SCARLET IS ALIIIIIIVE. Okay, sorry. I really update slow, huh? Anyway, I chose this day to update because...
IT'S JIN'S BIRTHDAY!
So yeah, happy birthday to Jin-sama-IhopehereconsidersShonenBrave-! Okay, I don't really have much to say, so continue with the story~
"Ne Hibiya, why did you leave me here?"
Standing a few meters away from him was none other than his old friend, Hiyori Asahina.
"No, H-Hiyori...don't say that! I didn't want to leave you-" Hibiya nearly choked, he realized he'd been crying.
"But you did." Hiyori replied, her eyes displayed nothing but sorrow and betrayal. It hurt Hibiya to see her that way.
Momo kept her distance from the two, not really knowing what to do. She watched and listened to their conversation, a little confused about what's happening. So this is the girl Hibiya's been looking for? Normally, Momo would've embraced her and give her a warm welcome, but that felt out of place.
"I'm so-sorry..." Hibiya tried to get closer to her, but everytime he advanced a step, Hiyori would back away. "Please...d-don't be like that. I've been looking for you, Hiyori. I missed you so much, I really did!"
Hiyori seemed to notice Momo, but turned away when she did so. Hibiya found that odd. He thought Hiyori really liked Momo, then why isn't she acknowledging her presence?
"You look happy with your new friends." Hiyori said, her voice was dull and monotonous. "You're enjoying your life without me, aren't you?"
"That's not true!" Hibiya yelled, feeling a new set of tears form in the corners of his eyes.
"...Hibiya, I want new friends too. I want to enjoy my life too...but I can't."
Hibiya's face contorted into a confused one, "Why not?"
"Because I'm trapped in here. Forever." She replied, looking at Hibiya. He flinched under her stare.
Blinking back the tears that were forming, Hibiya bit his lip, "How can I help? How can I get you out of here?"
"Die in my place."
"Have you tried contacting them?" Kido asked for the third time. She was getting impatient really fast.
"Yes, but it just won't work." Seto showed his phone to the green-haired girl. "Momo's not answering her phone, and I can't seem to contact Shintaro."
Mary shifted nervously, "W-why wouldn't Momo-chan answer?"
"Maybe it's their turn." Kano said in response. All heads turned to him.
"Do you think they'll be okay?" Seto asked. Those two were the youngest members of the Dan, he wondered if pairing them up was a good idea.
"Momo-chan can handle herself," Kano grinned, "And Hibiya's pretty matured. They can handle this on their own."
Kido shook her head, "I'm wouldn't say that about Hibiya." She shoved her hands into her pockets, "He always looks so distracted, like how Shintaro was when we first found him."
Kano shrugged, "Maybe you're right."
"I trust in them." Mary smiled a little. "They'll be okay."
Momo was shocked to hear those words from a kid no older than Hibiya.
"There's no way you're doing that." Momo interfered, gaining the attention of the two. Once again, Momo felt bad about being the center of attention.
"Hibiya would do anything to make me happy, right?" Hiyori tilted her head, she purposely said her words loud enough for the idol to hear.
"...Of course." Hibiya mumbled, ignoring the look he was receiving from Momo. "I will die in your place, and set you free."
Hiyori smiled and beckoned for him to come forward. Hibiya did as she instructed.
"No!"
Hibiya turned back to Momo. He didn't notice that Hiyori was now staring at Momo too.
"You can't do that!" Momo yelled, her eyes glowing bright red. Hibiya noted that it was his first time seeing her eyes as red as this. It was not to stare at her. Like she herself was a magnet forcing everyone to glue their eyes on her.
Hiyori recovered from the shock first, "He will do whatever I say."
"Hibiya, you know this is a trap! That can't be Hiyori!" Momo felt rude for yelling like that, and calling the girl by her first name even though she doesn't even know her, but that wasn't the issue right now.
"What do you mean I'm not Hiyori?" Hiyori scrunched her face in annoyance. "Hibiya, who do you believe?"
He blinked, momentarily taking his gaze away from Momo. He looked at Hiyori and pursed his lips.
"You said Hiyori was your friend, so why would she say something like that?" Momo huffed, glaring at Hibiya for his own denseness.
This made Hibiya snap out of his trance. He blinked again, his eyes darting back and forth between Hiyori and Momo.
"But...you said you would let me be free?" Hiyori sobbed.
"Hiyori..." Hibiya slurred. Momo clicked her tongue, had he not heard what she said? "Hiyori sacrificed her life for me."
"Hiyori died for me...countless times. I...I tried to stop her. I almost succeeded but..." He shook his head, "It all repeated again. Even when I tried to take the blows for her, she wouldn't let me. She hated seeing me die. Hiyori...Hiyori chose to sacrifice her life, for me."
Momo stood there, her jaw almost dropping. She had already heard of Hibiya's story, but she never took it seriously.
"You look a lot like Hiyori..." Hibiya forced himself to smile as he gazed at the girl in front of him. "Even your expressions...everything...even the sadness in your eyes..." He muttered the last part. "Maybe that's why I thought you really were her."
"Don't tell me you believe that girl?" Hiyori hissed, pointing at Momo.
"I'm sorry." Hibiya inched closer. "You must be really lonely, being locked up in this place."
He hugged her.
"Hey, if you do meet Hiyori, please tell her that I miss her."
Ayano/Kagerou staggered back, but was safely caught by Kuroha.
"Tch," She hissed, pulling away. "I don't need your assistance."
"You used up so much energy on that one trial." Kuroha commented, his voice sounding a little strict. "Why do you still continue doing this?"
"How many times do I have to remind you, I'm giving them another chance to get their happiness." She replied coldly, still struggling to walk straight.
"Do you think dying for his friend would make him happy?" Kuroha's voice boomed.
"Stop yelling at me!" She snapped, "And no, but it's what he wanted! If it weren't, then I would've given him a different trial."
A tear slid down her cheek.
"...Wait, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry-"
"I'm not crying!"
Kuroha recoiled, noticing the girl's sudden change.
"Even your expressions...everything...even the sadness in your eyes..."
He remembered what Hibiya said. He frowned a little, even though Ayano is asleep inside that Kagerou, she was still conscious of what's happening.
"Ayano, are you lonely?" He thought, remembering how Ayano once spoke to him telepathically. He got no response. "Just wait a little longer, okay?".
Everything happened in a blink of an eye. As soon as Hibiya whispered the words to the girl, she disappeared into thin air.
It took all of Momo's will to not bombard Hibiya with questions, seeing as to how he looked very crestfallen. He began sobbing when 'Hiyori' disappeared, and his soft sobs soon turned to loud cries.
Momo pitied the little boy, but she still kept her distance. He shouldn't be experiencing such things at a young age. Meeting that impostor must've hurt him so much, like salt being rubbed to an open wound. It's been less than a year since Hibiya came to Mekakushi Dan, meaning it was only recently that he had been separated from Hiyori.
"He's a big crybaby, but he's a good guy."
Momo had to fight the urge to scream when she turned around. She was welcomed by the sight of a little girl's smile. Hiyori?
"Y-you..?!" Momo yelled in a whisper. At first, she thought it was the impostor, but unlike that one, this girl seemed more...human.
Minus the fact that this girl's body is next to being transparent.
"Please be patient with him," the girl said. Her twintails swayed as the air blew. She put her finger to her lips and smiled, "Don't tell him I saw the whole thing, okay?"
She vanished before Momo could even form her reply.
Shintaro felt his legs slowly go numb. He's been walking for 50 minutes straight.
Wait, 50 minutes?!
He stopped in his tracks to check the time. He had exactly ten minutes left before the timer ends. Shintaro had to find Ayano in those ten minutes.
But that's impossible!
Shintaro let out a sigh. He wondered if everyone else is doing good, or if any of them is close to finding Ayano.
Another sigh.
None of them were contacting him, he was starting to get worried. Even Ene, who promised to contact him, is not giving any signs at all. He felt rather vulnerable being alone in a place he wasn't even familiar with, but then again, none of them knew of this place's existence.
It was also weird how nothing had appeared in Shintaro's path. Perhaps he was an exemption? He shook his head, wouldn't that be unfair?
He rounded a corner and stopped, his previous thoughts were immediately proved wrong.
In the middle of the pathway was a wooden door.
Shintaro frowned. He walked past the door and almost gasped, it wasn't attached to anything.
He bit his cheek, wondering if he should open the door or not. Anything could pop out of this door...maybe a monster...or something like a medusa...
And another sigh, This door could also lead to Ayano.
Deciding that to focus on his second option, he faced the door. His hands became clammy just by looking at it. With a trembling body, he slowly reached for the knob and turned it. His expectations were forgotten once he had opened the door.
Inside was a simple room with a bed, a desk, a closet, and other necessities one could own. It looked pretty normal, so Shintaro took a step in. He had never been in this room before, but it was clearly a girl's room. "Must be Momo's room." He had never really entered his own sister's room, so he wasn't sure. He shrugged, the room looked too simple for Momo's taste though. And why would his sister's bedroom be connected to this maze?
Shintaro walked around the door, deciding it was best to investigate first. He turned to the closet and silently prayed there wasn't anything in there but old clothes. Slowly, he opened the closet doors and breathed a sigh of relief. It was a normal closet, at least.
But something caught his attention.
A very familiar school uniform.
DUN DUN DUN. Have you figured out where Shintaro is? Aha~ So we're onto the last trial. Poor Hibiya fell for the trap, good thing our idol is there to snap him back to his senses. Huwah, this chapter had been filled with HibiHiyo and HibiMomo. I am sick to the stomach. Writing two opposing pairs in the same chapter was hard!
Though I must admit writing fake Hiyori and Momo getting all unfriendly with each other was fun.
Maigash, this is gonna end really soon. I will miss my followers and reviewers. Nevertheless, I will continue writing KagePro stories/fanfics/headcanons, so stay tuned! I hope you continue supporting me, that's all!
Kuroha: God, you're dramatic.
Scarlet: H-hey!
Ayano: Haruka-senpai, stop bullying her.
Kuroha: Fine.
Scarlet: D'aw, Kuroha obeys Ayano now? That's cute-(have I mentioned that I have a new story called Honey and Lemon?)
