Chapter 42

(The 'new clothes' idea came from 'sunflowers on a stormy day', so the amazing idea for these last three chapters is from them and I really appreciate the idea – I would never have thought of that XD any ideas anyone has, just let me know and I'll try work it in XD)

Sirius

This was a good day. It had barely started, but it was a good day. Sure, Remus wanted to murder me, but that only added to the look I had given him that morning. I just couldn't help but grin every time someone walked past him and actually had to do a double take, to make sure it was actually Remus Lupin. All the attention he was getting from it just made him a little madder at me, which just made more people turn to look at him, because he was so out of character. Which is exactly what I wanted to happen.

"Mate, you realise Moony really is going to kill you." James told me, trying not to laugh.

"Yes, yes I do. But you see, my dear Prongs, I'm sure I know exactly what he's going to do." I smirked.

"Oh, and what's that?"

"Do you remember when you found the bite mark on him?"

"Yeah, he got really mad and told me to leave."

"Do you remember what happened when I came down at dinner?"

"Yeah, I asked you what happened and Lily told me that I didn't...oh! But how do you know that's going to happen?"

"Trust me. One way or another, I'll be able to make this go my way."

James shook his, head laughing. Lily was waiting for us by the stairs with Greta. The pair of them, – since they knew Remus quite well – I personally think, had the best reaction. And that reaction just happened to be, staring wide eyed and saying...absolutely nothing! Normally, they had so much to say about one thing that I wanted to cut my ears off, just so I wouldn't have to listen to them. But I didn't have to this time, because they said nothing! The looks on their faces just made both me and James burst into hysterics, while Remus stood there clenching his fists by his side.

"Lily...is that a collar around his neck?" Greta asked, a little speechless.

"Yup...and it's the one he got Sirius." Lily replied, quietly.

"Remus...what happened to you?"

Instead of speaking, Remus just turned to glare at me. Lily and Greta followed his gaze, and tried not to start giggling.

"Well, Sirius...well done." Lily smiled.

"We didn't think you could pull it off." Greta added.

"Boy, were we wrong."

Remus spun round to face the girls, a look of shock on his face.

"Wait!" Remus said. "You two knew about this?!"

"Of course." Lily giggled. "We put the idea in his head."

"How else do you think he agreed?" Greta giggled.

"Or had something to blindfold you with."

"Or thought to keep it a secret until this morning."

Remus glared at the two girls, before running his hands through his hair, in the way he did when he was stressed.

"Oh my God!" came a high pitched squeal from behind us.

Looking round a group of Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs were staring at Remus. Remus dropped removed his hands from his hair, going as red as anything in Gryffindor house. He groaned, turning back to us, and rubbed his hands over his face.

"Let's just go in there and get this over with." Remus sighed, gesturing towards the doors of the Great Hall.

"Oh, you love it really, Rem." I grinned, wrapping an arm around his waist. "You love it really."

The day just got better and better! Teachers, of all people, the teachers started to notice that Remus wasn't in his usual attire. But the best reactions, the absolute best, came from the Slytherins! They couldn't believe what they saw! I mean, everyone knows Remus as the smart quiet boy in the Marauders. Not the guy that wore a leather jacket, tight jeans and t-shirt, and spiked his hair up...or worse a black leather collar – though no one knew it was actually mine. The Slytherins – who were normally the main culprits of picking on my werewolf – didn't know what to do with themselves, seeing Remus like this. It was brilliant! Plus, seeing him rather pissed off – because of Lily, Greta and myself – they stayed far away from him.

Throughout the day, however, I did see a few cracks in his annoyance. Every so often, he seemed to forget what he looked like, or that he actually cared about it, and just seemed to...enjoy it, almost. I was intrigued as to what was going on there, but I wasn't going to say anything. I was going to wait until later to bring it up. Many people made comments about how he looked though. Most, Remus just blew off, others Remus acknowledged and replied to...depending on who said what.

"Well, Moony," James grinned, laughing, when we were out on the grounds after lunch. "What do make of all the attention now?"

"Still don't like it." Remus sighed, leaning into me. "But I'm putting up with it as best as I can."

"I bet you secretly love it." Lily smiled, poking him on the arm.

"That's what you think, pokey."

"I don't know." James said. "I think I agree with Lils."

"That's because you're whipped."

All of us just stopped and stared at Remus. Even Remus was surprised at what he had said.

"Ok, even though that's true, Rem, I never thought you'd be the one to say it." I grinned.

Remus just went as red as a cherry, not looking at Lily or James. He shrunk down beside me, leaning backwards so he couldn't see James or Lily, meaning they couldn't see his face, before turning his head to the side, and burying it in my side. I just laughed.

Later that evening, when Remus and I were in the dorm, James was down in the common room with Lily. I told Remus he had to wait for two hours after dinner until he could change. Was I mean for doing that? For the whole time, Remus was fidgeting on my bed as he leant against me. I just found it cute.

"And...you can change." I said, after a while.

As soon as it was said, Remus launched himself off of me and my bed and over to his. He slid across his bed – accidentally – but as soon as he jumped back up, he was out of the clothes and in his pyjamas. He seemed a lot more relaxed. As I laughed, he slid back onto my bed, leaning against me again, placing the collar on my bedside table. But I noticed one thing. He still had his hair spiked. As he leant against me, a small smile on his face, one of my arms was loosely around him while the other was angled so I could run my hand though his still messily spiked hair.

"I take it you like it like this then." I grinned.

"Yeah, it's not that bad." Remus replied. "To be honest, the whole thing wasn't that bad."

"Told you it looked fine on you."

"Oh, shut up."

"Make me."

"Bite me."

"Gladly."

Was a good night. A very good night.
