Disclaimer: I do not own Resident Evil or any of its characters, although I wish I did.
A/N: This story is actually going to be a lot longer than I originally thought. I wish I had more for Felines and Felonies but that'll have to wait until next week. Anyways, rate and review and now, let's continue this shit. Sorry this chapter is so short. I couldn't really write more without making this 4 chapters in one.
The Wrong Side of Fate
Andy woke up in a pile of leaves. She couldn't remember how she got there or where exactly she was but she knew that she wasn't near camp anymore. She felt icky and heavy, like her bones were made of lead. Sitting up, she shifted and almost immediately lurched forward to hurl. She thought about K-Mart and how she had just left the camp without a word. 'K-Mart must be worried sick,' she thought to herself. A pang of sadness flowed through her, but she quickly shook it off. She needed to find the others.
She then remembered what had caused her to run in the first place. A voice inside her head was telling her she needed to find someone. Someone named Alice. She didn't know who this Alice was or what her current situation had to do with her, but she felt compelled to seek out this woman and ask for her help. She shrugged off the leaves that had attached themselves to her shoulders and picked herself up off the ground.
Slowly picking up speed, Andy found herself running in the direction the voice had told her to go. She was nearing a deserted town and knew she had to stop for a while to catch her breath. She slowed to a creeping halt near a drugstore and went inside to look for some food. When she turned up empty, she sighed deeply. She was exceedingly hungry and tired but she couldn't stop now. She was only a few yards from her destination.
A big, gray building loomed overhead and Andy grimaced, asking herself why she thought it was a good idea to follow a voice in her head that she knew nothing about. She took a deep breath and stepped inside. The inside of the building was dusty and the smell of mold was thick in the air. She almost gagged but held herself together as she wandered aimlessly through the countless hallways, searching for the one called Alice. She heard a crash behind her and slowly turned around, bracing herself for what she would see. She was not, however, prepared for what she saw. Not in the slightest.
"Hello, Andy," the blonde woman smirked. Andy wasn't sure if she was staring at a mirror or another person. She looked exactly like the woman before her. "Shocked, huh? I was the one who told you to come here. I'm Alice. Your sister." Andy's jaw dropped. She had no idea that her sister was even still alive after all this time. This woman wasn't her twin, she seemed to be older than Andy. "You were travelling with Claire Redfield's group, weren't you? How is Claire and K-Mart?" Alice asked curiously.
Andy soon found her voice and through clenched teeth, she muttered, "Claire is fine and my mate is none of your concern. If you're my sister, where have you been all this time? I was out there by myself for so long. I had just given up when K found me. Claire took me in and they gave me a place to sleep, a place to feel safe. Of course, that was before you ripped it all away with your voice in my head telling me to come here to find you. What do you want anyway?"
"I wanted to see my baby sister. Plus, I need your help. You've been infected with the T-virus. Just like I was, the only difference is, your powers will be a lot stronger than mine ever were. I want to help show you how to use them but I also feel like I have to warn you. You are Fae. Just like me and just like our parents were, but you are the strongest out of all of us." She turned around shook her head, her back to me. "I wish I could have told you all of this before, I feel like I could have somehow stopped it from happening. When someone we love is in pain or in trouble, we shift into autopilot. We can't control what we do, we just do it. With the T-virus in our system, we become a lot stronger, but first the pain sets in. Its awful at first. It feels like your head is going to explode at any second, but it'll dull out over time. Then, the telekinesis. The psychic abilities. The pyromania. It'll all make sense in due time, but for now I think we should get to the convoy, they'll be running into danger soon. Claire is my mate. I left her because I thought that would protect her, but I miss her too much to stay away any longer. Oh, and Andy," she stopped, turning to me. "I am so glad that I found you. I haven't seen you since you were a baby. You look really grown up and I'm so proud that you have found a mate among all this darkness." She smiled and took off at a slow jog toward the entrance.
Andy followed her until they came across a clearing, and hiding behind some bushes, they stopped and watched as Claire and the other refugees, along with K-Mart stopped to bed down for the night. The look on K-Mart's solemn face broke Andy's heart. Instead of holding Andy back, Alice ushered her forward, following only a few steps behind. K-Mart looked up and a smile immediately spread across her face before a look of shock replaced it when Alice came into view.
"Alice?" Claire choked out, before running over to the older woman and crushing their lips together. Andy didn't even have time to speak before K-Mart had her locked in the same position as her older counterpart. "I've been so worried. I've missed you so much. I'm so glad you came back. How did you meet Andy?" She could hear Claire's muffled words.
"Maybe we should let Andy tell you that part." Alice smiled at her. She could tell that her sister seemed a lot happier with Claire in her arms.
"Alice is my sister," Andy said, earning a few gasps from the group gathered around the fire that had been built. "Turns out, I'm just like her. Infected with the T-virus but not dangerous to humans. I really can't tell you much else, because this is all so new to me. I didn't even know my sister was alive until I saw Alice and then I knew we must be related because I look just like her." K-Mart nuzzled into Andy's shoulder, getting herself comfortable enough for the sleep she had deprived herself of while they were searching for her mate. She felt safe and at home whenever Andy was around and now, she could sleep soundly again.
