Chapter 47
Remus
There were only a couple more days until we were leaving Hogwarts for good. Soon...soon everything I had known for the past seven years was going to be gone. At least I wasn't losing my friends; at least I wasn't losing Sirius. It was sad that our last year had passed so quickly, I'd rather it had slowed down so I could spend as much time possible at Hogwarts before we had to leave. I was thinking all of this while sitting next to the lake at midnight in my pyjamas, gazing over the still black waters. The moons reflection shimmered in the water, the image exactly like the original. A cool slight summer breeze rippled through the air, gently gliding across the lakes surface, distorting the moons reflection. The small waves created by the slight wind drifted across the surface, until it came to a standstill after a few minutes. I dragged my knees up to my chest, encircling them with my arms and resting my chin on them. It was just so peaceful. And I would miss it. There was so much chaos going on in the wizarding world at the moment, as well as in my own head and life. I sighed, tightening my hold on my legs. A small shiver ran down my spine, though I wasn't at all cold. It's like when you're sitting there and all of a sudden a tingling feeling goes down your back, making you shake slightly, for no apparent reason. It fascinated me, really, as to why it happened.
It was strange, thinking that I had been out here for only two hours. I thought I'd only been out here for twenty minutes, at least. What was weird was I wasn't actually tired. Normally, I would be fast asleep, or on the brink of sleep – depending on whether we were figuring out the last few ideas for a prank. But not now. Now, I just couldn't get to sleep, not matter how hard I tried. I closed my eyes for a moment, breathing deeply. I really was going to miss Hogwarts when I left.
It was at about 12:35am that I heard someone behind me. It wasn't Filch. If it was he would have been quieter, so I knew this had to be one of my friends. Though Lily wouldn't risk coming out of her dorm at night. So it had to be either Sirius or James...and I had a very good idea as to who it was.
"You're up late, Rem." Sirius said, voice slightly hoarse.
"Couldn't sleep." I smiled, still watching the lake. "What about you?"
"Woke up and you were gone. Wanted to make sure you were alright."
"I'm fine."
Sirius sat down behind me, worming his arms in-between my legs and waist. Chuckling slightly, I removed my arms from around my legs, extending them in front of me and leaning back into Sirius.
"Thinking about leaving here again, aren't you?" Sirius asked, quietly.
"Not long left." I sighed.
"Aren't you excited?"
"Nervous more than anything."
He pulled me back, further into him and tightening his arms around me. I went back to watching the lake intently, watching the stillness and listening to the distant sounds of owls. It was going to be difficult leaving Hogwarts...especially since I would no longer be able to hide in the Shrieking Shack during the full moons. Though Sirius had assured me that he had found a place that we could disappear to when it was that time of the month.
"Everything will be fine. I promise." Sirius replied, pressing his lips to the side of my neck.
I turned slightly so I could face him a little better. Before I knew it, Sirius had lifted my head up slightly and leant forward, pressing his lips roughly to mine, and arms still around my waist. My arms had slid upwards to wrap around his neck, my right hand fisting his short black hair gently. Sirius' tongue ghosted across my lower lip, making my mouth open slightly as a small moan escaped. It was like I had no control over what I was doing anymore, but that was fine by me. Sirius' grip on me tightened as his tongue dived into my mouth, not that I was at all surprised. I was surprised, however, when his hands started to creep up my back – when had they gotten under my shirt? My closed eyes – when did I close them? – going wide, my hand in his hair gripping slightly tighter. His tongue brushed against mine as we continued, but all too soon we pulled away. Breathing heavily, Sirius rested his forehead against mine. I felt the colour rise to my face.
"I know it will." I mumbled, suddenly tired.
Grinning, Sirius stood up, helping me to my feet.
"Let's get you back inside." he chuckled.
I didn't resist as Sirius started to drag me inside, steering me with an arm around my shoulders. I yawned quietly as we walked, eyes starting to drop close. As much as I was going to miss Hogwarts...going to live with Sirius after we finished school and got back from both holidays – though he still only knew about the one he planned – was going to be amazing.
