Time is a funny thing. It never quite moves as fast or as slow as you ever really want it to.
Bella and I both were trying our best to not let the unknown get the better of us, but it wasn't easy. We worked on clearing out one of the guest bedrooms as we waited for Thursday, and as more and more of the room was cleared of Grab Bags, Wobble Wag Giggles, Curl-A-Dogs, and Vidalia Chop Wizards, I couldn't help but fantasize about Bella and I working to turn this room into a nursery.
"Edward…" Bella called, saying my name loud enough to break me out of my daydream of figuring out where to put a crib. "Are you coming with me Thursday?"
"Of course I am," I replied, pulling Bella close to me. "That is, I mean….if you want me to?"
I desperately wanted to be there with Bella. It was only now that she was asking if I would go that I realized that maybe she would prefer to go alone.
"Of course I want you to come with me," She answered, placing a chaste kiss on my lips before refocusing herself on disposing of the five dozen Balloon Bonanzas that were currently residing in the guest room closet.
By the time Thursday finally rolled around, Bella and I were both a bundle of nerves. I had actually called ahead to Dr. Brandon and ask that she have some time in the afternoon set aside for me for after…just in case.
After checking in with the nurse at the front desk, Bella and I waited. Eventually they called us back. Bella went through all of the usual doctor's office routines…getting on the scale, checking her temperature and blood pressure, and of course, giving a urine sample. After those things were handled, the nurse led us to a room, drew a blood sample from Bella, and told us to wait for the doctor to come in.
Again…time is a funny thing. I lost track of how long we waited, but Bella's doctor did eventually come in, and judging by the nervous expression on Bella's face it had been too long of a wait for her liking.
"Hello Bella," her doctor began. "It's nice to see you again."
"It's good to see you too Dr. Banner," Bella replied. "Edward, this is Dr. Banner. He's been my OB/GYN for the past several years."
Dr. Banner and I shook hands before he sat down.
"Sorry you had to wait in here so long," he explained. "I just wanted to make sure both the urine and blood tests came back before we spoke. That way we could be absolutely sure."
Exchanging nervous looks, Bella and I looked at each other before she asked what I couldn't form the words to ask myself.
"Be absolutely sure that…"
"That your test results were correct. I always like to have both results in before I speak to my patients," Dr. Banner replied, a reassuring smile spreading on his face.
"Alright, lets get to it then," he announced, picking up the folder he had placed on the counter when he first walked in. "Let's take a look at those results shall we?"
A/N: Again, sorry for the super long time between updates. I've finally found some balance in my work life so I should have some fairly regular updates...one to two a week. My goal is to have this story finished before the summer ends. As always, all products, as weird as they may sound, are real. You can look for them all on the As Seen on TV website. Many Many thanks to all of you who have stuck around for this fic. Also...would love to know your thoughts...is she or isn't she pregnant?
