gotten any calls from anybody?"
"They probably figured you'd know already, as it's been two months, over two months," Arizona mumbles.
"There have been-"
"Yeah, I know. People have been missing for a longer time than this. I know,"
Teddy bites her lip and sighs. She turns on the radio anyways.
"New news released today for the explosion back in late December on an American base. A terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the explosion. It was confirmed last month that is was a stove, but we were provided faulty information. The President says that he will not stand for this to ever happen again, and so he sent out a team of highly trained people to see what happened. There was a gas leak from the stove, that combined with a bonfire that was outside, and some other causes that aren't known yet, caused a big explosion, killing everybody on the base. The base was celebrating so nobody was off base when the explosion happened. Our prayers go out to the families of those who gave their lives for our freedom. Among those taken, Carlos Torres' daughter was one of them-"
Arizona reaches over and turns off the radio.
"I'm sorry," Teddy whispers.
"Stop, just stop talking Teddy. I need to focus on the road," Arizona says through gritted teeth, her grip on the steering wheel turning her knuckles white.
"You can pull over if you need to," Teddy softly says.
"No. I'm fine,"
Blue eyes connect with green for a split second before the blue go back to the road.
That second was enough to shut the woman up.
March 6th
"I'm sorry for your loss," another one of the many people who came says to Arizona.
"Thank you," Arizona says once again, her eyes unseeing.
"Arizona, honey, it's time to go," her mother says gently.
"Okay," she nods.
"She hasn't cried the whole time she's been here," Barbara whispers.
"She's just trying to hold it together," Daniel argues.
"She's shutting down again Daniel, I don't know if we can get her back if we lose her,"
"I'm with Barbara on this one. Arizona isn't herself," Teddy agrees.
"So? She deserves time to not be herself. She came out here to see her brother, who is now dead; and she found a great women, one she loved, who is now dead too. Two of the most important people in her life died. She has a right to be broken," he says.
"I'm broken too, but it doesn't mean you can just shut off all your feelings," Barbara points out.
"It doesn't mean she has to show them all either," Daniel argues.
"I'm fine,"
All three heads turn to the voice. Arizona, to put it nicely, looks like crap. The makeup she put on earlier for the funeral is smudged from crying. Her hair is in a messy ponytail and her eyes are red.
"I cry all the time. I wish I could stop crying everything I got away from telling a parent that I saved their child even though the love of my life, and my brother are both dead because they wanted to protect that child. I wish I could go and work in operating room two, I can't because that is where I was every fucking time Callie called me. I wish I didn't get misty eyes everytime I walk past an on call room because I sat down and talked to Tim in every one of them a lot. I wish I was shutting down like I did when Joane left me. I feel open to everything because I can't get this feeling out of me that they aren't dead. I don't feel like they are dead, yet I just went through his funeral. There are millions of dollars going into peds because Callie's dad knows who I am and is using her death as a way to help little children get the help she needs. I wish that the parent of the children I work on didn't know that I just lost the love of my life. I'm broken. I'm still here and I'm broken. I would love it if you wouldn't talk about me anymore. I'm going to go to bed because I have to get up at five to drive back home. Teddy you should go to bed too, because I will leave you here. Night,"
"You sure you have to go back?"
"Yes Mom, I'm fine," Arizona sighs again.
"I'm sorry, I just," she bites her lip, "I want to make sure you are okay,"
"I'm as good as I'm going to get,"
"Goodbye Barbara," Teddy mumbles, stumbling to the car.
"Goodbye dear," Barbara chuckle.
"She's not used to waking up early on days she doesn't have to work," Arizona says with a small smile.
"I figured. Drive safely. Call me when you get there,"
"I will, where's Dad?"
"I'm here," he Dad runs up in his sweats.
"You went out this early?" Arizona asks, surprised.
"Yeah, running helps,"
"Whatever works for you Dad, I love you," Arizona kisses the side of his face, "I love you," she kisses the side of her mothers face.
"I love you," both of her parents say.
Barbara pulls her into a hug and Daniel pats her back in the sweet way old men do.
"You ready?" she turns to ask Teddy.
She smiles when she finds Teddy is fast asleep in the passenger side.
"This should be fun," she mumbles as she gets in.
