Chapter 27
Luckily Freddie was able to force his way into the car and get Ruby out safely, once she was out safe and sound they all went home. Once at home Freddie and Lindsey went to settle their little girl down for the night, Sandy was sat in the living room with her head in her hands she was upset about something, Lindsey took Ruby upstairs where Freddie joined everyone else on the sofa.
"Why aren't they out there doing anything! She was supposed to be safe in that ward. I'm never going to forgive myself if anything has happened to my baby" Sandy sobbed. Freddie's heart skipped a beat.
"Mum, what's happened?" Freddie asked with worry in his voice. He noticed that Robbie,Jason and Ziggy looked quite upset too but they weren't showing any signals as to why.
"Elsa's been taken from the hospital mate" Ziggy announced, clearing his throat as he said the words. Freddie's eyes widened, he knew who took her.
"Trevor Royale is all over this, he's back on the scene" Freddie proclaimed, he was answered with expressions of shock from his family.
Lindsey came downstairs with a smile on her face, she joined everyone in the living room.
"Is everything okay?" Lindsey asked as she saw the looks on everybody's face.
"Trevor's gone and took Elsa from the hospital" Freddie shouted.
"What?" she said with anger in her voice.
"Somebody took her from the ward around 3 hours ago, Freddie seems to think it was Trevor" Sandy said as tears fell from her eyes. Lindsey realised that something else could be the case and maybe Trevor wasn't to blame after all.
"No! It can't have been him, Joe's got her I'm certain of it" Lindsey announced, Ziggy put his arm around her.
"It's okay Linds, go and get some rest you're only confused darling" he soothed, not believing for one second that Joe was back on the scene.
"She's right Zig, Joe's back! I dropped him off at a B&B not far from the village. I didn't want to bring him home because I knew it would upset mum" Freddie sighed, wishing he hadn't of allowed Joe into the car and brought him back into their life. Sandy looked up at Freddie in horror.
"What do you mean my Joe's back. What? When?" she said.
"Trevor took Ruby from the dog thinking she was Elsa, we went to find her and Joe happened to be there when we got there. Trevor and Grace had him tied to a Jeep but I saved him mum, I couldn't bare to see him like that so I untied him and did something to them and we had to run as quickly as possible" Freddie announced.
"What did you do to them! What do they want with my beautiful Elsa" Sandy spat, very angry with Trevor and Grace. All she wanted to do was get her hands on them.
"I don't want to discuss it mum, I just want to forget about what's happened. Stay calm mum, I'll do my best to find her I promise" Freddie said as he kissed Sandy's forehead.
"I'm coming with ya!" Robbie said, getting up and rushing to the front door. Freddie wanted to do this alone but he didn't bother to protest, he and Robbie set off to find Joe to see if he had Elsa. The others stayed home worried out of their minds as to what had happened to the little girl. As the hours passed there was no news from Robbie and Freddie, Sandy wasn't able to get any rest at all but Lindsey managed to get a small amount, the others tried to sleep too but they didn't have any luck. Lindsey was worried but she had to keep strong for Ruby, of course she would notice that Elsa was missing when she woke up but she and everyone else knew that they would need to keep everything as normal as possible.
"How could anybody take a child from hospital, what the hell happened to security in that place" Jason said angrily, he was fuming.
"I have no idea, we need to get to the bottom of this! I'm not going to let this go" Sandy said, the others agreed with her. They were going to report it to whoever they could because they hadn't took care of Elsa properly, isn't that what hospitals are supposed to do?
Around 1pm the next day, Freddie and Robbie returned home with a certain little person clutching Robbie's hand looking a little shy. Sandy rushed over to her little girl and picked her up.
"Elsa sweetheart, thank god you're okay! Where on earth did you find her" Sandy said, planting lots of kisses on her. Elsa squirmed in her mum's arms, she clearly wanted to get down. Something had happened because Elsa never resisted her mum's affection.
"She wasn't with Joe, Grace had her" Freddie announced, Sandy put Elsa down and she ran over to the couch, she sat down and put her thumb in her mouth.
"If she's layed a finger on my little girl, I wont be responsible for my actions!" Sandy shouted.
"Mum stop shouting you're scaring Elsa" Jason said.
"Come with me sweetheart lets go and play on the play station" Jason soothed, as she sat with her hands covering her ears.
"Yay!" she beamed, Jason scooped her up and took her upstairs, once Elsa was out of the room Freddie began to tell Sandy where she he and Robbie had found her.
"Grace had her in this deserted hotel room thing, it was nowhere near where Joe is. I called him and he's still in the place where I dropped him off. I don't know what she did to her but as soon as me and Robbie came into view she gasped and ran up to us, demanding us to take her home. She's never shown fear like that mum, I don't know what's happened" Freddie said.
"Just let me get my hands on that Grace!" Sandy shouted, Sandy got up and left the house demanding to know where Grace was, Ziggy shook his head at Freddie for not following her.
"I suppose it's my job to go and stop her from doing something stupid then!" Ziggy said as he left the room. Freddie sighed hard, Lindsey gave Freddie a hug from behind.
"It's going to be okay Fred don't worry" she said, kissing him softly on the cheek.
"I seriously don't know what to do any more Linds, I just don't" Freddie said as tears fell from his eyes.
"We'll get this sorted I promise, I need you to be strong for me Freddie, we all you need you" Lindsey soothed, she hadn't seen Freddie like this in such a while and seeing like it then was breaking her heart.
"You're right Linds I need to stop being so stupid and get out there and find out what Grace and Trevor want" Freddie said sounding very determined. Lindsey smiled at Freddie, he pulled her close they shared a lovely moment with each other. If anyone was a bystander then they would say that it a beautiful view, two people in love with one another. Freddie always looked out for Lindsey and wherever possible she would try her hardest to do the same for him.
Just as they were starting to enjoy themselves, Elsa came running down the stairs.
"Jason has gone to sleep on the bed, he dropped the controller on the floor. I think he's poorly" Elsa announced, out of breath from rushing down the stairs. Lindsey and Freddie knew exactly what was going on, Jason had slipped into a diabetic coma.
"Stay with Freddie darling, I'm going to make him better okay" Lindsey said as she got up and left the room to tend to Jason, she phoned an ambulance as she went up and checked him over. He was still unconscious when she got to him. Elsa and Freddie sat in the living room waiting to hear news.
"Is Jason going to be better soon" Elsa asked as she sat beside Freddie, looking at a princess book.
"Of course he is Els, he's just not feeling very well that's all" Freddie smiled, he hoped he was right.
"He might be able to have the bed that I stayed in last night" Elsa said smiling, thinking he would end up on the same ward as she had been on.
"Another little boy or girl will have your bed, Jason's a big boy so he'll be in an adult ward" Freddie said gently, Elsa looked at Freddie funnily for a second.
"So they have more than one ward?" she enquired.
"Yes Elsa you're exactly right, there's a ward for little people and a ward for big people" Freddie said warmly.
"Oh I see" she said, then going back to reading her book. Around 15 minuets later the ambulance arrived and took Jason to hospital, Lindsey and Freddie went with Jason to the hospital and Robbie stayed in with Elsa, Robbie invited Phoebe over to spend some time with her too, he and Phoebe always loved looking after as she would always behave herself. Ruby also joined them as Lindsey and Freddie didn't want her anywhere near the hospital which was extremely understandable. Phoebe made sure that both girls were fed and watered whereas gave them things to do, they would often be quite hyperactive when in his care.
"Robbie, you do realise Freddie and Lindsey aren't going to be happy when they come home to these hyper little monkeys" Phoebe said smiling as Ruby and Elsa continued to run around the kitchen and living room area.
"They shouldn't leave them with us then should they" Robbie chuckled as he saw how much fun the girls were having. Phoebe nudged him with mock annoyance.
"Ruby! Make sure you share those sweets with Elsa please" Phoebe said as she saw Ruby grabbing a handful of sweets and stuffing her face, who could blame her as sweets are a nice treat every now and then.
"Okay auntie Phoebe" Ruby said sweetly, passing some over to Ella.
"Thank you Ruby" Ella said politely.
Soon after, Robbie's phone started to ring, it was Freddie with news on Jason. It was news that nobody would ever want to receive, Robbie began to sob as the news he had just received registered in his brain, Phoebe didn't know what to do. She quickly settled the girls at the kitchen table and did her best to comfort Robbie.
