Chapter 48 – LAST CHAPTER

Sirius

It was our last day of our last year at Hogwarts. This would be the last time we would be at the castle...unless people became Professors. Remus would make a good Professor, especially if it was a Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor. I was sure Dumbledore would hire him if Remus asked.

For the last few months, Remus had been a little stressed and very nervous. Today? Well, today he was still very nervous, but also kind of excited. It was easy to tell that was how he felt...well it was for me, but then I was his best friend/boyfriend and had known him for six years. Everyone was making sure to say goodbye to the friends they had made over the years, as well as to the Professors that they had gotten to know so well. Hagrid was definitely on the 'Marauders' List Of People To See', as well as Dumbledore and McGonagall. As long as we got to see those three and got to say farewell, we were all happy – apart from Remus, who wanted to talk to every single Professor he had since First Year.

"Rem, at this rate we'll be left here." I chuckled, as Remus dragged me in and out of classrooms.

"Are we sure that's such a bad thing?" Remus asked, quietly.

"Yes, considering it's the summer holidays and we're going to New York. Not to mention Cyprus after that."

It took them a while, but Lily and Remus had finally told us what they had been planning. I couldn't wait. First New York, just me and Remus and the city of awesomeness, then to Paphos with two of the greatest friends I had.

"Look, Rem." I continued, stopping and dragging him closer. "I know you don't want to leave, but we all have to leave this place behind at some point. Besides, one day, when people aren't so uptight about...about you're 'fury little problem', Dumbledore could ask you to come in and speak to students about what it's like, and get start to get rid of some of the stereotypes."

Remus smiled, slightly. I could still tell he was nervous and sad by the way his shoulders were slumped, yet tense. I pulled him impossibly closer, hugging him tightly.

"Everything will be great." I added. "Anyway, you're moving in with me soon."

That got him to cheer up at least a little bit, face reddening slightly. I leant forward brushing my lips gently against his before pulling back. Smiling myself, I started walking again, not wanting to make him wait any longer to say his last goodbyes to his Professors.

Later that afternoon, after the feast, Remus and I made one last trip up to the Gryffindor common room with Paddy. Paddy had fallen asleep in Remus' arms as we walked up the stairs and through the portrait hole. As soon as we stepped into the room, thousands of memories came flooding into my head, playing at the same time, all from different years at Hogwarts.

"Do you remember the time when I attempted to dress up as a Muggle, for Halloween?" I laughed.

"That was hilarious." Remus giggled. "You looked like a drag queen."

"Shut up! Not like you did any better when you came down looking like a rabid dog."

"I blame Lily for that. She was the one that insisted I dress up as Wolverine and was the one that decided what I was wearing."

Remus and I glanced at each other; suddenly realising we were now sitting on the sofa. Paddy was still asleep, snoring away. I still found it surprising just how small he actually was!

"Do you remember back in First Year, when you, James and Pete came down here and found me sitting by the fire? The first time?" Remus asked.

"How could I forget?" I replied, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. "You were so scared and so shy. It was actually really adorable, I must say."

"I was not adorable."

"It was adorable. And you are, and always will be, adora-bubble. You're cute...just like a Puffling."

All was quiet until Remus erupted into fits of giggles, unable to control himself. I was shocked by the sudden outburst, something that was quite evident on my face, which just made my wolf laugh even harder. I liked it when Remus laughed, he just looked so happy, forgetting everything apart from what made him laugh...which gave me further proof that he was adorab-bubble.

"What?" I asked when he calmed down.

"It's just..." Remus laughed. "A Puffling? Really?"

"Yeah, what's so funny?"

"Sorry, I just wasn't expecting Puffling."

Remus went into another fit of giggles, this time taking me down with him.

We spent another couple of hours sitting in the common, recalling events that had happened in the room from earlier years at Hogwarts. It was fun reminiscing.

All too soon, we were boarding the train. Lily, James, Remus and I all took one last look at the castle and waved goodbye to Hagrid. I was going to miss that big softy. I spotted Dumbledore and McGonagall not to far away, pointing him out to the others. We waved to him too, receiving two nods in reply. It was a shame knowing I wouldn't be there to annoy Minnie any more... I just hoped someone tried to take me place.

"Well my friends, this is where the real journey begins." James said, once we were seated in a compartment.

"This will be interesting." Remus nodded, setting Paddy's carrier-cage-thing beside him.

"But fun." I grinned.

"Oh yeah." Lily beamed.

As we sat there, the four of us discussed what we were doing during the summer, before we went to Paphos in September. I was quite excited about going to Paphos, since I had never been before. Lily, on the other hand, had. She said it was a great place for a hot and sunny holiday. Looking from James and Lily and over to Remus – who was sitting beside me, leaning into me – I couldn't help but get this warm fuzzy feeling. It sounds really stupid and girly, but I'm not lying. I had my friends, I had my boyfriend, and I had people who were now my family. I loved the three of them. They made life bearable, and Merlin knows what I would have done without them. Somehow, James and Lily ended up in a mini mock argument, leaving Remus shaking his head at them amused. Smiling, I gently ran the tips of my fingers up and down his side. Remus shivered from the unexpected touch, turning his head towards me. Before he got a chance to say anything, I attacked his mouth with mine, worming my tongue through his lips. When we pulled back, Remus was a whole new shade of red and grinning like a mad man.

"I love you, Rem." I whispered, rubbing my nose against his.

"Love you too, Pads." Remus whispered back.

"More than you could ever know." we both added.
