A/N: Hey everyone! So when I said I was hoping to have a 2,000 word chapter, turns out I meant it! By the way sorry about the lateness, my beta(AKA mom) has been busy all weekend and didn't have a chance to look at this.
Disclaimer: I do not own!~
Artemis followed the Slytherin prefect through the castle, finally reaching what would be the dungeons in a traditional castle.
They stopped in front of a rather nondescript stretch of wall; however, Artemis could see that there were small outlines forming a rectangle in the wall.
"Listen up first-years, this is the password to get into our dorms, do not forget it," the prefect told them. He turned back to the wall and spoke loud enough to them all to hear, even just barely.
"Pureblood," he said. The outlined rectangle slide aside, revealing the room behind.
The room was quite posh; expensively made chairs were placed with great care around the spacious room, which had an odd feeling to it as the only light the space had possessed a green tint.
The female prefect descended the stairwell from what Artemis assumed were the individual dorms, and took her place to the left of her male counterpart.
"Now, young snakes, we expect all of you to uphold the honor of this house, so do try not to get in trouble." Artemis couldn't help that the female prefect didn't say to not cause mischief, rather phrase it in a way that said, "just don't get caught."
Her counterpart picked up where she left off, "We also expect you to obtain good grades, so study and do not be afraid to ask your elders for assistance."
Some of Artemis's peers appeared fidgety and uncomfortable, but most looked like they had heard this speech before.
"They must be these 'Purebloods' I've heard so much about from Father," he thought about the majority.
"Boys, follow me," the male one said at the same time the girl said, "Girls, follow me."
The two genders formed two straight lines behind the two, and followed them both up the single stairwell.
It was a small year for Slytherin, six boys and seven girls, so each would be sharing one room.
The first-year's rooms were both right at the top of the steps, with a listing of the names for each.
Artemis glanced at the names for his, committing them to memory.
The room was mainly stone, but had a wooden floor. The drapes over the four-poster beds were green with a near invisible pattern of snakes.
Artemis spied his trunk at the foot of the corner bed, Holly-the owl's cage resting on top.
A black-haired boy looked uneasy; his gold eyes flicked back and forth across the floor.
At the same time, a somewhat tall boy looked like he was king of the world; his messy blond hair covering his grey eyes as he flopped down on his bed.
A boy with black hair stood up and introduced himself to the room.
"Hello there, I'm Harper Kirkland; and you guys are...?" he asked.
The boy in the bed across from Artemis responded first.
"I am Ciel Miller," he said with a tone not unlike Artemis's own, his deep blue eyes obviously bored.
The boy sprawled out on the bed raised his hand and announced that he was "Jamie Braned!"
"Yukio Xerxs," the boy staring at the floor whispered.
A boy with gravity defying black hair glared at Jamie and Harper a bit. "Hiei Hayes," he finally said, his voice cold.
Artemis, in his constant formality, properly introduced himself, "I am Artemis Fowl the Second."
Jamie, Harper, and Ciel looked up interested, they had obviously heard of the Fowl family before.
However, Artemis sent them a vampire smirk and Jamie and Harper backed off, making Artemis interested Ciel, who had not reacted at all.
Jamie walked over to Yukio, who was sitting awkwardly on his bed.
"So, Yukio, I've never heard of the Xerxs family, are they a pureblood family from out of country?"
Yukio blushed, "No, my name's from my muggle dad."
Harper's eyes widened, a half-blood?
Jamie grinned, "Well you're lucky you got the most tolerant group of Slytherins in history! Isn't that right, Ciel?"
Ciel put his hand to his head like he had a headache. "Yes, Braned," he replied reluctantly.
"See Yukio, we're not so scary!" Jamie said with a enormous grin on his face.
Yukio gave a small smile, lightly laughing at the ridiculous nature of Jamie.
After that the six boys became friends, even if it was reluctantly from Artemis and Ciel.
The next day classes began, the normal scurry tripled as the first years scrambled to find their classrooms and the Great Hall.
Ed had woken up early, having had a nightmare.
Danny had kept him company waking up just as early.
Harry and Ron had been dragged out of bed by a frustrated Hermione an hour after that.
Finally, about a half-hour before they had to head done for breakfast: Percy, Fred, George, Lee, and the last four-year roommate, Kenneth Towler.
Hermione huffed. "About time you woke up! I was about to come and drag you out like I did to Harry and Ron!" she told Percy and the twins.
Percy smiled sheepishly, "Sorry about that, I overslept."
"Obviously," Hermione said, rolling her eyes.
The seven students, plus Lee, headed down for breakfast, where they spotted Artemis with Ciel and the others.
"Wow, Artemis really looks like Miller, doesn't he?" Ron remarked.
The others looked over and were surprised to see Ron was right, there were only two big differences: Ciel's hair had a blue tint and Artemis had ice blue eyes.
At Artemis's name, Hermione went back into her, "Where had I heard (blank) before?" face.
The twins looked over Percy and Ed's lessons, they had all the same classes other than Ed's "Study of Ancient Runes."
Danny looked over his; his first class was History of Magic, which they would be sharing with Ravenclaw.
Hermione poured over Ed's schedule with a fascination only she and a few others could achieve.
Ed looked over at Percy's, raising an eyebrow at Percy's elective other than Care of Magical Creatures.
"Muggle Studies? Really?" he asked.
Percy blushed, he had taken it after Annabeth asked him too; he hadn't been able to decide which other elective he wanted to do, and she suggested Muggle Studies as an easy, but still interesting, class.
The twin grinned at his blushing face.
Artemis watched his brothers with an amused look on his face; he had left his roommates to talk to Eron and Luna.
"Guten asa, Artemis," Eron said once he was standing next to her.
"Good morning, Miss Eron, Miss Lovegood."
"Hello, Artemis, we have Herbology together I believe," Luna said dreamily.
The three talked together until it was time for classes.
Artemis walked into his second lesson of the day, Potions, which the Slytherins were sharing with Gryffindor.
He spotted Ginny and walked over.
"May I sit here, Miss Weasley?" he asked
She looked over and nodded.
As he did the teacher swept into the room, his robes flowing out behind him.
He stood tall in front of the class; his piercing black eyes scanning the room.
"You are here to learn the subtle science and exact art of potion-making," he began. "As there is little foolish wand-waving here, many of you will hardly believe this is magic. I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses... I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even put a stopper in death — if you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach."
Artemis had been looking forward to this class, having heard that it was challenging.
"We shall start with the basics. . ."
"Come on Ed, we'll be late for class!" Fred- or was it George- called to the shorter boy.
"Shut up, George!" Ed yelled.
"I'm not George, I'm Fred!" The same twin said.
Ed snorted, he had figured it out a while ago that whenever one of the twins denied being the one you called him that you were right.
"Of course you are." Ed's accent was laid on heavily for his sarcastic reply.
Percy laughed; as much as he missed his mom he had to admit that his roommates were pretty fun.
"So are you two going to join any clubs?" Lee asked.
Ed shook his head, there weren't any that caught his interest.
Percy had been thinking about a basketball club some Muggleborns had created.
Lee glanced at his timepiece, checking the time.
"Bloody hell! Come on guys, it's almost time for class!"
They all took off sprinting.
Harry goaned, his first class of the year and it was the most boring, even Hermione looked a little deflated.
"What's so bad about this class?" Danny asked, it sounded like it would be interesting.
"The class itself isn't horrible, it's the professor," Harry explained.
"Professor Binns died one day in his bedroom in the castle, but went about his daily routine anyways, so we've had a ghost for a teacher ever since," Hermione continued.
"But he's the most bloody boring teacher ever, all he really talks about are the bloody Goblin Rebellions!"
"Ron!" Hermione scolded. "He's not that bad, though I must admit he is dreadfully repetitive."
"See mates, 'mione agrees!" the redhead told the black haired twins.
"Shut up, Ron!"
Harry and Danny both laughed, it was too funny.
Though Danny had other things on his mind, a ghost for a teacher?
Danny mentally groaned, maybe this class wouldn't be so interesting.
When they finally reached their destination, Danny could feel his ghost sense go off for the twentieth time that day - eating wasn't as fun as it normally was.
They took their seats; Harry was in the middle of him and Ron, and Hermione was next to Eron.
A grey figure floated in, triggering Danny's sense once more.
The ghost droned on and on, vaguely reminding Danny of Mr. Lancer when he read in front of the class, boring but if you listened it was actually interesting.
Harry looked over to his right to see Hermione and Eron furiously taking notes.
Ron had fallen asleep with the rest of the Gryffindors about ten minutes ago. Harry fell asleep about five after that, along with about half the Ravenclaws.
Danny wanted to, but his ghost sense kept going off about every five minutes
By the end of class the library duo and a few others had about three pages of notes while Danny and Harry had one, leaving Ron, like the rest of Harry's fellow housemates, with a half page at best.
As they walked out of the classroom Ron yawned and stretched, sore from sleeping at the desk.
"So what do we have next?" Harry asked.
"Charms," Hermione answered with ease, as she had committed the schedule to memory.
"Good day class, I am Professor Kettleburn and welcome to Care of Magical Creatures!" the man with only one and half limbs remaining announced to the, admittedly small, group.
"Good morning!" the class said back.
Kettleburn grinned. "Today we will be learning about Puffskeins," he explained as he took out a small cage.
A custard colored ball of floof was shown, the few girls in the class cooed over it.
"It is perfectly harmless, and is a very popular pet." The professor released the fluff into the classroom, letting it roam.
It hopped up on the desk of Percy and Ed, who were both very surprised by it's sudden appearance.
It snuggled up to Ed's chest, the girls -and the twins- cooed, making Ed blush.
Ed lifted his human hand to pet it, after he did a few times it started to do what Ed could only describe as purring.
Percy also started to pet it, he would never tell anyone, especially Annabeth or Grover, but he loved small animals.
The small Puffskein, somehow, had been on top of Ed's hair for a while before Ed realized what it was starting to do.
"Stop makink a nest in mein hair!" he shouted, his accent slipping through.
He yanked the puff off his head and handed it to the professor, who had been laughing along with the rest of the class.
Kettleburn subsided his deep laughter to hand the ball of fluff off to a set of girls.
Needless to say Ed was in a huffy mood for the rest of class -the twins were not helping.
A/N: Okay so how many of you caught the references in the chapters?\
P.S. Thanks Matt.
